자가용 전기설비 권장 사용기간에 대한 고찰 (A Consideration of the Expected Service Life Cycles of Electrical Equipments in Buildings)

  • This paper considers and suggests the life cycle of the power equipments installed in buildings. The target equipments were divided into 5 groups by a couple of conditions, and a theoretical consideration and domestic foreign case studies were carried out. As a result, the most appropriate life cycles and monitoring periods were suggested for each group. The suggested results are expected to practically help the field electricians determine whether they have to replace the deteriorated equipments or not.

Toxoplasmic meningoencephalitis in a stray cat in Korea

  • A dead stray cat was necropsied for zoonotic feline disease monitoring. Grossly, there were no specific lesions. Major microscopic lesions included lymphocytic meningoencephalitis, malacia, and tissue cysts in the cerebral and cerebellar cortex. The size and shape of tissue cysts were identical to those of Apicomplexa including Toxoplasma (T.) gondii. Bradyzoites in the tissue cyst were strongly positive for T. gondii by immunohistochemistry. Electron microscopy revealed that bradyzoites within the tissue cyst were similar to the morphological features of T. gondii. Fresh tissue samples were examined by a polymerase chain reaction assay and resulted in a specific band of T. gondii only in the brain. Based on the results, this case was diagnosed as toxoplasmosis. This is the first case of toxoplasmic meningoencephalitis in a cat in Korea.

Development of a trivalent vaccine for prevention of co-infection by Miamiensis avidus and Tenacibaculum maritimum in farmed olive flounder

  • Scuticociliatosis, caused by the parasitic pathogen Miamiensis avidus, poses a significant threat to olive flounder farms in South Korea. Infected fish suffer from severe systemic infections affecting various organs, with potential secondary bacterial diseases. This study investigated the emergence of different M. avidus serotypes in 20 olive flounder farms on Jeju island, South Korea, from 2015 to 2020. Additionally, we identified Tenacibaculum maritimum as a co-infecting bacteria. Based on serotyping and monitoring data, we developed a trivalent vaccine targeting two serotypes of M. avidus and one strain of T. maritimum. The efficacy of the vaccine was evaluated under laboratory conditions and demonstrated a relative percentage of survival (RPS) of 75%, 80%, and 93% for M. avidus serotype I, M. avidus serotype II and T. maritimum, respectively. Furthermore, successful field trials conducted on four different olive flounder farms resulted in significantly higher survival rates (52%-76% RPS) and weight gains in vaccinated fish. Overall, this study presents an effective vaccine against M. avidus and T. maritimum infections in farmed olive flounder, making a valuable contribution to sustainable aquaculture in South Korea.

Application of numerical simulation of submersed rock-berm structure under anchor collision for structural health monitoring of submarine power cables

  • Submersed rock-berm structures are frequently used for protection of underwater lifelines such as pipelines and power cables. During the service life, the rock-berm structure can experience several accidental loads such as anchor collision. The consequences can be severe with a certain level of frequency; hence, the structural responses should be carefully understood for implementing a proper structural health monitoring method. However, no study has been made to quantify the structural responses because it is hard to deal with the individual behavior of each rock. Therefore, this study presents a collision analysis of the submersed rock-berm structure using a finite element software package by facilitating the smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method. The analysis results were compared with those obtained from the Lagrange method. Moreover, two types of anchors (stock anchor and stockless anchor), three collision points and two different drop velocities (terminal velocity of each anchor and 5 m/s) were selected to investigate the changes in the responses. Finally, the effect of these parameters (analysis method, anchor type, collision point and drop velocity) on the analysis results was studied. Accordingly, the effectiveness of the SPH method is verified, a safe rock-berm height (over 1 m) is proposed, and a gauge point (0.5 m above the seabed) is suggested for a structural health monitoring implementation.

  • 이 논문에서는 터미널 부분의 중요 신호를 유무선방식을 통하여 통합적으로 감시, 관리하기 위한 DCS 터미널 원격 감시 미들웨어를 설계 및 구현하고 미들웨어의 성능 및 기능을 평가하기 위해 터미널 부분의 릴레이들의 동작 상태 및 퓨즈의 이상 유무를 실시간으로 감시하기 위한 보드를 설계 제작한다. 제안된 DCS 터미널 원격감시 미들웨어는 각 릴레이들의 동작 상태를 실시간으로 확인이 가능하며 에러 발생 시 에러 유형을 즉시 제공하며 또한 릴레이의 규격 및 사용기간을 고려하여 교체시기를 알려주어 릴레이의 고장을 사전에 예방함으로써 산업분야의 경제적인 효과가 기대된다.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 정보통신 기술의 발전으로 인해 IT와 전통산업 간의 융합 기술을 적용한 응용서비스가 대두되고 이를 이용한 유해가스 감지 응용서비스로 자동 및 원격으로 항공기내환경을 모니터링하여 제어하고 유지 관리할 수 있는 무선 센서 네트워크기반의 유해가스환경 감지시스템에 대해 활발하게 논의되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 유해가스를 측정하여 모니터링 장치로 전송하는 무선 센서 네트워크센서노드, 센서노드로부터 수집한 데이터를 취합하고 디스플레이 및 서버로 환경정보를 전송하는 모니터링 관리장치와 또한 원격 모니터링을 위한 PC/스마트폰 기반 사용자 운용프로그램으로 구성하여, 항공기내에서 발생하는 유해가스 가스를 측정하고, 모니터링하는 무선 센서 네트워크기반의 실시간 모니터링 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다.

  • A mathematical model describing gear pump flow degradation in the presense of abrasive particles is presented. The model considers the operating parameters as Sommerfeld number, so that contamination sensitivity test results could be conversed to field application to predict contamination service life. A method to estimate the volumetric efficiency and the contamination level of a pump is proposed by measuring the temperature differences in the fluid. Test results show the validity of the theoretical establishments.

Application of Standard Terminologies for the Development of a Customized Healthcare Service based on a PHR Platform

  • The personal health record platform can store and manage medical records, health-monitoring data such as blood pressure and blood sugar, and life logs generated from various wearable devices. It provides services such as international standard-based medical document management, data pattern analysis and an intelligent inference engine, and disease prediction and domain contents. This study aims to construct a foundation for the transmission of international standard-based medical documents by mapping the diagnosis items of a general health examination, special health examination, life logs, health data, and life habits with the international standard terminology systems. The results of mapping with international standard terminology systems show a high mapping rate of 95.6%, with 78.8% for LOINC, 10.3% for SNOMED, and 6.5% when mapped with both LOINC and SNOMED.

보호용 살균제와 ergosterol 생합성 저해 살균제에 대한 고추 탄저병균의 약제 반응 (Response of Colletotrichum sup. Causing Red Pepper Anthracnose to Protective and Ergosterol Biosynthesis-inhibiting Fungicides)

  • 전국의 고추 재배지에서 1999년과 2002년에 채집한 병든 고추로부터 각각 130개와 258개의 고추 탄저병균을 분리한 후, 4종의 보호용 살균제와 3종의 ergosterol생합성 저해 살균제에 대한 균사 생장 저해 정도를 측정함으로서 살균제들에 대한 저항성 모니터링을 실시하였다. 1999년에 분리한 균주는 세 가지 보호용 살균제, 즉 dithianon, chlorothalonil 및 propineb에 대해서는 2002년의 균주보다 더 저항성을 보였다. 이에 반하여 다른 보호용 살균제인 iminoctadine에 대해서는 오히려 2002년의 균주가 더 저항성인 것으로 나타났다. 세 개의 ergosterol 생합성 저해(EBI) 살균제, 즉 tebuconazole, hexaconazole 및 prochloraz에 대해서는 2002년의 균주가 1999년의 균주보다 더 저항성이 컸으며, 2002년도의 균주들의 $EC_{50}$ 값은 1999년 균주들보다 1.2배 내지 4.4배가 높았다 위의 살균제들에 대한 탄저병균의 반응을 보면, 채집한 지역 간에 저항성을 차이가 크게 나타나고 있었다. 단기간내에 충북에서 분리한 균주들은 채집한 시기가 늦어질수록, 고추의 생육 초기에 주로 많이 사용되는 보호용 살균제들에 대한 $EC_{50}$값은 감소하였다. 그러나 ergosterol 생합성 저해 살균제에 대한 균주들의 반응은 정해진 생육 기간 중에는 변화가 거의 없었다.

안전한 건식 숙성육 제조를 위한 미생물 위해평가 및 HACCP 적용 방안 (Microbial Risk Assessment and HACCP Plan for the Safe Production of Dry Aged Meat)

  • Dry-aging is one of the traditional aging processes, especially for beef. This aging process is being popular, because it produces unique brown/roasted flavor and texture that consumers prefer. However, as it is exposed to outside without packaging food safety concerns have been raised. The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of total aerobic bacteria (TAB) and pathogenic bacteria in manufacturing environment and suggest the safety management plan for the production of dry-aged meat. Surface samples from 66 environmental and 6 beef carcass samples were collected. According to the monitoring results, the contamination levels of TAB were in the order of shelves (5.4±1.1 Log CFU/cm2), cotton gloves (2.9±0.2 Log CFU/cm2), and door knobs (2.8±0.4 Log CFU/cm2) in the dry-aging room. In the door knobs, the level of mold was higher than that of yeast. These results indicate that the mold spores may be cross-contaminated with environmental factors inside the aging room. The risk factors that may occur during the manufacturing process were presented and possibility of risk was determined. From the aspect of microbiology, aging and trimming steps were determined as the critical control points. The temperature of the aging room should be maintained below 10℃ and the humidity below 75-85%. Based on the monitoring and the risk assessment of the dry-aging process, we prepared the safety management plan for the production of dry-aged meat, and it should be useful in improving the food safety of dry-aged meat.
