Method: the subjects were 276 high school students in 4 high schools in Gyonggi Province and Chungnam Province. The data was collected from August 1 to September 10, 2003. Result: The average age of the subjects is 16.5 years old, composed of male students, 154 persons(55.8%), and female students, 122 persons(44.2%). The mean scores of sexual consciousness, reproductive health knowledge and the mean level of sexual experience are 28.9, 10.5, and 1.7 respectively. There is a significant difference in sexual consciousness and sexual experience by sex (t=-3.22, p<.001; t=8.17, p<.001), the male students have more sexual experience than the female students, while the girls have a higher sexual consciousness than boys. Sexual consciousness has a negative relationship with reproductive health knowledge and sexual experiences(r=-0.13, p=0.04;r=-0.17, p=0.01). Sexual experience has a positive relationship to reproductive health knowledge(r=0.21, p<.001). Conclusion: We can conclude that sexual consciousness and reproductive health knowledge are weakly related to sexual experience. In addition we suggest developing an educational program to enhance sexual consciousness for high school students considering sexual differences.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship among sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes, and reproductive health promoting behaviors of nursing college students. The research tools utilized were sexual knowledge measurement tool by Jeon(2004), sexual attitudes measurement tool by Ho(2009), and reproductive health promoting behaviors measurement tool by Jo(2014). A total of 300 nursing college students were surveyed, and 229 responses were analyzed. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's post hoc test and pearson's correlation coefficients with IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0. Female students exhibited higher sexual knowledge, and it was evident that reproductive health promoting behavior education is appropriate during lower academic years. Additionally, the indication that higher sexual knowledge corresponds to higher reproductive health promoting behaviors suggests the ongoing necessity for sexual education to enhance reproductive health promoting behaviors. Therefore, this study could serve as foundational data for developing educational materials on reproductive health promoting behaviors for counseling and education aimed at improving nursing college students' reproductive health.

  • Objectives : Contents on causes of male infertility, reproductive health improvement, sexual tips were studied in classical texts of Korean Medicine, followed by representative formulas for male infertility treatment. Methods : Related texts from the Qiusimen chapters of the Yixuerumen, Yixuexinwu, Donguibogam, Nukejinglun, Jiaozhufurenliangfang, Jiyingandmu were collected, and their medical meaning discussed. Results : As immoderate libido and excessive mental consumption leads to sexual dysfunction causing male infertility, 'moderating sexual desire and accumulating Jing' should be the principle for improving reproductive health. Also, sufficient foreplay is recommended. In terms of formula, the Wuziyanzongwan with sufficient therapeutic evidence in both classical texts and contemporary Korean Medicine can be applied in cases of male infertility. Conclusions : Excessive sensual stimulation and immoderate sexual desire consumes the mind and results in decline in male reproductive health. While moderating sexual desire and accumulating Jing through controlling desire, not overworking, moderating anger, drinking in moderation, balanced eating should be the principle for improving reproductive health, having sexual intercourse 2~3 times per week rather than long-term abstinence is recommended. To improve the success rate in pregnancy, sufficient foreplay and time should be done and taken for intercourse. Wuziyanzongwan should be taken for at least three months or longer.

  • The aim of this study is to determine whether the reproductive health promotion program (RHPP) affect the sexual knowledge, sexual attitude, and reproductive health promoting behavior in University students. The students of 108 (mean 20.84 years) were participated in the RHPP, and this program was conducted to 110 min, twice a week for 4 weeks from November 9, 2016 to December 7. We investigated sexual knowledge, attitude, and reproductive health promoting behavior by questionnaire. As the results, the sexual attitude was better than baseline, and significant correlation between the sexual knowledge and the reproductive health promoting behavior (p<0.05). However, no significant changes in outcome measure were observed in the sexual knowledge and reproductive health promoting behavior (p>0.05). We found that the RHPP improves the sexual attitude and correlate between the sexual knowledge and reproductive health promoting behavior. This study will be utilized to develop the education program for the reproductive health promotion of University students.

Unhealthy behaviors were alcohol drinking, smoking, excessive weight loss, and irregular exercise; unsafe sex practices were experience of sexual intercourse with multiple sex partners and history of sexually transmitted disease (STD). Male students had more alcohol drinking (p=.04), smoking(p<.001), excessive weight loss(p=.01), experience of sexual intercourse with multiple sex partners(p<.001), history of STD(p=.025) compared to females. On the other hands, female students participated in regular exercise less than males(p<.001). Conclusion: College students seem to perform unhealthy behaviors related to reproductive health and less effective way of safe sex practices. • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the sexual behavior, health risk related to reproductive health, and characteristics of sexual experience among college students in Korea. Methods: Six thousands college students were selected through proportional quota sampling based on region, college, and gender. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were used to describe the data. Results: Thirty eight percent (N=2,285) of the participants reported sexual intercourse. The mean age of first time sexual intercourse was 19.3 years old. Respondents reported the following health risks such as smoking, drinking, not exercising, no regular meal patterns, chronic disease status, and weight loss over 10 kg in the past three months showed significant differences by sexual intercourse experience (p<.01). Among those who had sexual intercourse experiences, 7.1% of them reported having a history of STDs and 11.6% reported a pregnancy or pregnancy of one's partner. Conclusion: The findings of this study reflect the current trends of sex behaviors among college students and correlations between health risks related to reproductive health and sexual intercourse experiences. Developing reproductive health education programs based on the findings and providing the programs to college students through a school nurse is suggested.
