  • Computer game is a result of integration of various academic areas, and the production of computer game requires knowledge and experience from various areas. This study demonstrates a game production process using Scratch. The intent was to experience the game development process and the production principle through actually building the core functions of a game using Scratch. As such, the computer game production principle was understood and it was made possible to learn more easily and more enjoyably the functions of multimedia and programming necessary for the production process. As the result, the learning of game production principles using Scratch was found to enhance the interest of the learner, and help with the understanding of game structure and learning software/programming language.

  • Screen climbing is a kind of screen sports. In screen climbing, the software program is executed in a computer system and climbing is progressed by the interaction between a climber and the content of the screen. We implemented a screen climbing game with the ancient cave exploration considering the development of children and the children's motivation to sports climbing. The content of the game is projected to the artificial climb wall and the interaction between a user and the game is done by a user's input of Kinect's depth data. The game is popular with the children in the children's exhibition event. There should be implemented more screen climbing game.

  • In this study, we developed a visual novel game as one of the donation campaign strategies. In study 1, we developed a visual novel game for the elderly who live alone. In study 2, we also examine how game affects personal distress and empathic concern, the emotions that trigger help behavior. The results showed that game can promote both emotions effectively. Moreover, empathic concern completely mediated between game and donation intention. This result suggests that visual novel games can be an effective tool for stimulating user's altruistic motivation to do donation behavior.

  • Purpose: Earthquake disasters are frequently occur unpredictable situations due to various variables and unexpected situations. As a result, the work process itself is not uniform, making it difficult for public officials in the disaster safety department to familiarize themselves with the earthquake field manual. This paper is specifically and accurately grasp the current work situation conducted by the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office and present a plan for designing serious game scenarios necessary for field manual learning. Method: In this study, scenarios were designed based on the GBS(Goal Based Scenario) model, and in the process of assigning missions and roles based on the Gyeongsangbuk-do earthquake field manual, public officials related to earthquakes were able to acquire knowledge and skills to solve practical tasks. Result: Scenario data of the proposed technique was implemented as a systematic procedure by processing various earthquake-related information into logical data and simplifying and abstracting it for game expression for earthquake situation training. Conclusion: In the event of an earthquake due to learning through serious games, related public officials of Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial are expected to be able to respond quickly to various earthquake disasters.

  • In this study, game-aided human life type game design method is suggested. It mainly deals with the permissiveness of the game rules and coenesthesia of the game that are fitted with the agility of the elders such as the performance of a selective response. And 'Rolling hoops Balance Game' has been implemented by applying the game-aided human life type game. Since the pressure sensors are installed on each parts of the chair type game controller, to play the game, a gamer simply uses her hands and feet to press the sensors without requirements of the complex movements. The goal of the game are the leg muscles strength and improvement of the body balancing ability. In addition, the game graphics consists of sensory stimuli package(Namazi, Haynes, reminiscence therapy, 1994) to make friendly mood for elders. We have tested 50 elders who were more than 65 years old. 74% of them answered they were satisfied totally for the game play. It is a meaningful result that 88% of participants replied they would like to play the game again.

  • In this paper, we propose gesture recognition based 3D Serious Games to prevent dementia. These games are designed to enhance the effect of preventing dementia by helping increase brain usage and physical activities of users by the entire body gesture recognition. The existing cameras used for gesture recognition technology are limited in terms of recognition ratio and operation range. For more stable recognition of the body gestures, we recognized users with a 3D depth camera, obtained joint data of users, and analyzed joint motions to recognize gestures of the body. Game contents were designed to practice memory, reasoning, calculation, and spatial recognition focusing on the atrophy of brain cells as a major cause of dementia. Game results of each user were saved and analyzed to measure how their recognition skills improved.

  • Recently many studies has been conducted for interactive game to contents immersion through visual stimuli. Among them, Multi-Plane Image tech is suitable for projecting video in wide views, but it is difficult to perform calibration and mapping tasks for viewing separately. In this paper, we developed a calibration mapping applies to the field archery game space in the form of CAVE. As a result, we maintained the resolution confirmed the space through the video without distortion and expect to be applicable to the fields requiring presence, such as training contents.

IoT technologies which applied to these fields consist of sensor network technology and middleware, application. Currently, IoT technology is applied to various fields such as health care, home care, automotive, transportation, construction, agriculture, environment, food, and etc, based on its technologies. This paper focuses on discussion of the IoT development trend in game field. In order to achieve this purpose, first, the IoT technologies for game development based on sensor network technology and middleware, application is mentioned. Second, covers serious game and gamification that is expected to be a growing that is expected to be a growing, by applying IoT technologies to the game field. It can help for game developers by using IoT technologies.

Education, medical, defense such as industry and convergence are creating greater added value. The government also identified the importance of the games industry, and the budget set, game development, support business, human resources development policy, along with business and industry to industry to solve the social problems of regulatory policy and operations are being announced. However, by accessing it from a different perspective on the continued growth of the industry's problems is thought to act as. Thus, policymakers in government positions and in fact industry to conduct business in the private sector to reflect both the position of the design of a new development approach is needed. In this study examines the current game industry development policies, as well as activities at corporate level and industry level, the activities of national at the same time that the service should consider using a model with an integrated perspective of the games industry development policy is proposed.

  • The U-Healthcare era has evolved with the development of the Internet of things (IoT) in the early stages of being connected as a society. Already, many changes such as increased well-being and the extension of human life are becoming evident across cultures. Korea entered the growing group of aging societies in 2017, and its silver industry is expected to grow rapidly by adopting the IoT of a super-connected society. In particular, the senior shift phenomenon has resulted in increased interest in the promotion of the health and well-being of the emergent silver generation which, unlike the existing silver generation, is highly active and wields great economic power. This study conducted in-depth interviews to investigate the characteristics of the new silver generation, and to develop the design for a wearable serious game that intends to boost the interest of the elderly in exercise and fitness activities according to their personalized physical training regimes as prescribed by the U-Hospital service. The usage scenario of this wearable serious game for the 'U-silver generation' is derived from social necessity. Medical professionals can utilize this technology to conduct health examinations and to monitor the rehabilitation of senior patients. The elderly can also use this tool to request checkups or to interface with their healthcare providers. The wearable serious game is further aimed at mitigating concerns about the deterioration of the physical functions of the silver generation by applying personalized exercise prescriptions. The present investigation revealed that it is necessary to merge the on / off line community activities to meet the silver generation's daily needs for connection and friendship. Further, the sustainability of the serious game must be enhanced through the inculcation of a sense of accomplishment as a player rises through the levels of the game. The proposed wearable serious game is designed specifically for the silver generation that is inexperienced in using digital devices: simple game rules are applied to a familiar interface grounded on the gourmet travels preferred by the target players to increase usability.
