The objective of this study was to evaluate the capability of different strength-maturity models to account for the effect of the hydration heat on the in-place strength development of high-strength concrete specifically developed for nuclear facility structures under various ambient curing temperatures. To simulate the primary containment-vessel of a nuclear reactor, three 1200-mm-thick wall specimens were prepared and stored under isothermal conditions of approximately $5^{\circ}C$ (cold temperature), $20^{\circ}C$ (reference temperature), and $35^{\circ}C$ (hot temperature). The in situ compressive strengths of the mock-up walls were measured using cores drilled from the walls and compared with strengths estimated from various strength-maturity models considering the internal temperature rise owing to the hydration heat. The test results showed the initial apparent activation energies at the hardening phase were approximately 2 times higher than the apparent activation energies until the final setting. The differences between core strengths and field-cured cylinder strengths became more notable at early ages and with the decrease in the ambient curing temperature. The strength-maturity model proposed by Yang provides better reliability in estimating in situ strength of concrete than that of Kim et al. and Pinto and Schindler.
Korean farmers have purchased agricultural dryer and low temperature storage system apart. In this study, the system was designed and constructed to investigate the practical application possibility of the air to air heat pump as drying and low temperature storage system for agricultural products with providing basic data. The performance and drying characteristics of the system evaluated by drying red pepper. The value of coefficient of performance of the system for heating was from 1.8 to 2.2 when ambient air temperature varied from 13$^{\circ}C$ to 23$^{\circ}C$. For operating the heat pump as dryer for drying red pepper by setting three drying air temperature of 50, 55 and 60$^{\circ}C$, specific moisture extraction rates meaning amount of energy consumption for removing moisture of 1kg from red pepper were 1.095, 1.017 and 1.094 kg$_{water}$/kWh, respectively. The drying period up to moisture ratio of 0.02 were 31, 26 and 21 hour, respectively. The lightness, redness, yellowness and chroma differences of red pepper dried by the heat pump dryer were lowered than those of red pepper dried by conventional heated air dryer except for yellowness difference at drying air temperature of 60$^{\circ}C$.

CFRP composites with light weight, high strength, and high elasticity by comparing with metal are widely used rather than previous steel plates. However, CFRP composite material has the weakness at hydrothermal and collapsed impact environment. Especially, moisture absorption into composite material can change molecule arrangement and chemical properties under hydrothermal environment. And static collapse experiment is the research in the differences of absorbed energy and deformation mode between moisture and non-moisture absorbed specimens. This study is compared and analyzed on the progress change of moisture absorption ratio after setting up the temperatures of 60 and 80 degrees C in order to comprehend how the change in the temperature influences on moisture absorption status inside CFRP composite materials.

According to the recent rapidly increasing that construction works are gradually Manhattanized mainly the grand scaled residential buildings, the foundation of the building that is related to safety is increasing for building as a grand scaled mat concrete. Because mat concrete can not be simultaneously placing of concrete in a great quantity due to the circumstance at the field, the inequal deformation of the tensile stress that according to the time lag of hydration heat between the upper layer and the lower layer is affecting as a cause that is the possibility of crack occurrence by increasing. Accordingly, this research checked the efficiency of super retard concrete in applying real structures, and we implemented the preparatory experiment to settle up the inequal deformation of the tensile stress substantially that is according to the time lag of placement between the upper layer and the lower layer by controlling the setting time using the super retarding agent. As the result of test, the more target of delay time lengthened, the more fluidity increased and air content indicated a little differences. There was from 2 to 10 hours between the standard curing and the outside curing at the setting time and in case of calculating the rate of mixing at real structure is required that mix promotion, increasing the amount of mixing, by setting up the curing temperature. The super retard concrete showed the result that in compressive strength, early-age strength was smaller than normal concrete whereas it was same or more figures from at the aging 28days because of the super retarding agent.

PURPOSES : The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum mix design of the content of 100 % reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) for spray injection application with different binder types. METHODS : Literature review revealed that spray injection method is the one of the efficient and economical methods for repairing a small defective area on an asphalt pavement. The Rapid-Setting Polymer modified asphalt mixtures using two types of rapid setting polymers-asphalt emulsion and a quick setting polymer asphalt emulsion-were subjected to the following tests to determine optimum mix designs and for performance comparison: 1) Marshall stability test, 2) Retained stability test, 3) Wet track abrasion test, and 4) Dynamic stability test. RESULTS and CONCLUSIONS : Type A, B, and C emulsions were tested with different mix designs using RAP aggregates, to compare the performances and determine the optimum mix design. Performance of mixtures with Type A emulsion exceeded that of mixtures with Type B and C emulsion in all aspects. In particular, Type A binder demonstrated the highest performance for WTAT at low temperature. It demonstrated the practicality of using Type A mixture during the cold season. Furthers studies are to be performed to verify the optimum mix design for machine application. Differences in optimum mix designs for machine application and lab application will be corrected through field tests.

It is essential to understand the infrared signature of a naval ship to survive against various missile attacks under variable environmental conditions. As guided missiles are developing to equip more accurate IR seekers, research works for countermeasure and IR stealth technology are strongly required. But challenging works are continuously suggested for predicting and analyzing IR signal status of naval ships to achieve low observable performance under various weather conditions, variable missions and developing threats. In this study, overall guidelines of setting design criteria for low observable ships are proposed by considering varying environmental conditions including daily and seasonal variations. Test and evaluation criteria for newly constructed ships for target and background temperature difference is proposed as a design criteria which can be predicted by change of condition and ship's speed. Through the proposed techniques and procedures, it is expected to establish the measurement and evaluation criteria by using temperature, IR Signal differences between the ship and the background.
This study analyzed by simulation using TRNSYS as well as by experiment on the solar district heating system installed for the first time for the district heating system in Bundang. Simulation analysis using TRNSYS focused on the thermal behavior and long-term thermal efficiency of solar system. Experiment carried out for the reliability of simulation system. This solar system where the circuits of two different collectors, flat plate and vacuum tube collector, are connected in series by a collector heat exchanger, and the collection characteristics of each circuit varies. Therefore, these differences must be considered for the system's control. This system uses variable flow rate control in order to obtain always setting temperature of hot water by solar system. Specifically, this is a system that heats returning district heating water (DHW) at approximately $60^{\circ}C$ using a solar collector without a storage tank, up to the setting temperature of approximately $85{\sim}95^{\circ}C$ To realize this, a flat plate collector and a vacuum tube collector are used as separate collector loops. The first heating is performed by a flat plate collector loop and the second by a vacuum tube collector loop. In a gross collector area basis, the mean system efficiency, for 4 years, of a flat plate collector is 33.4% and a vacuum tube collector is 41.2%. The yearly total collection energy is 2,342GJ and really collection energy per unit area ($m^2$) is 1.92GJ and 2.37GJ respectively for the flat plate vacuum tube collector. This result is very important on the share of each collector area in this type of solar district heating system.

Creating standards on thermal environment has been organized traditionally based on the youth and the manhood who are in mainly active layer of a society. However, traditional creating standards have differences from the physiology of the aged who have weak physical ability than younger person. As a result, it causes a health problem of the aged. Therefore, In this study, we had a basic study to create a comfortable thermal environment which had considered to a physical ability and a physiology of the aged, and build a ecological residence space to maintain health. We had several experiments with the aged; Experiment, Comfort Sensation Vote, Mean Skin Temperature and Analyzing HRV. The result have following by: 1)For the aged, the summer recommend temperature, $26^{\circ}C$, is appropriate within first 30 ~ 40 minutes, but it should be increasing the temperature after that time. 2) By considering PMV status and thermal feeling of the aged, they are prefer to higher temperature than normal setting of air-condition system. 3) In the condition of the summer recommend temperature, $26^{\circ}C$, they had answered in neutral or comfort with the comfort sensation vote. However, we had figure out that they had stress in a lower temperature by analyzing the result of HRV.

To investigate the effort of drying methods on the physicochemical properties of agar, gel strength, viscosity, melting and setting point, and phase transition by differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) during its heating were determined. In addition the structural differences of agar powder by scanning electron microscope (SEM) was examined. The most shortest onset temperature of gel strength increase was extruding method among any other methods. Viscosity of agar with hot air method, 400.00 cps at $45^{\circ}C$, was markedly increased, but with spraying and extruding ones were little change. The melting and setting point, and the temperature for maximum endothermic and enthalpy for agar with extruding one, $80.01^{\circ}C,\;36.05^{\circ}C\;and\;61.72^{\circ}C,\;0.73\;cal/g$, respectively, were lowest among the drying ones. But in the case of reheating after gelling, there were little change in all methods. Observing the surface structure of agar with SEM, extruding method showed the most unstable with absorptive property.
Two marine bivalve shells were collected from the eastern and western coastal regions of Korea, respectively. Stable oxygen and carbon isotope profiles are constructed using the incremental sampling along the axis of maximum growth to provide the continuous ${\delta}^{18}$O and ${\delta}^{13}$C records, which register the physical, biological and chemical properties of seawater where the organisms live. Cycles in the ${\delta}^{18}$O profiles are interpreted as annual along with the identification of annual growth bands; the maximum ${\delta}^{18}$O values correspond with the coldest temperature of seawater whereas the minimum ${\delta}^{18}$O values with the warmest temperature. The primary control on the amplitude of the ${\delta}^{18}$O profiles is seasonal variation of seawater temperature. The offset of the baseline between ${\delta}^{18}$O values of the two specimens is attributed to differences in both temperature and seawater ${\delta}^{18}$O values between two localities. The ${\delta}^{13}$C profiles show the similar seasonality of carbon cycling associated with phytoplankton productivity. The offset in the ${\delta}^{13}$C profiles between two specimens may be, as in the case of oxygen isotope profile, attributed to the different ${\delta}^{13}$C value of the seawater DIC (dissolved inorganic carbon) between the western coast and the eastern coast. Relationships between the shell isotopic composition and the coastal water properties of shell growth are readily interpreted from the ${\delta}^{18}$O-${\delta}^{13}$C pair diagram of the shell isotope data, similar to the use of salinity-${\delta}^{18}$O diagram for identifying water masses. The preliminary stable isotope results of this study suggest that mollusk shell isotope geochemistry may be useful to monitor the properties of water masses in the coastal and inner shelf setting around Korea and improve the interpretation of paleoceanography, provided the fossil mollusks are well preserved.
