Sufentanil, a potent anilidopiperidine analgesic, was synthesized from a simple thiophenylethylamine via six sequence. The key parts of this synthesis involved an efficient construction of thiophenylethylpiperidone by aminomethano desilylation-cyclization followed by Swern oxidation and a direct regioselective N-nucleophilic spiral epoxide cleavage with aniline promoted by Lewis acids.

The studies were conducted to investigate the inflammation, gastric ulcer, analgesic and homothrmic of experimental animals by KYUNG OK-KO water extract and drink, which is a traditional preparation in Korea. 1. It was exhibited significantly anti-inflammatory effects to acute inflammation on carragennan edema, and preventive and therapeutic effects to chronic inflammation on Freund's complete adjuvant in rats(100, 200, 400 mg/kg). Especially, preventive effect of KYUNG OK-KO water extracts at doses of 100, 200, 400 mg/kg in rats were showed dose-dependantly. 2. Aspirin-induced gastric ulcer were remarkably repaired by all experimental groups of KYUNG OK-KO water extracts. 3. The number of writing syndromes by acetic acid induced also were decreased which MPI's test was increased by tail flick apparatus in mice remarkably, all doses of water extracts(100, 200, 400 mg/kg) and dose-dependantly. 4. Aminopyrine-induced homothermic effects of KYUNG OK-KO water extract(100, 200, 400mg/kg) and drink (0.7, 1.4, 2.1 ml/kg) were significantly evaluated dose-dependantly in 400 mg/kg, 2.1 ml/kg groups.

This paper presents a high-speed pulse-based flip-flop with pseudo MUX-type scan compatible with the conventional master-slave flip-flop with MUX-type scan. The proposed flip-flop was implemented as the standard cell library using Samsung 130nm HS technology. The data-to-output delay and power-delay-product of the proposed flip-flop are reduced by up to 59% and 49%, respectively. By using this flop-flop, ARM11 softcore has achieved the maximum 1GHz operating speed.

Objectives : This study was designed to investigate the effects of Gastrodia elata Blume on the improvement of memory. Methods : This study was a 12 week, double blind, comparative clinical study. There were eligible who worked with a group of healthy seniors, all 60 years of age or older. 50 subjects were randomized either to Gastrodia elata Blume in powder form and steep in hot water or placebo. We measured the faculty of memory by using K-DRS, MMSE-K, Digit Span, Letter Fluency Test, Word List Memory Test, and the Trail Making Test, and after 12 weeks we measured the faculty of memory again using the same methods. Results : Gastrodia elata Blume steeps in the hot water group significantly increased. Initiation, perseveration level, and Memory level of K-DRS and MMSE-K score. There were no considerable differences between three groups in Digit Span and Trail Making Test score. Gastrodia elata Blume group showed significant advances in Letter Fluency Test and recognition of Word List Memory Test. Conclusions : The results suggest that Gastrodia elata Blume may have positive effects on memory improvement and function of the frontal lobe activation.

The effect of aqueous extract of Stachys riederi var. japonica Miq. (Labiatae) (SRAE) on the immediate-type allergic reactions was investigated. SRAE was found to exhibit a inhibitory activity on the compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylaxis in mice. SRAE inhibited the plasma histamine release induced by compound 48/80 in mice. In addition, SRAE also inhibited the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reaction induced by IgE/anti-IgE in mice. The effect of SRAE on the histamine release from rat peritoneal mast cells (RPMC) was studied. SRAE inhibited the histamine release induced by compound 48/80 in RPMC. To clarify the mechanism of these inhibiting reactions, we investigated the effects of SRAE on cyclic AMP (cAMP). The level of cAMP in human leukemia cell line, HMC-1, when SRAE (1 mg/ml) was added, significantly increased compared with that of basal cells. These results indicate that SRAE may be beneficial in the treatment of immediate-type allergic reaction.

The dispersion characteristics of AlN-4.5 wt% $Y_2O_3$ powder mixture by various dispersants were investigated in ethanol and methyethly-ketone (MEK) solvents. In general, the cationic polymer dispersants demonstrated superior dispersion of the powder as compared to the non-ionic ester-type dispersants or anionic phosphate-ester-based ones. The dispersion performance of the cationic polymer dispersants was sensitive to the type of solvent. An anhydric maleic-acid-based graft copolymer dispersant, AFB-1521, demonstrated a very good dispersion capability in ethanol but exhibited a much inferior dispersion in MEK. On the other hand, the dispersion of the powder mixture was very good with a phosphate-ester-based block polymer dispersant, BYK-111, in MEK solvent, while dispersionwas much degraded in ethanol.
