  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine womens' perceptions regarding influenza vaccination during pregnancy among Korean childbearing women. Methods: Data was collected using focus group interviews from June to September, 2010. Forty Korean women participated in 13 focus groups. After obtaining permission from participants, each session of the focus group was audio-taped and transcribed verbatim. The responses were analyzed utilizing qualitative content analysis. Results: Forty women ranging from 26 to 43 participated in the study. The major themes were safety concerns; effects of fetal protection and infection prevention; lack of perceived needs; and encouragement as well as concerns from others. Participants raised questions on whether the vaccine was safe and effective, and concerns about the potential harmful effect of influenza vaccine to their bodies and the fetus. The major reason for influenza vaccination during pregnancy was to protect self and fetus. Also, clinician's recommendation was the facilitating factors for influenza vaccination during pregnancy. Conclusion: The findings suggest that concerns associated with influenza vaccination should be considered when educating childbearing women about the influenza vaccine during pregnancy.

  • This study is an attempt to furnish some helpful data for the maximum use of online information retrieval systems based on the comparative analysis of commands and operating terms employed by DIALOG, ORBIT and BRS which are three largest information retrieval systems in the world. To begin with, the historical development, service contents and retrieval functions of three systems were overviewed in the second chapter, on the basis of which the concrete functions and contents of the commands and the operating terms of the three systems were compared and analyzed one another. Commands were explained divided into basic and special ones. The basic commands subdivided into 44 items were put into the form of a diagram(Table 1). The special commands were first subdivided into search commnad, output-related commands and su n.0, pplementary commands, and then 14 items of which were comparatively analyzed and were represented as a chart(Table 2). In addition, any stand-alone commands employed by each system were also analyzed as a chart(Table 3). The Operating terms other than commands were subdivided into 16 items and were represented as a chart(Table 4). Password, inverted file, search step number in search session, etc were explained to the very detailed extent. A self-evident, single word is that the through understanding of commands is essential to the maximm use of all the functions of each of three systems.

  • A very promising application of active RFID systems is the electronic seal, an electronic device to guarantee the authenticity and integrity of freight containers. To provide freight containers with a high level of tamper resistance, the security of electronic seals must be ensured. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of an electronic seal protection system. First, we propose the eSeal Protection Protocol (ePP). Next, we implement and evaluate various cryptographic primitives as building blocks for our protocol. Our experimental results show that AES-CBC-MAC achieves the best performance among various schemes for message authentication and session key derivation. Finally, we implement a new electronic seal system equipped with ePP, and evaluate its performance using a real-world platform. Our evaluation shows that ePP guarantees a sufficient performance over an ARM9-based interrogator.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of an education program for mothers of late-preterm infants on parenting confidence, breastfeeding rate, and infants' growth and readmission rate. Methods: The participants were 53 mothers of late-preterm infants (26 in the experimental group and 27 in the control group). The experimental group was administered the late-preterm care education program while the control group received standard care. The program consisted of two sessions during hospitalization after birth, one session at the time of discharge, and telephone and social networking service consultations at weekly intervals for the month following discharge. The collected data were analyzed using the t-test, x2 test, and repeated-measures analysis of variance. Results: Parenting confidence and the breastfeeding rate were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group. However, there was no significant difference in the late-preterm infants' growth and readmission rates between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: A care education program for mothers of late-preterm infants can be a useful nursing intervention in clinical practice.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a dating violence prevention program for middle school students. Method: The development of a web-based dating violence prevention program proceeded through the stages of analysis, design, development, implement, and evaluation in addition to designing a randomized control group pre-post trial to test its effects. The effects of the program were analyzed using dating violence awareness, sex role, anger and aggression. Collected data was analyzed using SPSS 19.0. Result: We posted the results on our website (http://www.stopviolence.co.kr) to complete our web-based dating violence prevention program. The program was conducted as group education on a small scale for 90 minutes per session during 8 sessions in total. The Web-based dating violence prevention program was effective in increasing awareness of middle school students on the dating violence, changing sex role attitudes positively, and decreasing anger and aggression in trouble situations. Conclusion: We strongly recommend using this web-based dating violence prevention program to prevent dating violence.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a Career Search Program on career search efficacy, career search behavior, and career decision making for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of a quasi-experimental design was used. Fifty first grade nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. We used a Career Search Program which was held 6 times over 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and independent t-test were used for statistical analysis with SPSS 19.0. Results: There were significant increases in career search efficacy (t=2.07, p=.044) and career search behavior(t=2.65, p=.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, career decision making was not significantly changed (t=0.96, p=.342). Conclusion: These results suggest that a Career grade Search Program has an effect on increasing career search efficacy and career search behavior in first grade nursing students. In addition, more programs to impact career decision making should be developed for nursing college students.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of self-help management program which strengthens self-efficacy for post stroke elders who attend day care center in Chongju. One group pretest-posttest design was used, and the subjects were 7 post stroke elders with hemiparesis. The self-help management program consisted of 5 sessions and each session included group education on stroke, ROM exercise, recreation and self-care strategies. Those strategies for encouraging and reinforcing self-efficacy provided verbal persuasion, performance accomplishment and vicarious experience. All subjects were questioned before and after the program about ADLs, IADLs, self-efficacy, self-care behavior and depression. The analysis of data revealed that the program was effective to increase the IADLs, self-efficacy and self-care behavior. However, there was no significant difference between pre and post ADLs and depression. The results indicated that this program may be adopted to improve the physical and psychological function of post stroke elderly patients in community settings.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the current study was to examine the effects of electromyography (EMG)-biofeedback training on lower extremity muscle activity and balance of patients with total knee replacement (TKR). Methods: Subjects were randomly allocated to two groups: experimental and control group. Subjects in the experimental group (n=10) were provided with quadriceps setting exercise by EMG-biofeedback (QSE+BF) and those in the control group were provided with QSE. Subjects in both groups were provided with the respective training programs for 20 minutes per session, five times per week, for a period of six weeks. To test significance, data analysis was performed using repeated-ANOVAs. Results: Statistically significant differences in muscle activity of the rectus femoris muscle and the vastus lateralis, and dynamic balance ability were observed in the experimental group, compared with the control group. In comparison of the muscle activity of the rectus femoris muscle and the vastus lateralis, and dynamic balance ability between different training periods within the groups, both groups showed statistically significant differences. Conclusion: EMG-biofeedback training is effective in improving lower extremity muscle activity and balance ability of patients with TKR, and should be effective in patients with other diseases.
