A Real-Time Localization Platform Design in WUSB Services based on IEEE 802.15.6 WBAN Protocol for Wearable Computer Systems (IEEE 802.15.6 표준 기반 무선 USB 서비스를 위한 실시간 위치인식 플랫폼 설계)

  • In this Paper, we propose a Real-Time Localization Platform Built on WUSB (Wireless USB) over WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) protocol required for Wearable Computer systems. Proposed Real-Time Localization Platform Technique is executed on the basis of WUSB over WBAN protocol at each sensor node comprising peripherals of a wearable computer system. In the Platform, a WUSB host calculates the location of a receiving sensor node by using the difference between the times at which the sensor node received different WBAN beacon frames sent from the WUSB host. And the WUSB host interprets motion of the virtual object.

  • The domestic and overseas IoT (Internet of Things)-based automation industry is developing remarkably, and the development of this automation technology is further accelerated by the development of sensor technology. In recent years, the smart farm industry for the purpose of growing crops based on various sensor technologies is rapidly developing. In the case of smart farms, real-time monitoring and mobile services are provided by measuring representative environmental data such as temperature, humidity, and CO2 required for crop cultivation. Most of these environmental monitoring and control operations use the RS-485-based Modbus (RTU) communication method. In this paper, we intend to test the performance of sensor data and actuator information required for smart farm construction by building a platform for controlling sensor data and actuators based on LabView using MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport), an IoT standard protocol.

  • The way to develop an IoT device is to mount the sensor required by the application on a platform such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi, and write the sensor driver and application. At this time, if the driving driver for the sensor has already been written and the application can access the driver as a standardized API, then Plug&Play of the sensor will be possible. The old way to do this is because the sensor interface is too complicated to use on the current platform. In this paper, when a standardized sensor and driver with a USB terminal are plugged into the Raspberry Pi, we propose a method for automatically installing the driver. Application developers can get sensor values through Linux's file access API without worrying about sensor drivers. The proposed technique is currently being implemented on Raspberry-Pi.

  • In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is configured for the robot to effectively communicate with the environment platform where sensor nodes are implemented using high performance microcontrollers. The localization and the navigation functions are also required to the robot which performs the given task using various types of sensor information. A new type of ZigBee stack is developed using the RUM(Router Under MAC) of the Atmel Corp. and it is applied to a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller for the high performance sensor data manipulation and transmission. It is verified by experiments that the wireless sensor network consisting of developed high performance sensor nodes can be effectively used for the robot environment platform.

  • In this paper, we propose a system for controlling the seat of the electric wheelchair depending on the slope of the terrain in real time by using the ATmega smart control based on the board. Smart control board includes a gyro sensor, an acceleration sensor and Tilt sensor, when the electric wheelchairs pass slope of the terrain, they use three sensors to identify terrain configuration in real time. We also applied the Complementary Filter in the gyro sensor and acceleration sensor, so the electric wheelchairs know the exact terrain by solving the interference during the movement. Based on this, the noise power wheelchair due to the movement will be reduced, the seat continues reliably movement without being vibration. In this paper, providing an application on the smart phone platform for the convenience of users who are not familiar with how to use electric wheelchairs, they can easily control wheelchairs. Control platform of the smart phone is able to monitor the electric wheelchair in real-time, with regard to pressure prevention, help the slope of the seat to be arbitrarily controlled.

  • In this paper, solar-powered, multi-scale, vibration-impedance sensor node on Imote2 platform is presented for hybrid structural health monitoring (SHM) in cable-stayed bridge. In order to achieve the objective, the following approaches are proposed. Firstly, vibration- and impedance-based hybrid SHM methods are briefly described. Secondly, the multi-scale vibration and impedance sensor node on Imote2-platform is presented on the design of hardware components and embedded software for vibration- and impedance-based SHM. In this approach, a solar-powered energy harvesting is implemented for autonomous operation of the smart sensor nodes. Finally, the feasibility and practicality of the smart sensor-based SHM system is evaluated on a full-scale cable-stayed bridge, Hwamyung Bridge in Korea. Successful level of wireless communication and solar-power supply for smart sensor nodes are verified. Also, vibration and impedance responses measured from the target bridge which experiences various weather conditions are examined for the robust long-term monitoring capability of the smart sensor system.

  • In this paper, we describe photonic sensor interface and driver program based on SOPC(System on a programmable chip) platform. This platform uses device that has ARM922T processor and APEX FPGA area on a chip. As for driver program development, three different methods are tried such as simple firmware, real-time OS based program and embedded Linux based program, and results are compared for SoC implementation.

  • The era of IoT in which all objects are intelligent and are connected to the Internet has been started. In order to establish and activate an IoT eco system, open services platform is very important. In this paper, we developed a BLE sensor module as a component of the open service platform based on the IoT and the open source hardware Blutooth4.0. To verify the functionality and performance of the developed BLE sensor module was built to evaluate the performance of the test environment.

  • There are many researches to build up ubiquitous environment by the Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN). These applications, such as home network, health care, natural environment and agricultural areas, are implemented by an embedded system. Their fields are gradually spreading. However the power consumption in its implementation plays an important role on the surrounding environment of the wireless network. In this paper, we design low power processor based sensor node platform for agricultural applications. We also compare its some performance with existing products.
