A highly efficient linear and compactly integrated series-type Doherty power amplifier (PA) has been developed for wideband code-division multiple access handset applications. To overcome the size limit of a typical Doherty amplifier, all circuit elements, such as matching circuits and impedance transformers, are fully integrated into a single monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC). The implemented PA shows a very low idle current of 25 mA and an excellent power-added efficiency of 25.1% at an output power of 19 dBm by using an extended Doherty concept. Accordingly, its average current consumption was reduced by 51% and 41% in urban and suburban environments, respectively, when compared with a class-AB PA. By adding a simple predistorter to the PA, the PA showed an adjacent channel leakage ratio better than -42 dBc over the whole output power range.
A Simple AC complex circuit analysis for LCL type series resonant converter with phase shift control is proposed. Based on these analyses, a set of characteristic curves which allows a optimal design procedure for this converter is shown, without increasing the volt-ampere rating of tank circuit Especially, inverter output peak current can be minimized in both full load and partial load conditions. The presented design considerations can make the load range wide from full loads to light loads achieving turn-on with zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation. The detailed analysis and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed design algorithms. (author). refs., figs., tab.
In this paper, a new detection method of series arc-fault signals occurring at the wiring of home appliances is proposed. The discrete wavelet transform was used for the numerical analysis of the variation rate in peak, RMS, noise energy, shoulder of the arc-fault current wave. As a results, the arc distinction threshold value of these variation rates was about 0.1 in most cases. The arc-fault current of the loads with the active PFC circuit showed a high rate of variation in noise energy and shoulder, but arc-fault current of the loads without the active PFC circuit showed a high rate of variation in peak and RMS. The arc fault current in resistive loads showed a high rate of variation in shoulder.
In this paper input Series-Output Parallel connected converter configuration for high voltage power conversion applications is proposed and a control method to solve the problems of Input Series-Output Paralles connected converter configuration is introduced. In this configuration snubber circuit or voltage balancing controller that is necessary for the series connection of switching devices is not needed. The effectiveness of this proposed configuration is verified by simulation.
This paper deals with the configuration, operating principles, systematic calculation method of parameter and optimization method of test circuit for parallel current injection method, series voltage injection method and hybrid synthetic test method as the method for performance test of circuit breaker with extra high interrupting capacity. The test method depicted above is applied to short-circuit making and breaking test (operating sequence :Os CdOs, Od-CdOs) and out-of-phase tests(operating sequence :Os, CdOs) for performance test of the newly-developed 420kV, 50kA and 800kV 50kV puffer-type gas circuit-breaker according to IEC 60056 and IEC 60427. The testing results, evaluation of equivalence for test and analyzed results are also presented in this paper.
A software, called touch-one, is developed about the determination of short-circuit values and protective co-ordination in power system. The used solution algorithm reviewed intensively, and the protective co-ordination determination technique presented by using the circuit-breaker's current-limitation characteristic. The protective coordination concerns the behaviour of two devices placed in series in an electrical network, with a short-circuit downstream circuit-breaker. It has two basic principles: First, discrimination which is an increasing requirement of low voltage electrical distribution systems. Second, which is less well known: cascading, which consists of installing a device, whose breaking capacity is less than the three-phase short-circuit current at its terminals and helped by main circuit-breaker. With this software, we can construct a electric-power system which is reliable and economic according to user's purpose.
To increase the capacity of secondary cells, an appropriate serial composition of the battery modules is essential. The unbalance that may occur due to the series connection in such a serial composition is the main cause for declines in the efficiency and performance of batteries. Various studies have been conducted on the use of a passive or active topology to eliminate the unbalance from the series circuit of battery modules. Most topologies consist of a complex structure in which the Battery Management System (BMS) detects the voltage of each module and establishes the voltage balancing in the independent electrical power converters installed on each module by comparing the module voltage. This study proposes a new magnetic flux sharing type DC/DC converter topology in order to remove voltage unbalances from batteries. The proposed topology is characterized by a design in which all of the DC/DC convertor outputs connected to the modules converge into a single transformer. In this structure, by taking a form in which all of the battery balancing type converters share magnetic flux through a single harmonic wave transformer, all of the converter voltages automatically converge to the same voltage. This paper attempts to analyze the dynamic properties of the proposed circuit by using a Programmable Synthesizer Interface Module (PSIM), which is useful for power electronics analysis, while also attempting to demonstrate the validity of the proposed circuit through experimental results.
A study of two phase chopper system with four separate groups of DC motors in powering. A novel two phase chopper system with four separate groups of DC motors which applies the principles of two phase chopper with two separate groups of DC motors is dealt with this article. The main circuit consists of eight sets of chopping parts, four diodes and four separate groups of DC motors. Four groups of DC motors are driven through the series and parallel connections to each other in accordance with the operating conditions of the choppers. Although the proposed chopper circuit requires more circuit elements than the conventional two phase chopper system with combined output or two phase chopper system with two separate groups of DC motors, it has the following advantages` (1). It is possible to drive twice as much motors as conventional system does, using esisting receiving-and equipments and motors. (2). It is possible to control load voltage continuously from 0 to source voltage by changing time-ratio from 0 to 1. (3). Load current division becomes equalized. Therefore it is possible to drive not only series motors but also shunt and separately exited motors. (4). When smoothing reactor L is small, harmonic components of the proposed circuit is not so large. Therefore, the value of L can be determined from viewpoints of allowable value of ripple-ratio and current unbalance factor.
According to the mechanical-electrical coupling characteristics and the electrical Impedance property of resistor-inductor-capacitor(RLC) series resonant circuit, the mechanical impedance analysis of a bimorph piezoceramic patch shunted with a series RLC resonant circuit is conducted. The displacement transfer function of a cantilever beam bonded with a piezoelectric shunt damping module is deduced in the case of single mode vibration of the beam. By the use of vibration damping theory of tuned mass damper system, the parameter optimization of piezoelectric shunt damping system is performed. The optimal resonant state of the shunting circuit can be obtained when the resister and conductor are optimally adjusted. Test results show that the vibration control effect as well improved with optimized piezoelectric shunt system.
