Solution-Phase Synthesis of Shape-Controlled Metal Nanocrystals

  • Controlling the morphology of a metal nanocrystal is critical to modern materials chemistry because its physical and chemical properties can be easily and widely tuned by tailoring the size and shape. Combined with ease of synthesis and processing, metal nanocrystals with desired morphologies and thus properties are promising candidates for a wide variety of applications in catalysis, sensing, imaging, electronics, and photonics, and medicine. In this talk, I would like to introduce my recent research results on the shape-controlled synthesis of metal nanocrystals using a simple aqueous method. This water-based system provides a number of merits such as simplicity, convenience, and the potential for large-scale production and enables us to synthesize metal nanocrystals with a rich variety of shapes such as truncated octahedron, cubes, bars, octahedrons, and thin plates. The ability to control the shape of metal nanocrystals provides a great opportunity to systematically investigate their catalytic and optical properties.

자전 고온 반응 합성법을 이용한 NiTi계 형상기억 합금의 제조에 관한 연구 (Processing of NiTi Shape Memory Alloy by Self- propagating High-temperature Synthesis)

  • Synthesis of the NiTi shape memory alloy using the thermal explosion mode of the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis has been investigated. The significant fractions of intermetallics phases were found to form at the Ti/Ni powder interface during the heating to the ignition temperature and seemed to influence the relative fraction of phases in the final products. As the heating rate to the ignition temperature was increased, the combustion temperature and the fraction of NiTi in the final reaction products were increased. The synthesis reaction under 70 MPa compressive pressure yielded a reaction product with 98% theoretical density.

  • The substructure synthesis method is used for making it easy to analyze vibration systems generally in vibration field. In the past, this method has been to be used mainly because of shortage of computer memory and CPU time. But recently this method is used for analyzing complex structure or identifying the characteristics of systems precisely. The purpose of this study is to develop acoustic substructure synthesis method that can be applied to acoustic modal analysis of complex acoustic systems. Acoustic modal analysis method to be introduced here is a method that analyze acoustic natural mode shape of the complex acoustic system by the principle of CMS(component mode synthesis method). This paper describes the acoustic modal analysis of the acoustic finite element model of simple expansion pipe by acoustic substructure synthesis method. The resutls of acoustic modal analysis analyzed by Acoustic substructure synthesis method and the results by FEM(finite element method) shows good agreement.

Shape- and size-controlled synthesis of noble metal nanoparticles

  • Noble metal nanoparticles (mainly Au, Ag, Pt and Pd) have received enormous attention owing to their unique and fascinating properties. In the past decades, many researchers have reported methods to control the shape and the size of these noble metal nanoparticles. They have consequently demonstrated outstanding and tunable properties and thus enabled a variety of applications such as surface plasmonics, photonics, diagnostics, sensing, energy storage and catalysis. This paper focuses on the recent advances in the solution-phase synthesis of shape- and size-controlled noble metal nanoparticles. The strategies and protocols for the synthesis of the noble metal nanoparticles are introduced with discussion of growth mechanisms and important parameters, to present the general criteria needed for producing desirable shapes and sizes. This paper reviews their remarkable properties as well as their shape- and size- dependence providing insights on the manipulation of shape and size of metal nanoparticles, necessary for appropriate applications. Finally, several applications using the shape- and size-controlled noble metal nanoparticles are highlighted.

  • In the present study, equiatomic porous TiNi shape-memory alloys have been successfully prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) using elemental titanium and nickel powders. The porous TiNi alloys thus obtained have an open porous structure with about 64 vol.% porosity, and the pore size is about 1.8 mm. The effect of preheating temperature on the microstructure have been investigated. It is found that the pore size increases with increasing preheating temperature. Moreover, the preheating temperature was shown to have a significant effect on the microstructrue of the SHS-synthesized porous TiNi shape memory alloys.

가상대학에서 교수자와 학습자간 상호작용을 위한 지식기반형 문자-얼굴동영상 변환 시스템 (Knowledge based Text to Facial Sequence Image System for Interaction of Lecturer and Learner in Cyber Universities)

  • 본 논문에서는 가상대학에서 교수자와 학습자간 상호작용을 위한 지식기반형 문자-얼굴동영상 변환(TTFSI : Text to Facial Sequence Image) 시스템에 관해 연구하였다. TTFSI 시스템의 구현을 위해, 한글의 문법적 특징을 기반으로 가상강의에 사용된 자막정보에 립싱크된 얼굴 동영상 합성하기 위하여 자막정보를 음소코드로 변환하는 방법, 음소코드별 입모양의 변형규칙 작성법, 입모양 변형규칙에 의한 얼굴 동영상 합성법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 한글의 구조분석을 통해 기본 자모의 발음을 나타내는 10개의 대표 입모양과 조음결합에서 나타나는 78개의 혼합 입모양으로 모든 음절의 입모양을 표현하였다. 특히 PC환경에서의 실시간 영상을 합성하기 위해서 매 프레임마다 입모양을 합성하지 않고, DB에서 88개의 해당 입모양을 불러오는 방법을 사용하였다. 제안된 방법의 유용성을 확인하기 위하여 텍스트 정보에 따른 다양한 얼굴 동영상을 합성하였으며, PC환경에서 구현 가능한 TTFSI 시스템을 구축하였다.

성문파형이 모음음소합성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Glottal Wave Shape on the Vowel Phoneme Synthesis)

  • 男性話者가 發音한 韓國語 母音/아, 에, 이, 오, 우/의 聲門波를 직접 抽出하여 音聲에 따라 성문파가 각각 다르다는 것을 확인하였다. 具現한 5가지의 성문파로 母音을 다시 合成하여 聲門波形이 音聲合成에 미치는 영향을 波形的으로 비교하였다. 상문파의 모양, 개방시간과 폐쇄기간에 따라 合成音聲波形은 變化가 있었으며, 聲門波形이 合成音質向上의 중요 factor로 作用함을 알 수 있었다.

제품개발 초기단계의 생산공정설계를 위한 기계부품의 외형형상 합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Part Configuration Shape Synthesis for Process Planning in the Early Design Stage)

  • Tight integration of product design and process planning in the early design stage would make bigger impact as wider spectrum of design and manufacturing alternatives can be pursued and evaluated. Thus the development of systematic computer-based support for this integration is desirable. For this integration and process planning in the early design stage. the systematic method to synthesize shape of part from functional requirements is crucial. This research presents the methods of functional decomposition from overall function or product and synthesizing shape of part based on functional relations extracted from functional decomposition using planetary gear transmission system as an example.
