유교 지식인 류성룡과 정치가 류성룡은 서로 분리될 수 없는 동전의 양면이다. 유교 지식인의 학문은 경국제세(經國濟世)의 실천을 지향하고, 역사의 선례와 현장에 대한 치밀한 연구는 정치가의 성패를 좌우한다. 류성룡이 위기에 처한 조선의 실질적인 구원자가 될 수 있었던 것도 그가 이론과 현장을 구분하지 않고 양자를 변증법적으로 종합했기 때문이다. 그러나 류성룡에 관한 기존의 연구들은 이러한 점들에 주목하지 않았다. 이 글에서는 먼저 류성룡이 주자 성리학에 안주하지 않고 양명학에 깊은 관심을 갖고 있었다는 점에서 출발하고자 한다. 그리고 이를 통해서 그가 정통 주자학자들과는 다른 실용주의적 경세관을 지니고 있었고, 그 결과 임진왜란이라는 사상 초유의 국란을 맞았을 때도 현실주의적 위기 대처 능력을 발휘할 수 있었다는 점을 강조하고자 한다. 요컨대 이 글은 학문과 실천의 균형을 추구한 류성룡의 삶을 실용주의와 현실주의라는 관점에서 재조명하고자 한다.

The use of pooled standard deviation can reduce the efficiency loss in optimum allocation when strata standard deviations are estimated and several of them are equal. Also shown is that the pooled standard deviation is useful in optimum allocation under a multivariate setting. In addition to theoretical development, we provide the result of simulation study to support the theory.

When the loss of samples appears under repeated surveys, new samples can often replace missing values. Estimators using response probability can be considered under repeated surveys on two occasions where new samples are selected instead of missing data on the second occasion. We propose a new estimator that uses both respondents and new samples on the second occasion. It is considered for the simulation setting that missing values can happen at the second occasion and are replaced by new samples. We can see that the proposed estimator is more efficient than that using a weighting adjustment method for respondents at the second occasion.

We study numerical methods to obtain the stationary probabilities of continuous-time Markov chains whose embedded chains are periodic. The power method is applied to the balance equations of the periodic embedded Markov chains. The power method can have the convergence speed of exponential rate that is ambiguous in its application to original continuous-time Markov chains since the embedded chains are discrete-time processes. An illustrative example is presented to investigate the numerical iteration of this paper. A numerical study shows that a rapid and stable solution for stationary probabilities can be achieved regardless of periodicity and initial conditions.

이 논문에서는 고장감지장치(FDE)가 시스템 가용도에 미치는 영향을 연구한다. 주시스템(MS) 수리 도중에 고장이 발생한 FDE를 수리하기 위한 새로운 수리 정책을 고려한다. 이 논문의 주요 목적은 MS의 가용도를 계산하고 비교하는 데에 있다.

표본조사에서 무응답이 발생한 개체에 대해 재조사 실시한 후 보조변수를 사용한 회귀추정의 형태를 가지는 추정량을 제시하고 복제치 기법을 이용한 분산추정량을 연구한다. 또한 응답여부에 따른 응답확률의 모수적 추론방법도 함께 제시한다. 재조사 후 모평균에 대하여 불편성을 만족하고 효율이 좋은 추정량과 일치성을 가지는 분산추정량을 이론적으로 연구하고 모의실험을 통하여 연구의 타당성을 입증한다.

이 논문에서는 서로 다른 서버배정방식을 가지는 멀티클래스 손실시스템을 연구한다. 마코프 성질을 유지하도록 상태를 정의하고 상태를 효율적으로 표현하는 방법을 살펴본다. 시스템 성능척도를 산출하기 위하여 마코프 성질에 기초한 극한확률 유도를 연구한다. 해석해 혹은 수치해를 구하여 배정방식이 시스템 성능에 미치는 영향을 비교한다.

The total system is composed of the main system (MS) and the failure detection equipment (FDE) which detects failures of MS. The analysis of system reliability is performed when the failure of FDE is possible. Several repair policies are considered to determine the order of repair of failed systems, which are sequential repair (SQ), priority repair (PR), independent repair (ID), and simultaneous repair (SM). The states of MS-FDE systems are represented by Markov models according to repair policies and the main purpose of this paper is to derive the system availabilities of the Markov models. Analytical solutions of the stationary equations are derived for the Markov models and the system availabilities are immediately determined using the stationary solutions. A simple illustrative example is discussed for the comparison of availability values of the repair policies considered in this paper.
