그레디언트 및 분산을 이용한 웨이블릿 기반의 광학 및 레이더 영상 융합 (Wavelet-based Fusion of Optical and Radar Image using Gradient and Variance)

  • 본 연구에서는 주파수 및 공간 도메인 상에서 선호 분석에 장점이 있는 웨이블릿 기반의 영상 융합 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 개발된 알고리듬은 레이더 영상 신호와 광학 영상 신호의 상대적인 크기를 비교하여 상대적으로 신호 크기가 큰 경우에는 레이더 영상 신호를 융합 영상에 할당하고 크기가 작은 경우에는 레이더 영상 신호와 광학 영상 선호의 가중치 합으로 융합 영상 신호를 결정한다. 사용되는 융합 규칙은 두 영상 신호의 상대적인 신호 비(ratio) 영상 그레디언트, 로컬 영역의 분산 특성을 동시에 고려한다. Ikonos 위성 영상과 TerraSAR-X 위성 영상을 이용한 실험에서 상대적으로 신호 크기가 큰 레이더 신호 만을 융합 영상에 할당하는 기존 방법에 비해 entropy, image clarity, spatial frequency, speckle index 측면에서 우수한 융합 결과를 얻었다.

Federated Information Mode-Matched Filters in ACC Environment

  • In this paper, a target tracking algorithm for tracking maneuvering vehicles is presented. The overall algorithm belongs to the category of an interacting multiple-model (IMM) algorithm used to detect multiple targets using fused information from multiple sensors. First, two kinematic models are derived: a constant velocity model for linear motions, and a constant-speed turn model for curvilinear motions. Fpr the constant-speed turn model, a nonlinear information filter is used in place of the extended Kalman filter. Being equivalent to the Kalman filter (KF) algebraically, the information filter is extended to N-sensor distributed dynamic systems. The model-matched filter used in multi-sensor environments takes the form of a federated nonlinear information filter. In multi-sensor environments, the information-based filter is easier to decentralize, initialize, and fuse than a KF-based filter. In this paper, the structural features and information sharing principle of the federated information filter are discussed. The performance of the suggested algorithm using a Monte Carlo simulation under the two patterns is evaluated.

Intelligent robotic walker with actively controlled human interaction

  • In this study, we developed a robotic walker that actively controls its speed and direction of movement according to the user's gait intention. Sensor fusion between a low-cost light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor and inertia measurement units (IMUs) helps determine the user's gait intention. The LiDAR determines the walking direction by detecting both knees, and the IMUs attached on each foot obtain the angular rate of the gait. The user's gait intention is given as the directional angle and the speed of movement. The two motors in the robotic walker are controlled with these two variables, which represent the user's gait intention. The estimated direction angle is verified by comparison with a Kinect sensor that detects the centroid trajectory of both the user's feet. We validated the robotic walker with an experiment by controlling it using the estimated gait intention.

  • Micronization of sensor is a trend of the silicon sensor development with regard to a piezoresistive silicon pressure sensor, the size of the pressure sensor diaphragm have become smaller year by year, and a microaccelerometer with a size less than $200{\sim}300{\mu}m$ has been realized, In this paper, we study some of the bonding processes of SCS(single crystal silicon) insulator wafer for the microaccelerometer. and their subsequent processes which might affect thermal loads. The finite element method(FEM) has been a standard numerical modeling technique extensively utilized in micro structural engineering discipline for design of SCS insulator wafers. Successful temperature distribution analysis and design of the SCS insulator wafers based on the tunneling current concept using microaccelerometer depend on the knowledge about normal mechanical properties of the SCS and $SiO_2$ layer and their control through manufacturing processes.

  • This paper describes a method to classify simple circular artificial markers on surfaces of a box on the back of hand to detect the pose of user's hand for VR/AR applications by using a Leap Motion camera and two IMU sensors. One IMU sensor is located in the box and the other IMU sensor is fixed with the camera. Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) algorithm is adopted to classify artificial markers on each surface tracked by the camera using IMU sensor data. It is experimented successfully in real-time, 70Hz, under PC environments.

  • This paper represents a map building system of Embedded Linux mobile robot. We propose a localization method which uses multiple sensors such as indoor GPS and encoder sensor for simultaneous map building system. In this paper we proposed a multiple sensor system for SLAM. For this, we developed a sensor based navigation algorithm and grid based map building algorithm under the Embedded Linux O.S. We proved this system's validity through field test

  • Conventionally, CCD camera and vision sensor using the projected pattern of light is generally used to inspect the weld bead defects. But with this method, a lot of time is needed for image preprocessing, stripe extraction and thinning, etc. In this study, laser vision sensor using the scanning beam of light is used to shorten the time required for image preprocessing. The software for deciding whether the weld bead is in proper shape or not in real time is developed. The criteria are based upon the classification of imperfections in metallic fusion welds(ISO 6520) and limits for imperfections(ISO 5817).

  • There are two main streams for pattern classification technology One is the method using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and the other is the method using Neural network. Both of them have merits and demerits. In general, using PCA is so simple while using neural network can improve algorithm continually. Algorithm using neural network needs so many calculations rendering very slow response. In this work, an attempt is made to develop algorithms adopting both PCA and neural network merits for simpler, but faster and smarter.

  • In this paper, we have development of horizontal attitude monitoring system for agricultural robots. A two-axis gyro sensor and a two-axis accelerometer sensor are used to measure the horizontal attitude angle. The roll angle and pitch angle were measured through the fusion of the gyro sensor signal and the acceleration sensor signal for the horizontal attitude monitoring of the robot. This attitude monitoring system includes GPS and Bluetooth communication module for remote monitoring. The roll angle and pitch angle can be measured by the error of less than 1 degree and the linearity and the reproducibility of the output signal are excellent.

  • This study comprehensively reviewed four types of integrated-optic electric-field sensors based on titanium diffused lithium-niobate waveguides: symmetric and asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometers, 1×2 directional couplers, and Y-fed balanced-bridge Mach-Zehnder interferometers. First, we briefly explain the crystal properties and electro-optic effect of lithium niobate and the waveguide fabrication process. We theoretically analyzed the key parameters and operating principles of each sensor and antennas. We also describe and compare the design, simulation, implementation, and performance tests: dc and ac characteristics, frequency response, dynamic range, and sensitivity. The experimental results revealed that the sensitivity of the sensor based on the Y-fed balanced bridge Mach-Zehnder interferometer (YBB-MZI) was higher than that of the other types of sensors.
