  • objective to ascertain whether the concept of the therapeutic side is associated with changes in the blind sport mapping that represents the brain function. design Physiological blind spot maps were used as an integer of brain activity before and after acupuncture needling on the meridian point Hapkok(合谷) and Techung(太衝) in the unilateral side decided by double-blind controlled study(20 subjects). setting outpatient clinic participants: adult volunteers intervention twenty subjects were divided into two comparative groups and underwent specific acupuncture therapy on the unilateral side. Blinded examiners obtained reproducible pre and post-acupuncture cortical maps, which were subjected to statistical analysis. main outcome measures Brain activity was demonstrated by reproducible circumferential measurements of cortical hemispheric blind spot maps before and after acupuncture on the unilateral side. in case of acupuncture needling on the ipsilateral side of an enlarged side of bilnd spot, there were reduction of blind spot in 7 cases of 10 subjects, and enlargement in 3 cases. in case of acupuncture needling on the contralateral side of the enlarged side of blind spot, there were enlargement of blind spot in 6 cases of 10 subjects, and reduction in 4 cases. results the significant changes in the blind spots before and after acupuncture were observed Acupuncture needlings on the ipsilateral or contralateral side of an enlarged cortical map were associated with the concept of the therapeutic side traditionally accepted in the oriental medical society. Acupuncture needling on the ipsilateral side of an enlarged blind spot map is associated with the reduction of map, and increaed contralateral cortical activity. Acupuncture needling on the side opposite an enlarged blind spot map is associated with the enlargement of map, and decreased cortical activity. conclusion Reproducible maps of cortical responses can be used to measure the neurological consequences of acupuncture needling. Acupuncture can affect the somatic sensory informations that reach to the contralateral thalamus, and so affect thalamic integration. we found that acupuncture therapy may be associated with an increase or a decrease in brain function depending on the side of acupuncture needling. thus, the traditional concept of the contralateral therapeutic theory in acupuncture approach has the clinical significance in the view of brain function.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the vest patterns with better fitness, function and beauty best suited to the bodies because the previous studies on the vest pattern are not enough to be usable for its making and wearing including the emperiment and practice as well as its direct design and cutting although its wearing range has been widely popular. This study was carried out by making the experimental vest and performing its wearing experiment. The result of this study is summarized as follows. 1. The sensory evaluation on apperance showed that the wholoe average of pattern 4 was the highest for all S, M, L bodies. In addition, it was shown by the bodies that the most suitable related patterns included pattern 4-M body, pattern 2-S body and pattern 4-L body. However, the L body indicated the lowest score in all patterns. Then, this fact means that the diversified studies must be carried out on the vest patterns for the bodies. 2. The results on the function of vertical motions indicated that when the motion angle increased the lifting volume of the vertical motion also increased proportionally, and that the motion at $135^{\circ}$ among these verical motions showed the highest score. Therefore, it is required to consider this fact when determining the vest length in the process of making the vest pattern. 3. The results on the twisted degree of a posture showed that as to the experimental results on these vertical motions the twisted degree increased with the increase of angle. This fact seems to be also important in deforming the vest length when making the vest.

  • Changes in pH and acidity were investigated in kimchi containing different amounts of added onion and/or pear during fermentation at $10^{\circ}C$. As the fermentation period increase, the pH and sugar contents of the onion and/or pear kimchi were higher compared to the control kimchi. However, the acidity of the kimchi containing onion and/or pear was lower than that of the control. To enhance the acceptance of kimchi, the optimal conditions for the addition of onion and pear were evaluated with the central composite design, ANOVA, and response surface methodology. According to variations in the mixing ratio of onion and pear, smell, taste and overall acceptability differed significantly, but the appearance and texture were not different. The optimal levels of onion and pear, predicted on the basis of each corresponding sensory parameters for kimchi, were $4.55{\sim}5.00%$ and $0{\sim}0.30%$ for smell, 2.61% and 2.38% for taste and 2.78% and 2.57% for overall acceptability, respectively.

  • This Shanghai region study is a sample survey of female college students in their early 20s. This study collected and analyzed the information of shapes through a direct contact survey to understand the breast figures and the measurements of bodies to provide basic information to improve brassiere production for adult females in China. Data was analyzed through a SAS 9.0. The characteristic of the final brassiere pattern that had been corrected and complemented from the results of the $l^{st},\;2^{nd},\;3^{rd}$, and $4^{th}$ fitting tests is defined as a brassiere inserted with a round wire that has the 3/4cup to wrap the bust area by about 3/4. It consists of an upper and lower nonwoven fabric cup that has a flat-shaped wing of a circular dart. The drawing method of the pattern of this brassiere is applied with the conditions to cover the body naturally under the diverse and organic relations of the material factor of stretch material and wire, functional factor, and sewing factor. The final pattern is created as a bigger angle of wing pattern and a short inner side diameter because there are more Chinese women with a back of bending figure compared to Korean women.

  • This study clarifies that Scytian waistband had flowed into the Jeoseon Dynasty, and it was settled down to saezodae(which is male belt) and norigae(which is female accessory) and pocket in the Joseon Dynasty. Historical records and relic materials are examined and analyzed by quality assessment. 5 experts performs sensory evaluation for 17 pictures of Scytian waistband, and 42 of norigae, 24 of pocket, 6 of small knife, 11 of belt in the Joseon Dynasty, and finally similarity in form and purpose of use between both of them are come out. Research results are summarized as follows: First, Scytian waistband made with leather and metal was carried in the girdle. Men in the Joseon Dynasty carried various forms of belts as position and jobs such as saezodae, kwangdahae, dongdahae, doa. Trinkets of hopae, jangdo, pocket, etc. are put on belt or separately attached. Belt was not put on the women dress, but more various trinkets were used than those on men dress. Norigae, pocket, and jangdo were used practically and decoratively. Second, The types of Scytian waistband were excavated from the tumulus in the age of three states in Korea, and their form and function are same. Belt of the Joseon Dynasty carried below their chest and up navel, of which the wearing position went upper than before. As women jeogori was shorter, their belt is not necessary and various trinkets were put in their skirt. Finally, this study conclude that Korean traditional belt and trinkets come down from Scythian waistband.

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: Several studies have reported that consumption of Salvia Hispanica L.,commonly known as chia seed, may exert beneficial effects on health outcomes. The main purpose of this study was to examine the influence of chia seed consumption as a mid-morning snack on short-term satiety. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Subjects (n = 24) were tested using a randomized, cross-over design consisting of three mid-morning snacks. Yogurt with no chia seed, yogurt with 7 g chia seed, and yogurt with 14 g chia seed were given to subjects on different test days. After subjects were asked to report visual analog scale (VAS) scores on sensory outcomes, ad libitum lunch was served, and energy intake of individuals was measured. RESULTS: VAS scores indicated that participants reported significantly lower scores for hunger (P = 0.033), prospective food consumption (P = 0.031), amounts of food that could be consumed (P = 0.017), desire for sugary foods (P = 0.015), and higher scores for satiety (P = 0.031) on the test days with 7 g and 14 g chia seed. Energy intake of individuals during ad libitum lunch was significantly lower when they consumed yogurt with 7 g or 14 g chia seed (P = 0.037). CONCLUSIONS: The study demonstrated that chia seed consumption as a mid-morning snack may induce short-term satiety in healthy individuals.

  • Virtual reality(VR) is known as immersive multimedia or computer-simulated reality, is a computer technology that replicates an environment, real or imagined, and simulates a user's physical presence and environment to allow for user interaction. Virtual realities artificially create sensory experience including sight, touch, hearing, and smell. Owing to the use of a single device in most VR contents, user have difficulty in manipulating user interface and game object. And also immersion of the game goes down because they can't see the mouse and keyboard in virtual space. In this paper, we design and implement the chess game to easily and accurately control user interface to improve the immersion in game.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the pattern of bodysuit and to identify the wear fitness of it The methods of statistical analysis applied to the study were ANOVA and cluster analysis. The materials used in making bodysuit were Nylon/Polyurethane, lace, power net, binding tape, and hook eye. The try-on test was administered in two aspects ; (1) the comparison of anthropometric data before and after trying on the experimentally constructed bodysuit with those of marketing bodysuit, (2) the sensory evaluation to estimate the wear fitness in terms of appearance and motion function. The conclusions obtained are as follows ; 1. In the survey of wearing state, 52.2% of respondents had experience of wearing bodysuit. 60.6% of them responded to the item, “well-balanced body” in the question about the purpose of wearing it. 55.7% considered the item, “feel choky in the chest” as uncomfortable point in putting on bodysuit. 48.3% felt the portion of crotch drawn above in taking exercise or behaving routinely in everyday life. 2. As for the characteristics of the bodysuit design, the scooped neckline and horizontal outline without wire in lower bust was used, the adjust point being located right above the perineum point, and the length of bodysuit is as far as trochanteric point. 3. In comparing anthropometric data of the subjects, there was significant difference in the height of lower bust the distance around abdomen, and the length of bust point(right, left) between the experimentally constructed bodysuit and the marketing bodysuit. 4. Concerning the results of the try-on test in appearance, the estimates of expert panel, which were in agreement with those of subjects in mean value and composite reliability coefficient, showed that the pattern fitness of experimentally designed bodysuit was higher than that of marketing bodysuit. 5. To take try-on test in motion function, motion was classified the five steps. The results of the test showed that experimentally designed bodysuit was fitter in each steps of motion than marketing bodysuit.

  • The purpose of this study is to produce slacks pattern for pregnant women in the mid or second half period of their pregnancy according to the development figure of the body shell from a follow-up measurement. We here would like to produce slacks pattern for pregnant women constructed to fit better with their individual property in their figure and to help maintain the shape and beauty of the lower half of body and would compare it with two manufactured slacks pattern. The results of the study were as follows; 1. As the pregnancy proceeds, the height of natural-waist line went up spontaneously due to the projection of abdominal region, therefore, it was given darts at the front zipper part so that they could maintain a nice figure and to avoid possibility of feeling oppressed. To acquire a slimmer outfit, we made of the slacks-bottom narrower than the width at the knee line, and it worked out. 2. Sensory evaluation for appearance: According to the statistical of the result of 19items on the questionaire, all items showed significant difference(a$\leq$0.01) between the new and A(bunka) B(Kim's pattern) method slacks pattern, with the new pattern having higher scores. The new drafting method proved to be better fitted, to fit the shape of bodies properly and to get a visual effect to look slim.
