스프레이 PUF를 이용한 LNG 저장탱크 외조 벽체의 열적 안정성 강화 방법에 대한 고찰 (Review about Thermal Stability Reinforcing Method of the Concrete Sidewall of the LNG Storage Tank Using Sprayed PUF)

  • LNG 저장탱크는 초저온($-162^{\circ}C$)의 액화천연가스(LNG)를 저장하는 시설로서 안전성이 크게 요구되는 시설물이다. LNG를 저장하는 내조에 문제가 일어나 LNG 누출이 발생했을 경우를 대비하여 종래에는 LNG 저장탱크 외부에 방류둑을 설치하게 되어 있었다. 하지만 이는 부지 활용도를 떨어뜨리고 저장탱크 건설비를 증가시키는 등의 문제점이 있어 근래 들어 저장탱크 벽체를 초저온에 견딜 수 있는 구조로 바꾸는 완전방호식 저장탱크를 제작함으로서 방류둑 설치를 하지 않고 있다. 탱크 벽체를 초저온에 견딜 수 있는 구조로 만드는 방법은 크게 두 가지가 있다. 하나는 초저온에 견딜 수 있는 철근을사용하여 LNG 탱크 벽체 콘크리트를 제작하는 방법이며 다른 하나는 LNG 탱크 벽체 콘크리트 내부 표면에 초저온에 견딜 수 있는 스프레이 폴리우레탄 폼 등의 제품을 적용하여 내조로부터 LNG의 누출이 발생하여도 콘크리트 표면온도가 정해진 기간 동안 일정 온도 이하로 낮아지지 않도록 하는 방법이다. 최근 국내에 서 건설하는 모든 LNG 저장탱크는 경제적이고 적용방법이 간단한 스프레이 폼을 사용하여 LNG 저장탱크 벽체의 저온 안전성을 강화하고 있다.

혐기 소화 상징액과 가축 분뇨를 대상으로 한 아질산화 반응조 내 foaming 특성 (characteristic of foaming in nitritation reactor using anaerobic digester supernatant and livestock wastewater)

  • 고농도 질소를 함유하고 있는 하수는 하수처리장 처리 효율에 악영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 고농도 질소를 함유한 하수를 처리하기 위한 다양한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 대표적인 고농도 질소를 함유한 하수인 혐기 소화 상징액과 가축분뇨를 대상으로 유기물 분석, foaming 실험 및 실험실 규모 아질산화 반응조 운전을 실시하였다. 유기물 분석 결과 혐기 소화 상징액은 용존성 불활성한 성분, 가축분뇨는 입자성 생물학적 분해가능한 성분이 가장 큰 부분을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 아질산화 반응에 적합한 체류시간은 혐기소화 상징액 2일과 가축분뇨 6일이였으며, 이와 같은 적정 체류시간에 차이는 암모니아성 질소 농도 및 유기물 성상차이에 의한 것으로 보인다. 또한 가축 분뇨 반응조 foam은 혐기 소화 상징액 반응조 foam과 비교하여 발생량은 많지만 빠르게 제거되는 특성을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 아질산화 반응의 하수처리장 적용 시 기초 자료로 이용할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

  • Mycolic acid-containing actinomycetes associated with extensive foaming in the aeration basin of the activated sludge process were isolated and analyzed by phenotypical, chemotaxonomical and phylogenetic methods. Whole cell sugar patterns of two isolates were pattern A. The nearly complete sequences of the 16S rRNA genes (rDNAs) of the isolates were determined and compared by using several tree-making algorithms. With polyphasic methods, strain SCNU1 was identified as Gordona sputi, and strain SCNU5 assigned to the genus Tsukamurella. The presence of opportunistic pathogens of chronic lung infections within foams can cause public health problems and render waste-treatment processes inefficient.

Numerical Investigation of Anti-Diffusion Source Term for Free-Surface Wave Flow

  • Accurate simulation of free-surface wave flows around a ship is very important for better hull-form design. In this paper, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code which is based on the open source libraries, OpenFOAM, was developed to predict the wave patterns around a ship. Additional anti-diffusion source term for minimizing a numerical diffusion, which was caused by convection differencing scheme, was considered in the volume-fraction transport equation. The influence of the anti-diffusion source term was tested by applying it to free-surface wave flow around the Wigley and KCS model ships. In results, the wave patterns and hull wave profiles of the Wigley and KCS model ships for various anti-diffusion coefficients showed quite close patterns. While, the band width of the water volume-fraction values between 0.1 to 0.9 at the Wigley and KCS model hull surfaces was narrowed by considering the anti-diffusion term. From the results, anti-diffusion source term decreased free-surface smearing.

건축용 외장재와 접착제의 발연특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Smoke Release for Architectural Surface Materials and Architectural Adhesives)

  • In this study, we have investigated the maximum smoke density and the initial stage smoke density in order to see the characteristics of smoke release of the architectural surface materials and the architectural adhesives, using smoke density chamber. As a result of the study, polyurethane foam showed the highest smoke density index, 206.55 within 10 min. In the case of the other samples, reinforced styrofoam was followed as 39.90, general styrofoam 33.73, and glass fiber 5.40, respectively. In the intial stage of a fire, it is forecasted actually to give hardship at the clear visibility. In the case of architectural adhesives, the highest ranking was those for windows and doors 509.64, stone 275.63, wood 232.25, tile 18.65, and styrofoam 6.44 were followed, respectively. This result is an early research to show characteristics of smoke release through experiment. However, it is meaningful that this study can be used as a basic for further study on architectural fire hazard prediction.

  • The effect of $^{60}Co$ are discussed with regard to radiochemical destruction detergent. The study deals specifically with the effect gamma radiation from $^{60}Co$ source upon aquous solution of detergent. Test on biodegradation of A B S (solium alkyl benzene sulfonate) under the waste-water prior to the detergent conversion to biodegradable surfactants. The reason for removal of A B S was their extreme environmental stability and the associateo appearance of foam in waste water treatment plants. Although the A B S are considered biodegradable the time required for biodegradation in practical with the present environmental guidelines.

  • The characterstics of the soy protein curd(eczyme-, HCI- and Ca-surd) were shown by scanning electron micrographs and gel electrophoreis. The emulsion stability of enzyme-curd showed high value in the range of pH 2~10and wide range of temperature(20~8$0^{\circ}C$). While at the isoelectric point(pH5.0), the emulsion stability of the HCI-and Ca-curd was decreased remarkably, and the emulsion stability of temperature was reduced quickly to the 60% and 40% at the 4$0^{\circ}C$. The foam stability of enzyme-curd was slightly higher than that HCI-and CA-curd in all ranges of pH and temperature. The feature of SEM of enzyme-cured produced degradation products faster than that of the HCI- and Ca-curd.

Implementation of Low Loss Radome with Hexa mesh for Ku-Band

  • In this study, the insertion loss and phase delay according to the multi-layer structure radome parameters were analyzed using the boundary value solution approach, and the multi-layer structure and hexa mesh structures with low-loss electrical characteristics for the Ku-band transmission/reception frequency of 10.7 ~ 14.5 GHz were designed and manufactured. A hexa mesh was applied to minimize radio wave transmission and scattering, which lowered the transmittance refractive index according to the radio incident angle and minimized dielectric loss through high-density foam. Similar to the simulation result, the transmission loss obtained the gain in a specific receiving frequency band, and in the transmission frequency band, an excellent low loss characteristic was obtained with an insertion loss of 0.8dB or less. The results of this study can be used in radio transmission radomes of low-weight, low-cost end-system protection devices.

Interaction of turbulences with non-breaking divergent waves in an open channel

  • This paper presents a direct numerical simulation of turbulent flows over a bump in an open channel to examine the turbulence characteristics near divergent waves emanating from the bump and to investigate the interaction of the turbulences with the divergent waves. To verify the reliability of the simulations, the mean velocity profile and root-mean-square of velocity fluctuations are compared with previous data. The anisotropic invariant maps show that the ratio of the streamwise to spanwise velocity fluctuations plays an important role in characterizing the anisotropic nature of the separated shear layer behind the bump in the vicinity of the free surface. The vortex identification discloses a large-scale streamwise vortical structure from the mean velocity field and a cluster of small coherent structures from the instantaneous velocity field, which are responsible for the anisotropic characteristics of the turbulence beneath the free surface.
