The world is changing drastically by digital information technology and ubiquitous networking. Meanwhile, with the demographic avalanche, South Korea officially became an 'ultra-aging society' in 2026. Simultaneously, this demographic change will also stimulate a cultural climate which facilitates the formation and dissemination of 'slow culture' from the existent urban 'fast culture' which has been weakening the retirement living. One of the fundamental connections with the slow movement appears in the cooking and dining area. With this point of view, this study aims to identify the needs and behaviors of the elderly in current restaurants and a digitally planned multi-purpose one for the future. Small group workshop was employed for this study. In order to elicit detailed information from the elderly group members, scenarios were developed. A group facilitator kept the discussion on track by asking a series of open-ended questions meant to stimulate discussion. As the results, it was revealed that the elderly were interested in digitally planned restaurant which provides one-stop service including entertainment activities, health related contents and socializing with family. Even though this study took restaurant scenarios, the ideas in them also provide holistic perspectives on the direction of marketing and planning strategies on various future environments and services.
Objective: This paper aims to discuss the case study of Design Dive: Service Design Workshop that was held to improve public services by applying service design methods(February 2011~May 2011). In so doing, it suggests the ways in which public services can be innovated from a design-oriented perspective. Background: As citizens' social and cultural awareness of services is enhanced, there have been emerging needs for innovation of public services. Accordingly, the methods of service design which is to design holistically users' experiences have been considered as an important means to innovate public services. Method: In this regard, the present paper introduces and explores the example of the Design Dive Workshop as a platform whereby service design is achieved. In particular, it analyzes the results of the workshop. Results: The paper presents the results of the workshop and the 10 possible scenarios of public services that were explored in the workshop and suggests models for empowering the workshop participants. Conclusion: Service design is a very effective methodology for providing a new perspective on user-oriented design of public services. The workshop had educational effects on enhancing the participants' awareness of the role of public service design. Application: The Design Dive workshop contributed to improving public services and achieved positive educational results. The methods developed in the workshop can effectively be applied to various occasions on which public services should be improved.
Purpose: Do close linkages among employees during service encounters always enhance customer satisfaction? Drawing on literature in social psychology, this research argues that under certain circumstances close linkages among employees undermine customer satisfaction. More specifically, this research explores a service failure context and shows that higher task interaction among employees during service encounters leads to higher perceived firm entitativity, resulting in an individual employee's service failure being detrimental to customer satisfaction with the firm. Data and research methodology: A series of experiments using scenarios across different service contexts was used in order to test hypotheses. Data was collected via Amazon Mechanical Turk and the models were tested using Hayes PROCESS. Results: The results show that interactions among employees during service result in 1) lower satisfaction with the firm and 2) lower revisit intentions in the future when there is a service failure by an individual employee. Following the main effects analysis, mediation analysis shows that the effect of employee interaction on customer satisfaction with the firm and revisit intention is mediated by perceived firm entitativity. Implications: By examining contexts where employee interaction may be detrimental to firms, this research provides novel insights on how to manage communications among service employees.
The information service management models developed thus far have put their focuses mostly on technical dimensions of information systems (IS), finding their rationale from the goods-dominant logic (GDL) that IS as goods has value in itself. Information systems, however, is nothing more than a mechanism by which value is delivered to the users. According to the service-dominant logic (SDL), value is created and determined not at the time serve is made by the providers but at the time it is consumed by the users. The users therefore should be regarded as active value creators not as passive consumers of the value delivered by the providers. Based on the service-dominant logic, DISQM (Dynamic Information Service Quality Model) is developed. DISQM's backbone is designed in causal loop diagrams referring to and reinterpreting in systems thinking the 'Parasuraman, Zeithaml & Berry's GAP Model' and 'SERVQUAL' as an operational tool for the GAP Model, and the main IS success constructs are mapped onto the model exploiting the 'DeLone & MacLean's IS Success Model'. With VENSIM simulation software, this paper also shows how DISQM works in computer-simulation settings. After confirming DISQM's validity with the base simulation run, two scenarios are developed for the exemplary purpose and tested in terms of IS quality, service quality, and net benefits from the service for the public information service. Implications from the simulation runs are also discussed.

Previous QoS-aware service composition methods mainly focus on how to generate composite service with the optimal QoS efficiently for a single request. However, in the real application scenarios, there are multiple service requests and multiple service providers. It is more important to compose services with suboptimal QoS and maintain the load balance between services. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a service composition method, named as dynamically change and balancing composition method (DCBC). It assumes that the QoS of service is not static, and the services can adjust the value of QoS to gain more opportunities to be selected for composition. The method mainly includes two steps, which are the preprocessing step and the service selection step. In the preprocessing step, a backward global best QoS calculation is performed which regarding the static and dynamic QoS respectively; then guided by the global QoS, the feasible services can be selected efficiently in the service selection step. The experiments show that the DCBC method can not only improve the overall quality of composite services but also guarantee the fulfill ratio of requests and the load balance of services.
Since Amazon announced plans to deliver goods to customers using drones, many countries and companies have become interested in drone logistics delivery services and have begun testing drone delivery for various goods based on service scenarios. Whenever there is news of a successful drone delivery anywhere in the world, people increasingly expect the delivery of goods through drones. Although delivery services using drones are currently in a trial-and-error stage, given technical limitations and institutional and social constraints, a complete shift to drone logistics delivery is not yet possible. In anticipation of the drone logistics delivery service, recent drone delivery tests, current service trends, and requirements for drone delivery service will be examined.
The quality of service(QoS) model should be presented with the optimal network design to effectively provide the multimedia data services between users and converged services with mobile or TV in the next-generation Internet. In specific, the method to provide differentiated services for each user is needed in the given Internet node to offer the previously negotiated QoS with the user. In this paper, the performance of the QoS enabling technologies in the differentiated services(DiffServ) network domain is analyzed. The QoS offering model and QoS metrics are presented to analyze the performance of the major scheduling algorithms. Under the real network topology and virtual service scenarios in the university, the NS-2 network simulation based on the discrete-event is performed. The results show that the ratio-based scheduling method is more effective rather than the bandwidth-assignment method.

The growth of Internet technologies and the widespread use of mobile devices have been paving the way for the increasing use of conferencing services. Two types of systems have been designed to provide conferencing services: 1) a conferencing system using session control over a peer-to-peer (P2P) network and 2) an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) conferencing system. The IMS conferencing system was developed to adapt to a server-based centralized system, whereas the benefits of the P2P operational model in providing such conference services are widely acknowledged. However, each system provides conferencing services only to its own users. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an interworking model to support multimedia conferencing service between the P2P environment and IMS networks. We also introduce protocol architecture and some service scenarios. To verify this system model and the design architecture, we perform an actual implementation and show experienced test results.
The domestic simple payment service was not activated yet compared to foreign countries and there are many things to complement in the legal, institutional, and technical aspects. The future image of the domestic electronic payment propulsion was considered by the scenario planning focusing on the simple payment. Total 6 future scenarios were drawn through the scenario planning, and 3 major strategy directions for attaining the preferred future scenario were drawn. This study drew a meaningful scenario through various analyses and industry specialist questionnaire about the future of the simple payment service which will be a crucial change of the domestic electronic payment under the uncertain future situation, and suggested an implication for the government and every interested party who provides the industrial service to prepare for the future.
