  • This paper introduce an algorithm for service restoration in electric power distribution systems. Power utility performs service restoration in order to restore out-of-service areas at fault. Developing effective service restoration program is a cost-effective approach to improve service reliability and to enhance customer satisfaction. The main objective in service restoration program is to restore as much load as possible by transferring de-energized loads via network reconfigurations to other supporting distribution feeders without violating operating and engineering constrains.

Optimal Design of PSC-I Girder Bridge Considering Life Cycle Cost (생애주기비용을 고려한 PSC-I형 교량의 최적설계)

  • This paper presents the procedure for the optimal design of a PSC-I girder bridge considering life cycle cost (LCC). The load carrying capacity curves for the concrete deck, PSC-I girder and $\pi$-type pier were derived and used for the estimate of service lives. Total life cycle cost for the service life was calculated as sum of initial cost, damage cost, maintenance cost, repair and rehabilitation cost, user cost, and disposal cost. The advanced First Order Second Moment method was used to estimate the damage cost. The optimization method was applied to the design of PSC-I girder bridge. The objective function was set to the annual cost, which is defined by dividing the total life cycle cost by the service life, and constraints were formulated on the basis of Korean Standards. The optimal design was performed for various service lives and the effects of design factors were investigated.

  • Recent researches of network structure are moving to high-level networks because there are already many research results of low-level network. Especially, current network services has been changed to the multimedia service using multicast routing such as IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) service. And then previous multicast services were provider oriented. So previous multicast structures were organized server/client model. But future multicast services will make user oriented services. Therefore there will be many service providers in the future. At this point, we study P2P network for supporting multi provider. So we research load balancing and contents lookup protocols in P2P network. In this paper, we propose network protocol and system based on super peer P2P for load balancing and efficiently service search. And we considered mobile environment for mobile IPTV.

  • When load areas on a feeder are deenergized due to faults and scheduled outage, operators need to identify neighboring feeders, try to restore customers and minimize out-of-service areas. These cases include knowledge of system states and various constraints such as voltage drop. This paper concerns the load transfer in fault restoration and scheduled outage. Also, the operating constraints such as line current capacity, relay trip current, transformer capacity, voltage drop and line loss are considered. This expert system can propose the optimal load transfer method by analyzing the system state and considering the constraints.

  • The wheel bearing hub unit is developed type of wheel bearing unified with the hub parts. It has advantage of reducing the weight and the number of components. And, it also improves uniformity of manufacturing quality, In order to design the wheel bearing hub units, many techniques are used such as load analysis, structure analysis and bearing characteristics analysis and so forth. These techniques need highly accurate load conditions founded on service conditions. In this study, to design the wheel bearing hub units used widespread in passenger cars, the service load was measured through driving tests on the public roads and in the special events. The public roads are classified into highway, intercity road, rural road, urban road, and unpaved road so as to know what the characteristics of the road loads are. The results of the tests showed that the wheel force was relative to the lateral acceleration, and also could be calculated from the lateral acceleration. The lateral acceleration was measured from 0.0G to 0.6G in general driving on the public roads, with different distributions in each road type. In special events, the maximum lateral acceleration was measured from 0.8G to 1.3G.

Load Carrying Capacity Assessment of Bridges with Elastic Supports Application (탄성지점의 적용에 따른 교량의 내하력평가)

  • This study applied elastic supports in order to evaluate load carrying capacity using measurement data obtained from load tests actively and utilizing various evaluation methods. In order to confirm the adequacy of structural analysis based on elastic supports and to improve the reliability of experiment results, we conducted a deflection test with flexural beams prepared as overhanging beams and, based on the results, performed precision safety diagnosis for real bridges under public service for improving the load carrying capacity evaluation method for bridges under public service. In the results of the bending test, compared to deflection calculated by the existing method, deflection obtained by applying elastic supports was closer to the actually measured deflection. In the results of evaluating load carrying capacity for a 3 span continuous steel box girder bridge just after its completion, load carrying capacity by elastic supports was smaller by up to 39% than that by the existing method. When the load carrying capacity of bridges is evaluated by the existing method the results vary among engineers due to lack of guidelines for evaluation such as the application of stress modification factor. This study was conducted as an effort to solve this problem through active research.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a design method of tower service lift for offshore wind power system, as well as to conduct structure analysis of the service lift system. The service lift system will be built in the internal area of tower of the offshore wind power system. Design and structure analysis for the tower service lift system are conducted to clarify the stability and reliability of the system. Main objective of the design is to secure sufficient capability of transportation of workers and equipment with satisfactory performance within the designed tolerance limit. Total deformation and equivalent stress of the lift system by external load are examined using the results of structure analysis.

  • DNS(Domain Name System) is a huge distributed database that converts host name to IP address. We are expecting the importance of DNS is more increased because many Internet application services appear according to the continuous increase of Internet users and nearly all the Internet application services use DNS. To prevent the interruption of DNS service, DNS server is configured with primary DNS server and a secondary DNS server which takes the place of primary DNS server in case of the service interruption. But this scheme is difficult for providing DNS service constantly in case of DDoS attack, which brings about much network load or network problems in DNS server group. Therefore, This paper proposed the scheme to locally distribute load of DNS server, and the use of address system to group the distributed DNS servers. Also, it proposed the authentication scheme of the correspondent server in case the server is changed in DNS server group having grouping address. In this paper, it is shown that the prosed scheme guarantees the improved service reliability with maintaining the present service performance through the evaluation. Through this, we can expect the high improved DNS service can be provided in the Internet environment in the future.

An effective load balancing among proxies for VOD service in mobile environments (모바일 환경에서 VOD 서비스를 위한 프락시간의 효율적인 로드밸런싱 기법)

  • The transcoding is a method which converts a multimedia stream to an adaptive format, such as frame rate and resolution, that can be played in the mobile devices. Due to the heavy consumption of CPU power for transcoding, the server in charge cannot supply all streams requested from clients if it is already occupied by several streams. The load balancing among proxies is a common approach for solving such problem. In addition to collaborative works for load balancing, the mobility must be taken into account in the mobile environments. Thus, the wired-network based algorithm is not suitable for the streams service in the mobile environments. In this paper, we propose an alternative scheme for cooperative proxy architecture that considers the case in which mobile devices are moving over other zones.

Structural Integrity Evaluation of CANFLEX Fuel Bundle by Hydraulic Drag Load

  • The CANFLEX fuel bundle has been developed by KAERI/AECL jointly to facilitate the use of various fuel cycles in CANDU-6 reactor. The structural analysis of the fuel bundles by hydraulic drag force is performed to evaluate the fuel integrity during the refuelling service. The present analysis method is newly developed for the structural integrity valuation by studying FEM modelling for the fuel bundles in a fuel channel. As compared the results of the mechanical strength test the displacement value of endplate given by analysis results shoo6 to be good agreement within 15% under the maximum design drag load. As the results of analysis, it is shown to keep the structural integrity of CANFLEX fuel bundles under hydraulic drag load during the refuelling service.
