  • Recently, nano-methodology is increasingly important as the ruler for measuring nano-technology, and we applied the linear encoder to nano-methodology. The quadrature output in the linear encoder has an effect on increasing the resolution in some techniques. Already, various interpolation techniques based on the quadrature signal have applied to the precision servo system. In this paper, we propose a new interpolation algorithm for ultra-precision positioning in the low speed with simulation by MATLAB SIMULINK. This method modified previous methods and was properly designed for some given control system. To verify, we first fulfilled the encoder signal test to find main parameters fer the signal transformation, then we proved the proposed interpolation algorithm by experiments, which show that the result of the interpolation algorithm corresponds with the measurement of the laser interferometer in 100 nm unit approximately. In addition, we can get more precise measurement by more accurate and noise-free signal. So we need to compensate imperfections in the encoder signal. After that, we will apply this algorithm to nano positioning system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the vibration signal of the revolution machine using the STFT(Short Time Fourier Transform). It is common to analyze the frequency of signal through FFT algorithm with the fixed sampling rate. However, in this situation the order spectrum information useful rather than the general frequency information with the fixed sampling rate. In this paper, the resampling technique was used for getting the information of order spectrum. In resampling process, the arithmetic amount and MSE(Mean Square Error) for various kinds of the signal interpolation was compared and presented the propriety of the interpolation method while developing analysis equipment. Order tracking was implemented using signal interpolation method which it has selected. Then the analyzed results were obtained through simulation using the STFT technique.

  • In this paper, we propose the bandpass form of discrete prolate spheroidal sequences(DPSS) which have the maximal energy concentration in a given passband and as such are very appropriate to obtain a projection of signals. The basic properties of the bandpass DPSS are also presented. Assuming a signal satisfies the finite time support and the essential band-limitedness conditions with a known center frequency, signal representation and interpolation techniques for band-limited signals using the bandpass DPSS are introduced where the reconstructed signal has minimal out-of-band energy. Simulation results are given to present the usefulness of the bandpass DPSS for efficient representation of band-limited signal.

  • A 6-bit 3.4 GS/s flash ADC in a 65 nm CMOS process is reported along with the proposed 4x time-domain interpolation technique which allows the reduction of the number of comparators from the conventional $2^N-1$ to $2^{N-2}$ in a N-bit flash ADC. The proposed scheme effectively achieves a 4x interpolation factor with simple SR-latches without extra clocking and calibration hardware overhead in the interpolated stage where only offset between the $2^{N-2}$ comparators needs to be calibrated. The offset in SR-latches is within ${\pm}0.5$ LSB in the reported ADC under a wide range of process, voltage supply, and temperature (PVT). The design considerations of the proposed technique are detailed in this paper. The prototype achieves 3.4 GS/s with 5.4-bit ENOB at Nyquist and consumes 12.6 mW power at 1 V supply, yielding a Walden FoM of 89 fJ/conversion-step.

  • To analyze the dynamic acceleration characteristics, it is necessary to identify the acceleration model using some methods that can represent the dynamic properties well. In this sense, fractal methods were used for the verification of characteristics of an acceleration signal. To estimate and analyze the geometry of acceleration signal, a fractal interpolation and its analysis was introduced in this paper. The chaotic nature of acceleration signal was considered in fractal modeling. In this study the fractal signal modeling has brought a focus within the scope of the fractal interpolation and fractal dimension. And a new idea of fractal dimension has been introduced and discussed considering the damping ratio and amplitude for its dynamic properties of the signal. The fractal dimension of acceleration with respect to the scaling factor using fixed data points of 1000 points was calculated and discussed. The acceleration behaviors of this results show some different characteristics. And this fractal analysis can be applied to other signal analysis of several machining such as pendulum type grinding and milling which has many dynamic properties in the signal.

  • The synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is an equipment that can acquire images in all weathers day and night based on radar signals. The on-board processor of satellite SAR generates transmission signal by digital signal processing, converts it into an analog signal and transmits to antenna. Until the transmission signal generated by on-board processor is output, the signal passes the transmission cables and analog devices. At this time, these hardware distort the signal and makes SAR performance worse. To improve the performance, pre-distortion technique is used. But, general pre-distortion using taylor series is not sufficient to compensate for the distortion. This paper suggests transmit signal design method with improved pre-distortion. This paper uses envelop sampling method and interpolation filter for frequency domain compensation. The proposed method accurately compensates the hardware distortion and reduces resource usage of FPGA. To analyze proposed method's performance, IRF characteristics are compared when the proposed method applies to signal with errors.

  • The Long Term Evolution (LTE) system is based on the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and relies its channel estimation on the lattice-type pilot samples in the multipath fading channel environment. The estimation of the channel frequency response (CFR) makes use of the least squares estimate (LSE) for each pilot samples, followed by an interpolation both in time- and in frequency-domain to fill up the channel estimates for subcarriers corresponding to data samples. Any interpolation scheme could be adopted for this purpose. Depending on the requirements of the target system, we may choose a simple linear interpolation or a sophisticated one. For any choice of an interpolation scheme, these is a trade-off between estimation accuracy and numerical cost. For those wireless communication systems based on the OFDM and the preamble-type pilot structure, the DFT-based channel estimation and its variants have been successfully. Yet, it may not be suitable for the lattice-type pilot structure, since the pilot samples are not sufficient to provide an accurate estimate and it is known to be sensitive to the location as well as the length of the time-domain window. In this paper, we propose a simple interpolated based on the upsampling mechanism in the multirate signal processing. The proposed method provides an excellent alternative to the DFT-based methods in terms of numerical cost and accuracy. The performance of the proposed technique is verified on a multipath environment suggested on a 3GPP LTE specification.

  • Patients with heart disease need long-term monitoring of the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal using a portable electrocardiograph. This trend requires the miniaturization of data storage and faster transmission to medical doctors for diagnosis. The ECG signal needs to be utilized for efficient storage, processing and transmission, and its data must contain the important components for diagnosis, such as the P wave, QRS-complex, and T wave. In this study, we select the vertex which has a larger curvature value than the threshold value for compression. Then, we reconstruct the compressed signal using by radial basis function interpolation. This technique guarantees a lower percentage of root mean square difference with respect to the extracted sample points and preserves all the important features of the ECG signal. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated in the experiment using the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston's Beth Israel Hospital arrhythmia database.
