This research introduces three new fractal array configurations that have superior performance over the well-known Sierpinski fractal array. These arrays are based on the fractal shapes Dragon, Twig, and a new shape which will be called Flap fractal. Their superiority comes from the low side lobe level and/or the wide angle between the main lobe and the side lobes, which improves the signal-to-intersymbol interference and signal-to-noise ratio. Their performance is compared to the known array configurations: uniform, random, and Sierpinski fractal arrays.
Permeable polymer concrete in this study is one of the environment conscious concrete that can be applied at road, side walks and river embankment, etc. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of mix proportions such as resing content, filler-binder ratio and aggregate ratio on the freezing and thawing resistance of permeable polymer concrete. The permeable polymer concrete are prepared with the resin ratio of 5%, 6% and 7%, filler-binder ratio of 0, 0.5 and 1.0, and 2.5~5mm sized aggregate ratio to standard sand of 10:10, 10:20, 20:10 and 20:20. It is tested for freezing and thawing test according to ASTM C 666092, and then, weight change, length change, relative dynamic modulus, durability factor, and compressive and flexural strengths after test are measured. From the test results, the resistance to freezing and thawing of permeable polymer concrete increased with increase the resing content, filler-binder ratio and fine aggregate ratio.
This study used an unstable platform to change the support surface type and position of both lower limbs in order to determine changes in weight distribution and muscle including the vastus medialis, tibialis anterior, lateral hamstring, and lateral gastrocnemius of both lower limbs were evaluated during knee joint flexing and extending in a semi-squat movement in 32 hemiplegic patients. The support surface conditions applied to the lower limbs were divided into four categories: condition 1 had a stable platform for both lower limbs; condition 2 had an unstable platform for the non-hemiplegic side and a stable platform for the hemiplegic side; condition 3 had a stable platform for the non-hemiplegic side and an unstable platform for the hemiplegic side; and condition 4 had an unstable platform for both sides. The normalized EMG activity levels of muscles and weight bearing ratio of both sides in the four surface conditions were compared using repeated measures ANOVA. A significant increase was found in the weight support distribution for the hemiplegic side in flexing and extending sessions in condition 2 compared to the other conditions (p<.05). A statistically significant decrease in significant decrease in asymmetrical weight bearing in flexing and extending sessions was observed for condition 2 compared to the other conditions (p<.05). A similar significant decrease was found in differences in muscular activity for both lower limbs in condition 2 (p<.05). The muscular activity of the hemiplegic side, based on the support surface for each muscle showed a significantly greater increase in condition 2 (p<.05). An unstable platform for the non-hemiplegic side and a stable platform for the hemiplegic side therefore increased symmetry in terms of the weight support distribution rate and muscle activity of lower limbs in hemiplegic patients. The problem of postural control due to asymmetry in hemiplegic patients should be further studied with the aim of developing continuous effects of functional training based on the type and position of the support surfaces and functional improvement.
This study was performed for the purpose of investigating the relation between width of temporomandibular joint space and craniofacial morphology in patients with CMDs. The subjects utilized here were aged from 16 to 63 years old and 19 male and 46 female. For the study, each patient was taken radiographs by Transcranial and Lateral Cephalographic projection and the films were traced with routine method. The measured items were anterior, superior, posterior joint space and relative condylar position to the deepest part of glenoid fossa in Transcranial film and items related vertical and/or horizontal growth in Cephalogram. The data were processed with SPSS/PC+ package for statistical analysis. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Anterior joint space in affected side were wider than that of unaffected side, but for superior and posterior joint space, the value of unaffected side were more than those of affected side. 2. Superior or posterior joint space of affected side were significantly correlated with items related vertical growth, such as ramus height, Jarabak ratio, FMA. From this, the following cold be proposed, the wider the joint space of superior or posterior aspect of affected side was, the more the patient showed growth pattern of counter clockwise. 3. Superior or posterior joint space of affected side were significantly correlated with items related horizontal growth, such as SNPo, NAPo, APDI and ANB. From this the following could be proposed, the wider the joint space of superior or posterior aspect of affected side was, the more the patient showed anterior displacement of mandible. 4. It would be proposed that the diagnositic value of superior and posterior joint space of affected side in transcranial radiograph was excellent.
Background: Delivery workers repeatedly get in and out of trucks and walk or run to deliver packages during work. Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is a well-known non-traumatic overuse injury of the lateral side of the knee caused by frequent knee flexion and extension. Hip muscle strength is among the factors that prevent lower extremity injuries. Although many studies have examined the relationship between ITBS and hip muscle strengths, there was no study comparing hip muscle strength and ratio between delivery workers with and without ITBS. Objects: This study aimed to compare hip muscle strength and hip internal/external rotator and adductor/abductor strength ratios between delivery workers with and without ITBS. Methods: Fourteen delivery workers with ITBS matched inclusion criteria in the present study among 20 participants. Because total sample size was required 28 subjects by G*power program (ver. 3.1.9.4; University of Trier), 14 delivery workers without ITBS were recruited. Hip muscle strengths were measured in a side-lying position using a Smart KEMA pulling sensor (KOREATECH Co. Ltd.). An independent t-test was used to compare hip muscle strengths and hip internal/external rotator and hip adductor/abductor strength ratios between delivery workers with and without ITBS. Results: The adductor/abductor strength ratio was significantly greater in delivery workers without ITBS than in those with ITBS (p < 0.05). The strengths of the hip abductor, hip adductor, hip internal rotator, hip external rotator, and the ratio of internal/external rotator strengths were not significantly different between the delivery workers with and without ITBS (p > 0.05). Conclusion: This study's findings showed that delivery workers with ITBS had significantly lesser adductor/abductor strength ratio, while the strengths of the hip abductor and adductor muscles did not differ significantly. These results suggest that adductor/abductor strength ratio should be considered when evaluating and treating ITBS in delivery workers.

In this study, a modified reverse flow type, one of the triple effect absorption cycles, is studied for performance improvement. The cycle simulation is carried out by using EES(Engineering Equation Solver) program for the working fluid of $H_2O/LiBr$ solution. The split-ratios of solution flow rate, UA of each component, pumping mass flow rate of solution are considered as key parameters. The results show that the optimal SRH (split ratio of high side) and SRL (split ratio of low side) values are 0.596 and 0.521, respectively. Under these conditions, the COP is maximized to 2.1. The optimal pumping mass flow rate is selected as 3 kg/s and the corresponding UAEV A is 121 kW/K in the present system. The present simulation results are compared to the other literature results from Kaita's (2002) and Cho's (1998) triple effect absorption systems. The present system has a lower solution temperature and a higher COP than the Kaita's modified reverse flow, and it also gives a higher COP than the Cho's parallel flow by adjusting split ratios.
This paper presents a new disk-type piezoelectric transformer. The input side of the transformer has a crescent-shaped electrode and the output side has a focused poling direction. The piezoelectric transformers operated in each transformer's resonance vibration mode. The electrodes and poling directions on commercially available piezoelectric ceramic disks were designed so that the planar or shear mode coupling factor $(k_p\;k_{15})$ becomes effective rather than the transverse mode coupling factor $(k_{31})$. ANSYS finite element code was used to analyze transformer behavior and to optimize electrode and poling configurations. The voltage step-up ratio of the proposed transformer has been markedly improved in comparison with that of the equivalent rectangular(Rosen) type. A single layer prototype transformer, $20\sim30mm$ in diameter and $1.0\sim3.5mm$ thick, was fabricated, such as step-up ratio, power transformation efficiency, and temperature were measured. While the transformer was driving a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp(CCFL), the temperature field of the transformer was also observed.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the compression strength research by aerated concrete as mixing ratio This Study used foaming-agent and produced aerated concrete by pre-foam way that is used in construction site. An experiment changes unit cement amount, w/c and the glass fiber mixing rate and 'measured capacity change, unit capacity weight and compressive strength. The results obtained from experimental study are as following; Research to reduce unit capacity weight in condition more than unit cement amount 500kgf is considered should be gone side by side. The highest compressive strength result appeared in aerated concrete that cement amount 600kgf and w/c ratio $45\%$, $50\%$. compressive strength was increased maximum $34%$ when glass fiber $0.7\%$ addition cause by coherence enlargement to enlargement of cement paste and glass fiber addition per unit volume
This paper describes on RIE(Reactive Ion Etching) characteristics of 3C-SiC(Silicon Carbide) grown on Si(100) wafers. During RIE of 3C-SiC films in this work, $CHF_3$ gas is used to form of polymer as a side wall for excellent anisotropy etching. From this process, etch rates are obtained a $60{\sim}980{\AA}/min$ by various conditions such as $CHF_3$ gas flux, $O_2$ addition ratio, RF power and electrode distance. Also, approximately $40^{\circ}$ mesa structures are successfully formed at 100 mTorr $CHF_3$ gas flow ratio, 200 W RF power and 30 mm electrode distance. Moreover, vertical side wall is fabricated by anisotropy etching with 50% $O_2$ addition ratio and 25 mm electrode distance. Therefore, RIE of 3C-SiC films using $CHF_3$ could be applicable as fabrication process technology for high-temperature 3C-SiC MEMS applications.
