전단탭이 없는 상·하부 스플릿 티 접합부의 접합부상세 개발 (Development of Connection Details for a Double Split Tee Connection Without a Shear Tab)

  • 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부는 보-기둥 모멘트 접합부의 한 형태로 T-stub 플랜지의 두께, 고장력볼트의 게이지 거리, 고장력볼트의 개수, 고장력볼트의 직경 등의 변화에 따라서 상이한 거동특성을 나타낸다. 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부는 일반적으로 상 하부에 체결된 T-stub이 휨모멘트를 지지하고 전단탭이 전단력을 지지하는 것으로 이상화하여 설계되고 있다. 그러나 중 저층 강구조물에 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부가 적용되면 보 부재의 규격이 작아지므로 보 웨브에 전단탭을 설치할 수 없는 경우가 발생할 수 있다. 이 연구는 이와 같이 보 웨브에 전단탭 설치가 어려운 기하학적 형상을 갖는 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부가 충분한 전단력 지지능력을 발현하도록 하는 접합부상세를 제안하기 위하여 진행하였다. 이를 위하여 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부에 대한 실험체를 제작하여 실물대 실험을 수행하였다.

  • 금상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부는 접합부를 구성하는 T-stub 플랜지의 두께, 고장력볼트의 게이지 거리, 고장력볼트의 개수 및 직경 등의 변화에 따라서 상이한 강도, 강성, 에너지소산능력 등을 발현한다. 이러한 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부가 중 저층 강구조물에 적용될 경우에 전단력을 지탱하는 전단탭을 적용할 수 없는 상황이 발생한다. 이 때문에 충분한 휨모멘트지지능력뿐만 아니라 전단력도 지탱할 수 있는 개선된 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부상세의 제안이 필요하다. 이 연구는 양재근 등이 해석적 연구와 실험적 연구를 수행하여 얻은 전단탭이 없는 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부가 중 저층의 강구조물에 적용되었을 때 충분한 회전강성을 발현하는 가를 평가하기 위하여 진행하였다. 또한, 전단탭이 없는 상 하부 스플릿 티 접합부를 적용한 중 저층 강구조물이 안전한 구조적거동양상을 나타냄과 동시에 무차원화 된 초기 회전강성을 구조해석에 적용하여 재료적 물량저감 효과도 나타낼 수 있는 가를 평가하기 위하여 진행하였다.

  • Cyclic response of "shear" connections between steel outrigger beams and reinforced concrete core walls is presented in this paper. The connections investigated in this paper consisted of a shear tab welded onto a plate that was connected to the core walls through multiple headed studs. The experimental data from six specimens point to a capacity larger than the design value. However, the mode of failure was through pullout of the embedded plate, or fracture of the weld between the studs and plate. Such brittle modes of failure need to be avoided through proper design. A capacity design method based on dissipating the input energy through yielding and fracture of the shear tab was developed. This approach requires a good understanding of the expected capacity of headed studs under combined gravity shear and cyclic axial load (tension and compression). A model was developed and verified against test results from six specimens. A specimen designed based on the proposed design methodology performed very well, and the connection did not fail until shear tab fractured after extensive yielding. The proposed design method is recommended for design of outrigger beam-wall connections.

액적의 변형 및 분열의 정확한 예측을 위한 공기역학적으로 진보된 APTAB 모델 (Aerodynamically Progressed Taylor Analogy Breakup (APTAB) Model for Accurate Prediction of Spray Droplet Deformation and Breakup)

  • An aerodynamically progressed model, which is called APTAB model. has been proposed for more accurate prediction of the deformation and breakup of a spray. Especially, the effects of the droplet deformation on the droplet aerodynamic external force are considered in this model, which was neglected in TAB model. It is found that the predicted droplet deformation using APTAB model shows better agreement with experimental data than those of other models for the droplets in both bag-type and shear-type breakup regimes. A new breakup criterion has been proposed to predict more reasonable breakup quantities, such as breakup deformation length, time and so on; i.e., it is defined that the breakup occurs when the internal liquid phase pressure of the deformed droplet at the equator is greater than that of the pole. The proposed breakup criterion shows more physical relationship between the degree of droplet deformation at breakup and the corresponding breakup Weber number as compared with the results with TAB and DDB models. Therefore, it provides better predictions of the experimental data than TAB and DDB models for the droplet deformation and time in both bag-type and shear-type breakup regimes.

Combined Effect of Irradiation and Ageing Condition on Physicochemical and Microbial Quality of Hanwoo Eye of Round

  • The combined effects of electron-beam irradiation and ageing of beef were examined. The irradiated samples at dose of 0 or 2 kGy were kept and analyzed for the microbial growth, shear values, meat color, and nucleotide-related flavor compounds at different ageing temperatures (2, 10, or 25℃) for 8 d. The irradiation effect on inactivation of foodborne pathogens was also investigated. The population of Listeria monocytogenes and E. coli O157:H7 inoculated in beef samples decreased in proportion to the irradiation dose, showing D10 values of 0.66 and 0.65 kGy respectively. The irradiated beef eye of round had lower number of total aerobic bacteria (TAB) than nonirradiated one during the storage, but the TAB increased with higher ageing temperature (p<0.05). Especially, TAB increased sharply in non-irradiated samples aged at 25℃ after 4 d (p<0.05). With increasing ageing temperature and ageing time, shear force values decreased (p<0.05). The color a* values of the irradiated beef were lower than those of the non-irradiated throughout the ageing period (p<0.05). As ageing time and temperature increased, the amounts of inosine monophosphate decreased and the hypoxanthine increased (p<0.05). Relatively high ageing temperature could be used at irradiated beef eye of round to shorten the ageing time.

실선 스케일 CFD 해석 기반 트림 탭이 부착된 고속선의 유체동역학적 성능 분석 (A Study on the Hydrodynamic Performance of High-Speed Vessel with Trim Tab Using Full-Scale CFD Simulation)

  • 본 연구에서는 Froude 수 1.0, 길이 약 10 m 급 소형 고속선의 저항성능과 승선감을 향상시키기 위해 선미 끝단에 트림 탭을 부착하여 항주자세를 제어하였고, 트림 탭의 제원에 따른 성능을 확인하기 위해 CFD 해석을 수행하였다. 먼저 선행 연구로부터 수치해석이 수행되는 스케일에 따라 결과에 차이가 있는 것이 확인되었고, 이를 피하고자 실선 스케일에서의 해석을 수행하였다. 부착된 트림 탭의 코드 길이는 LPP의 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 %였으며, 선저 면과의 각도는 5° 간격으로 변화를 주었다. 트림 탭은 선박의 선미트림과 부상량을 감소시키는 효과가 있었으며, 이 효과는 트림 탭의 선저 면과의 각도가 클수록, 코드 길이가 길수록 증가하였다. 이로 인해 압력저항은 감소하고 전단저항은 증가하였으며, 두 성분의 변화량에 따라 전 저항 저감율이 결정되었다. 결과로부터 대상 선박의 최적 항주자세는 약 1.5°의 선미트림으로 특정되었고, 이때 저항성능은 약 27 % 개선되었다.

Effect of plate properties on shear strength of bolt group in single plate connection

  • A single plate shear connection, or shear tab, is a very popular shear connection due to its merit in ease of construction and material economy. However, problems in understanding the connection behavior, both in terms of strength and ductility, have been well-documented. Suggestions or design model for single plate connections in AISC Design Manual have been altered several times, with the latest edition settling down to giving designers pre-calculated design strength tables if the connection details agree with given configurations. Results from many full-scale tests and finite element models in the past suggest that shear strength of a bolt group in single plate shear connections might be affected by yield strength of plate material; therefore, this research was aimed to investigate and clarify effects of plate yield strength and thickness on shear strength of the bolt group in the connections, including the validity of using a plate thickness/bolt diameter ratio ($t_p/d_b$) in design, by using finite element models. More than 20 models have been created by using ABAQUS program with 19.0- and 22.2-mm A325N bolts and A36 and Gr.50 plates with various thicknesses. Results demonstrated that increase of plate thickness or plate yield strength, with the $t_p/d_b$ ratio remained intact, could significantly reduce shear strength of the bolt group in the connection as much as 15 percent. Results also confirmed that the $t_p/d_b$ ratio is a valid indicator to be used for guaranteeing strength sufficiency. Because the actual ratio recommended by AISC Design Manual is $t_p/d_b$ + 1.6 (mm) for connections with a number of bolts less than six and plate yield strength in construction is normally higher than the nominal value used in design, it is proposed that shear strength of a bolt group in single plate connections with a number of bolts equal or greater than seven be reduced by 15 percent and the $t_p/d_b$ ratio be limited to 0.500.

Application of Electron-Beam Irradiation Combined with Aging for Improvement of Microbiological and Physicochemical Quality of Beef Loin

The samples were vacuum-packaged, irradiated at 0 or 2 kGy using electron-beam (EB), and stored for 10 d at different aging temperatures (2, 14, or 25℃). The microbial growth, shear values, meat color, and nucleotide-related flavor compounds of the samples were analyzed. The irradiation effect on inactivation of foodborne pathogens was also investigated. The population of Listeria monocytogenes and Escherhia coli O157:H7 inoculated in beef samples decreased in proportion to the irradiation dose. Irradiation reduced the total aerobic bacteria (TAB) over the storage, but higher aging temperature increased the TBA. Thus TAB increased sharply in non-irradiated and high temperature-aged (14, 25℃) beef samples after 5 d. With increasing aging temperature and aging time, shear force values decreased. Lipid oxidation could be reduced by short aging time at low aging temperature. The color a* values of the irradiated beef were lower than those of the non-irradiated throughout the aging period. As aging period and temperature increased, IMP decreased and hypoxanthine increased. Considering microbial and physicochemical properties, irradiation can be used for raw beef to be aged at relatively high temperature to shorten aging time and cost.

Assessment of chicken thigh meat quality of Ross 308 broiler of animal welfare certified farm

  • Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the difference in the thigh meat quality of Ross 308 broiler from conventional and welfare farms. Methods: Thigh meat samples of Ross 308 broilers (age, 35 d; carcass weight, 1.1 kg) from conventional farm (RCF, n = 60) and animal welfare farms (RAWF, n = 60) were analyzed. Proximate composition, pH, color (lightness, redness, and yellowness), water-holding capacity (WHC), shear force, total aerobic bacteria (TAB), and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) were measured and the levels of bioactive compounds such as dipeptides (anserine and carnosine), creatine, creatinine, and their anti-oxidation activity were determined. Results: The RCF and RAWF did not differ significantly in their proximate composition, WHC, color, and creatine and carnosine levels. The pH value was significantly lower in RAWF than in RCF on day 7. The shear force value was significantly higher in RAWF than in RCF throughout the storage duration. TAB in RCF on day 9 were significantly higher than those in RAWF. The VBN content of RAWF was significantly lower than that of RCF after 5 days of storage. Creatinine content was significantly higher in RAWF (3.50 mg/100 g) than in RCF (3.08 mg/100 g) on day 1. Along with higher carnosine and anserine contents of RAWF, it had significantly higher 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl and 2,2-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activities than those of RCF. Conclusion: These results imply that the animal welfare farming system beneficially affects the overall oxidative stability of Ross 308 thigh meat.
