In this paper, an approximate formula for radiation efficiency of the plate surround by an infinite rigid baffle is studied. The plate is simply supported and one side is in contact with air, while other side with water. By assuming an infinite plate, the fluid loading effect is derived in terms of an effective mass. Based on the observation that the fluid loading effect decreases as frequency increases, the radiation efficiency formula at high frequency, which was originally derived for a plate vibrating in the air, is modified as the approximate formula for a submerged plate. The fluid loading effect is taken into account in the wavenumber of the plate. Comparisons of the approximate formula with the numerical results shows that they match well except the mid-frequency range in which numerical results show many oscillations. In numerically solving the fully coupled equations of motion, fourfold integrals of the impedance coefficients are reduced to single nonsingular integrals, which results in substantial reduction in computing time.

Trawlers are divided into stern and side types by the method of shooting and hauling net, but the latter is difficult to find beside Korea. In East Sea of Korea, the side type used to be in early 2000's, but it improved to stern type because of its inefficient operating method. The aims of this paper is to make clear the stability of the side trawler in the East Sea, and then confirm whether it satisfy the IMO rule or not, the degree of the transverse inclining angle of the ship when hauling net at hull side. In results, the stability of the ship in initial inclining range satisfied the IMO rule and the domestic rule, but not satisfied those rule in over the range. The limit load of the ship that was coincide with the angle of beam end in hauling net at side was about 26 tons, 18 tons in normal sea condition and storm warning condition respectively. The transverse inclining angles of the ship in hauling net were much higher from 3.3 to 5.5 times than the longitudinal inclining angle of the stern trawler, although those angles were slightly changed with depending on the loading and sea condition.

The purpose of this study is to develop a new seismic resistant method by using precast concrete wall panels for existing low-rise, reinforced concrete beam-column buildings such as school buildings. Three quasi-static hysteresis loading tests were experimentally performed on one unreinforced beam-column specimen and two reinforced specimens with L-type precast wall panels. The results were analyzed to find that the specimen with anchored connection experienced shear failure, while the other specimen with steel plate connection principally manifested flexural failure. The ultimate strength of the specimens was determined to be the weaker of the shear strength of top connection and flexural strength at the critical section of precast panel. In this setup of L-type panel specimens, if a push loading is applied to the reinforced concrete column on one side and push the precast concrete panel, a pull loading from upper shear connection is to be applied to the other side of the top shear connection of precast panel. Since the composite flexural behavior of the two members govern the total behavior during the push loading process, the ultimate horizontal resistance of this specimen was not directly influenced by shear strength at the top connection of precast panel. However, the RC column and PC wall panel member mainly exhibited non-composite behavior during the pull loading process. The ultimate horizontal resistance was directly influenced by the shear strength of top connection because the pull loading from the beam applied directly to the upper shear connection. The analytical result for the internal shear resistance at the connection pursuant to the anchor shear design of ACI 318M-11 Appendix-D except for the equation to predict the concrete breakout failure strength at the concrete side, principally agreed with the experimental result based on the elastic analysis of Midas-Zen by using the largest loading from experiment.

In this study the progressive collapse resisting capacity of a RC beam-column subassemblage with and without strengthening was investigated. Total of five specimens were tested; two unreinforced specimens, the one designed as gravity load-resisting system and the other as seismic load-resisting system, and three specimens reinforced with: (i) bonded strand, (ii) unbonded strand, and (iii) side steel plates with stud bolts. The two-span subassemblages were designed as part of an eight-story RC building. Monotonically increasing load was applied at the middle column of the specimens and the force-displacement relationships were plotted. It was observed that the gravity load-resisting specimen failed by fractures of re-bars in the beams. In the other specimens no failure was observed until the maximum displacement capacity of the actuator was reached. Highest strength was observed in the structure with unbonded strand. The test result of the specimen with side steel plates in beam-column joints showed that the force-displacement curve increased without fracture of re-bars. Based on the test results it was concluded that the progressive collapse resisting capacity of a RC frame could be significantly enhanced using unbonded strands or side plates with stud bolts.
Structural experiment result showed that PHC(d=600mm) Pile used as a common compression member could resist 83.6 ~ 91.6 tonf of ultimate tension force, if the adhesion of P.C. bar of PHC pile to the concrete foundation is strengthened. Considering a proper safety factor to ultimate tension strength, PHC pile can substitute the anti-floating anchor, or reduce the number of anchors. For this purpose, pullout resistance behavior of a Bored pile embedded in real ground as well as structural tension strength of PHC pile must be evaluated. This study performed the static pullout tests to evaluate the pullout behavior of bored pile, and compared the test results with design value of side resistance. To evaluate the pullout resistance easily, static pullout test results were compared with dynamic loading test results using PDA. As a result, cement paste of the bored pile was hardened which is after 15 days, LH side resistance design value corresponded well to the Static pullout test results, also to the side resistance evaluated by dynamic loading test.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of immediate non-functional loading by analyzing histomorphology around the implant tissues in dogs. Five eight- to nine-month-old full-grown dogs weighing around 12 kg were used in the study. Group I (control group) comprised those in which delayed loading was applied to the right side of the mandible, and Group II (experimental group) consisted of dogs in which immediate loading was performed on the left side of the mandible. Resorbable blast media (RBM)-treated double-threaded US III implants measuring 3.5 mm in diameter and 11 mm long were used in the study. Each animal received four implants in each group, for a total of 40 implants. Cemented type abutments were used after implantation. An 8-week period was allowed for bone healing and an abutment was placed after exposing the periosteum for loading. An implant sample was obtained from bone blocks taken when the dogs were killed at 16 weeks after loading. A Mann-Whitney U-test was performed to evaluate statistical significance. Student's t-test was used for the histological evaluation. The bone formation ratio in Groups 1 and 2 was 88.23 and 86.41%, respectively. No significant difference in new bone formation was observed in the two groups. As no significant difference was seen in new bone formation between the delayed and immediate loading groups, early loading might be possible after implant placement.
We have studied the effect of polarity, current density, current duration, crosslinking density, swelling ratio, and permeation enhancers on the transdermal flux of ketoprofen from acrylamide hydrogel. Hydrogel was prepared by free radical crosslinking polymerization of acrylamide. Drug loading was made just before transport experiment by soaking the hydrogel in solution containing drug. In vitro flux study using hairless mouse skin was performed at $36.5^{\circ}C$ using side-by-side diffusion cell, and the drug was analysed using HPLC/UV system. The result showed that, compared to passive flux, the total amount of drug transported increased about 18 folds by the application of $0.4\;mA/cm^2$ cathodal current. Anodal delivery with same current density also increased the total amount of drug transported about 13 folds. It seemed that the increase in flux was due to the electrorepulsion and the increase in passive permeability of the skin by the current application. Flux increased as current density, the duration of current application and loading amount (swelling duration) increased. As the cross linking density of the hydrogel increased, flux clearly decreased. The effect of hydrophilic enhancers (urea, N-methyl pyrrolidone, Tween 20) and some hydrophobic enhancers (propylene glycol monolaurate and isopropyl myristate) was minimal. However, about 3 folds increase in flux was observed when 5% oleic acid was used. Overall, these results provide some useful information on the design of an optimized iontophoretic delivery system of ketoprofen.

Acoustic radiation efficiency is a crucial factor to estimate Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) of ships accurately. This paper describes a numerical method to analyse acoustic radiation efficiency of one side-wetted rectangular Mindlin plate with simply supported boundaries excited by a harmonic point force. Transverse displacements of plate and acoustic radiation pressures are evaluated by the mode superposition method. The acoustic radiation efficiencies analyzed by both Mindlin and thin plate theories show little differences at monopole and corner modes of low frequency regions but relatively large differences at edge and critical modes of high frequency regions. Especially, the critical frequency with the highest acoustic radiation efficiency evaluated by the Mindlin plate theory is higher than that of thin plate theory. In addition, the acoustic loading effect of fluid also increases bending wave-number of plate and its critical frequency. Finally, the acoustic radiation characteristics of plates with different aspect ratios and thicknesses through numerical analyses are investigated and discussed.
This research concentrates on the effects of distributions and volume fractions of carbon nanotubes (CNT) on the nonlinear bending behavior of deep cylindrical panels reinforced by functionally graded carbon nanotubes under thermo-mechanical loading, hitherto not reported in the literature. Assuming the effects of shear deformation and moderately high value of the radius-to-side ratio (R/a), based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and von Karman type of geometric nonlinearity, the governing system of equations is obtained. The analytical solution of field equations is carried out using the Ritz method together with the Newton-Raphson iterative scheme. The effects of radius-to-side ratio, temperature change, and boundary conditions on the nonlinear response of the functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite deep cylindrical panel (FG-CNTRC) are investigated. It is concluded that, among the five possible distribution patterns of CNT, FG-V CNTRC deep cylindrical panel is strongest with the highest bending moment and followed by UD, X, O, and Ʌ-ones. Also, considering the present deep cylindrical panel formulation increases the accuracy of the results. Hence, according to the noticeable amount of R/a in FG-CNTRC cylindrical panels, it is mandatory to apply strain-displacement relations of deep cylindrical panels for bending analysis of FG-CNTRC which certainly is desirable for industrial application.
The crack length measurements by electrical potential(EP) method for 1% Cr-Mo-V and 12%Cr steel of 0.5T-CT specimen were performed at $500^{\circ}C, 600^{\circ}C 700^{\circ}C$, and an applicability of stress intensity factor($K_I$), net section stress($\sigma_{net}$), $C^*$-ingegral and $C_t$ parameter was studied to measure creep crack growth rate(da/dt) with side groove and without side groove under static and cyclic loading condition. The experimental result could be summarized as follows: 1) Crack measurement by EP method was available and coincided with the Johnson,s analytical equation. 2) da/dt by $K_I$ and $\sigma_{net}$ was not adequate because of the wide scatter band according to load and temperature, but $C^*$-integral, except for transition region, was adequate. 3) $C_t$ parameter showed the best fitted line through total creep region without relating with both temperature and load condition. 4) Under the cyclic loading condition, $C_t$ parameter was proper to extimate da/dt. And it was shown that da/dt for 1% Cr-Mo V steel under the static condition(R=1) was 1.16 times faster than the case under cyclic loading(R=0), and for 12% Cr steel, 1.43 times.
