A Fuel Cell Generation System with a New Active Clamp Sepic-Flyback Converter

  • A high efficiency active clamp sepic-flyback converter is presented for fuel cell generation systems. The proposed converter is a superposition of a sepic converter mode and. flyback converter mode. The output voltages of the sepic converter mode and flyback converter mode can be regulated by the same PWM technique with constant frequency. By merging the sepic and flyback topologies, they can share the transformer, power MOSFET and active clamp circuit. The result has outstanding advantages over conventional active clamp DC-DC converters: high efficiency, high power density, and component utilization. Simulation results and experimental results are presented to verify the principles of operation for the proposed converter.

  • A new SEPIC-Flyback converter is proposed. The proposed converter is the integration of SEPIC and Flyback converter. Not only SEPIC output but also Flyback output could be fully regulated by constant frequency PWM control. Merged SEPIC and Flyback topology can share the transformer and power MOSFET. When the switch turns on, one topology operates via capacitive energy transfer. The other topology acts as inductive energy transfer while the switch is off. So, it can increase power density per one cycle. The experimental result is presented and verified.

  • A new SEPIC-Flyback convater is proposed. The proposed converter is the superposition of SEPIC and Flyback converter. The operating principle of the proposed converter is described below. Prototype featuring 24V input 48V output, 100kHz switching frequency, and 100W output is simulated under the proposed topology.

  • In this paper, we proposed a design photovoltaic generation systems with SEPIC-Flyback converter. The SEPIC-Flyback converter is operated to SEPIC converter the state turn-on of the switch and the state turn-off the switch is operated Flyback converter. Therefore application rate of the core increases and voltage stress of switch and transformer decreases with active clamp operation. Also we performed MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control for efficient working of Photovoltaic Dower generation system.

  • 풍력, 태양광, 연료전지와 같은 신 재생 에너지에 관한 연구가 활발해 지면서 컨버터, 인버터와 같은 PCS (Power Conditioning System)의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그러나, 부하에 따라 가변되는 저전압, 대전류, 출력특성을 갖는 연료전지 발전 시스템에서는 PCS의 연구 및 개발이 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 연료전지를 이용한 발전시스템에 알맞은 능동 클램프 sepic-flyback 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 중간 탭 변압기를 이용하여 sepic, flyback 컨버터를 결합한 구조를 가진다. 변압기를 이용하는 종래의 토폴로지에 비해 변압기 이용률을 높일 수 있고, 변압기의 변환 비 및 파워 스위치 소자의 수를 줄일 수 있으며, 고효율 운전특성을 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 컨버터의 동작특성을 비교 분석하였으며, PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell)을 이용하여 제안된 컨버터의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, a new SEPIC-Flyback converter with a single transformer has been proposed, which is suitable for a fuel cell based power generation system. The proposed converter is superposition of sepic and flyback converter mode. It has outstanding high boosting output voltage, component utilization and high efficiency characteristics under the inherently severe low output voltage of the fuel cell generator. The proposed converter for a full cell generator is described and verified by simulation and experimental result that make used of the Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC) Generator.

  • In this paper, design and control of the novel SEPIC-Flyback converter(SF converter) is developed as a possible converter for fuel cell system. This output characteristic of SF converter is similar to Buck-Boost converter in that it can step-up or step-down the voltage. With the small signal equivalent circuit modeling of SF converter, control-to-output transfer function is obtained. SF converter couples up the inductive type converter to capacitive type converter with one transformer, which has less ripple current than its respective one does. To verify the validity of the proposed converter, 500W, 100kHz converter is designed and tested. ZVS switching and active clamping are also tested in practice.

  • 본 논문에서는 연료전지 발전시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템에서 DC-DC 컨버터는 인덕터 에너지 저장형인 Flyback 컨버터와 커패시터 에너지 저장형인 SEPIC 컨버터를 변압기를 이용하여 2차측 출력을 결합한 SEPIC-Flyback 컨버터로 스위치의 온 오프시 모두 승압이 가능하여 저전압/대전류의 특징을 갖는 연료전지 시스템에 적합하다. 이를 계통연계형 인버터 시스템에 적용하여 최적화된 연료전지 발전시스템을 제안하였다.

  • This paper addresses several issues concerning the analysis, design, modeling, simulation and development of single-phase, single-switch, power factor corrected AC-DC high frequency switching converter topologies with transformer isolation. A detailed analysis and design is presented for single-switch topologies, namely forward buck, flyback, Cuk, Sepic and Zeta buck-boost converters, with high frequency isolation for discontinuous conduction modes (DCM) of operation. With an awareness of modem design trends towards improved performance, these switching converters are designed for low power rating and low output voltage, typically 20.25W with 13.5V in DCM operation. Laboratory prototypes of the proposed single-switch converters in DCM operation are developed and test results are presented to validate the proposed design and developed model of the system.
