  • This paper presents a design method for an asynchronous memory with a completion signal generation circuit meeting D-I model. The proposed design method is to generates a completion signal with dummy cell and a completion signal generation circuit to indicate completion of the required read or write operation to the processor. Dividing a memory exponentially to consider delay of a bit-line and a memory cell makes memory operates as a D-I model with minimum addition of redundant circuit. The proposed memory partitioning algorithm that divides entire memory into the several partitions with a exponentially increased size reduces the memory access delay by 40% compared with a conventional partitioning method to the same size.

  • In OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) manufacturing, the aging process increases the manufacturing efficiency and measures the correction value to correct the aging. The correction value for correcting the aging of the OLED can be applied to the driving signal. The OLED aging process measures the current after outputting the light for a predetermined time according to the preset driving signal and temperature. In the OLED manufacturing process, aging is applied for non-uniformity by deposition and temperature. This time has little effect on OLED efficiency reduction. Heating devices and signal generation systems are required to create the conditions necessary for aging. The results measured by the heating system and signal generation system can be used as a basis for evaluating power requirements, uniformity and efficiency in OLED manufacturing. In this paper, we propose and implement a configuration for interlocking the driving signal generation and heating system for practical OLED aging correction.

  • This paper proposes a model of SP(silent period) generation in masseter muscle by means of computer simulation. The model is based on the anatomical and physiological properties of trigeminal nervous system. In determining the SP generation pathway, evoked SPs of masseter muscle after mechanical stimulation to the chin are divided into normal and abnormal group. Normal SP is produced by the activation of mechanoreceptors in periodontal ligament. The activation of nociceptors contributes to the latter part of normal SP, abnormal extended SP is produced. As a result, the EMG signal generated by a proposed SP generation model is similar to both real EMG signal including normal SP and abnormal extended SP with TMJ patients. The result of this study have shown differences of SP generation mechanism between subjects both with and without TMJ dysfunction.

  • In this paper, a GNSS error generation simulator for Signal Quality Monitoring (SQM) is implemented by using Matlab based on mathematical models derived from the effect of GNSS signal and measurement errors. The GNSS signal measurement errors of interest in this paper include three cases such as Evil Wave Form (EWF), Multipath (MP) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). In order to verify the validity of the generated measurement errors, a simple form of metrics for detecting and monitoring GNSS errors is included in the simulator. The GNSS errors generated by the simulator are added to the GNSS measurement data from commercial GNSS receiver in real time, and then, the SQM is tested for various scenarios of each case configured by scenario setting of the user.

  • Powered robotic exoskeletons are currently under development for assisting or supporting human muscle power. Many applications using this system for the purpose of national defense system, medical support, and construction industry are now frequently introduced. In this paper, we proposed the exoskeletal wearable robotics for construction workers. First, we analyzed general work conditions at the construction site and set up target tasks through the datum. Then dominant muscles’ activity which is related with the defined target tasks was checked up. Herein, wearers’ intent signal generation methodology was introduced in order to effectively activate the proposed system. In the final part of this paper, we evaluated the capability and feasibility of the exoskeletal robotics by the electromyography (EMG) signal variance; demonstrated that robotic exoskeletons controlled by muscle activity could be useful way of assisting with construction workers.

  • This paper discusses the impacts of large scale grid-connected wind farm equipped with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) on power system small signal stability (SSS) incorporating wind generation uncertainty and volatility. Firstly, a practical simplified PMSG model with rotor-flux-oriented control strategy applied is derived. In modeling PMSG generator side converter, the generator-voltage-oriented control strategy is utilized to implement the decoupled control of active and reactive power output. In modeling PMSG grid side converter, the grid-voltage-oriented control strategy is applied to realize the control of DC link voltage and the reactive power regulation. Based on the Weibull distribution of wind speed, the Monte Carlo simulation technique based is carried out on the IEEE 16-generator-68-bus test system as benchmark to study the impacts of wind generation uncertainty and volatility on small signal stability. Finally, some preliminary conclusions and comments are given.

  • It takes considerable time to generate accurate clutter signal using conventional clutter generation scheme. In this paper, real-time schemes are proposed, which have reasonable accuracy and are applicable to testing the radar performance. Proposed methods are compared through the simulation, which represented that clutter signal can be generated in real-time when using proposed methods for simulated signal generator.

  • This work describes the development of a D-band (110-170 GHz) signal source based on a SiGe BiCMOS technology. This D-band signal source consists of a V-band (50-75 GHz) oscillator, a V-band amplifier, and a D-band frequency doubler. The V-band signal from the oscillator is amplified for power boost, and then the frequency is doubled for D-band signal generation. The V-band oscillator showed an output power of 2.7 dBm at 67.3 GHz. Including a buffer stage, it had a DC power consumption of 145 mW. The peak gain of the V-band amplifier was 10.9 dB, which was achieved at 64.0 GHz and consumed 110 mW of DC power. The active frequency doubler consumed 60 mW for D-band signal generation. The integrated D-band source exhibited a measured output oscillation frequency of 133.2 GHz with an output power of 3.1 dBm and a phase noise of -107.2 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz offset. The chip size is $900{\times}1,890{\mu}m^2$, including RF and DC pads.

  • One of the important topics concerning the safety of electrical and electronic system is the reliability of the wiring system. The Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry(TFDR) is a state-of-the-art system for detection and estimation of the fault on a wiring/cable. The purpose of this paper is to implement a Labview based TFDR Real Time system though the instruments of PCI extensions for Instrumentation(PXI). The TFDR Real Time system consists of the five parts: Reference signal design, signal generation, signal acquisition, algorithm execution, results diplay part. In the signal generation and acquisition parts we adopt the Arbitrary Waveform Generator(AWG) and Digital Storage Oscilloscope(DSO) PXI modules which offer commonality, compatibility and easy integration at low cost. And execution of the PXI modules not only is controlled by the Labview programing but also the total system process is executed by the Labview application software.

  • Computer simulations were conducted to demonstrate the generation of microwave-induced thermoacoustic signal. The simulations began with modelling an object with a biological tissue characteristic and irradiating it with a microwave pulse. The time-varying heating function data at every particular point on the illuminated object were obtained from absorbed electric field data from the simulation result. The thermoacoustic signal received at a point transducer at a particular distance from the object was generated by applying heating function data to the thermoacoustic equation. These simulations can be used as a foundation for understanding how thermoacoustic signal is generated and can be applied as a basis for thermoacoustic imaging simulations and experiments in future research.
