The impact of outdoor environment on residential noise level satisfaction: GIS-based Analysis

  • Urban residents in crowded complexes are making increasing civil complaints about noise and demanding pleasant and comfortable residential environments. Because noise is one of the most important factors related to urban residents' dissatisfaction with their living environments, the present study investigates the direct and indirect effects of noise-related outdoor environmental factors on residential level satisfaction, using noise level data from 29 noise-measuring stations in Seoul. From 62 multi-family apartment complexes near these stations, the authors collected GIS-based environmental attribute data, as well as survey data including the residents' personal characteristics and indicators designed to measure latent psychological characteristics: noise sensitivity and residential noise level satisfaction. This study then utilized structural equation models to analyze the direct variables influencing the latent variables of noise sensitivity and residential noise level satisfaction, as well as the complex relationships among all variables. The result showed that residents who are exposed to less noise, possibly due to living in apartments facing relatively quiet roads, protected by soundproof walls, or surrounded by densely planted trees, tend to be less noise sensitive, which makes them more satisfied with the ambient noise level. Therefore, critical outdoor environmental variables can be used to reduce noise sensitivity and improve residential noise level satisfaction.

  • An application of the perturbation method to optimum structural design with random parameters is presented. It is formulated on the basis of the first-order stochastic finite element perturbation method. It also takes into full account the stress, displacement and eigenvalue constraints, together with the rates of change of the random variables. A method for calculating the sensitivity coefficients in regard to the governing equation and the first-order perturbed equation has been derived, by using a direct differentiation approach. A gradient-based nonlinear programming technique is used to solve the problem. The numerical results are specifically noted, where the stiffness parameter and external load are treated as random variables.

  • The objectives of the present paper were to investigate the concentration of total coliform in wastewater effluents and the effect of water chemical and physical characters in it. The most correlated parameter with total coliform was COD. It means that the wastewater treatment efficient effects on total coliform concentration. And we developed predictive model for the total coliform concentration. The estimated parameters for model were COD, temperature, nitrite, chloride, Mn and regression model equation was determined; log (Total Coli.) = 1.861+0.065[COD]+0.038[temperature]-0.0004[$Cl^-$]+3.697[Mn]-0.32 [$NO_2-N$] The developed model provided very strong correlation ($R^2:0.82$) between total coliform and regression equation. The parameters having high sensitivity were COD and temperature. So the study indicated that if the temperature and COD of wastewater effluent were known, we would estimate the concentration of total coliform and decide the most effective usage of chlorine.

  • The analysis of relative pose(position and rotation) between stereo cameras is very important to determine the solution that provides three-dimensional information for an arbitrary moving target with respect to robot-end. In the space of free camera-model, the rotational parameters act on non-linear factors acquiring a kinematical solution. In this paper the general solution of active stereo that gives a three-dimensional pose of moving object is presented. The focus is to achieve a derivation of linear equation between a robot′s end and active stereo cameras. The equation is consistently derived from the vector of quaternion space. The calibration of cameras is also derived in this space. Computer simulation and the results of error-sensitivity demonstrate the successful operation of the solution. The suggested solution can also be applied to the more complex real time tracking and quite general and are applicable in various stereo fields.

  • 초음속 흡입구의 충격파 안정성과 높은 압축효율을 획득하기 위한 버즈여유 결정기법을 제안하였다. 충격파 평형 방정식을 이용하여 자유흐름 및 배압에 의한 종말 충격파 위치의 민감도를 유도하였고, 외란의 크기를 통계적 방법에 의해 정량화 하였다. 수치적 계산결과 종말 충격파의 운동은 마하수에 비례하는 민감도 특성을 보였고, 후단 배압에 의한 그 영향이 가능 큰 것으로 나타났다.

아동의 학대 경험과 정서조절의 관계: 거부민감성의 매개효과 (The Relationship between Child Abuse and Emotional Regulation: Mediating Effect of Rejection Sensitivity)

  • 최근 아동학대 사건이 증가하고 있으며, 이에 대한 사회적 관심이 높아지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 아동의 학대 경험과 거부민감성 및 정서조절의 관계를 살펴보고, 아동의 학대 경험과 정서조절의 관계를 거부민감성이 매개하는지 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위하여 서울 경기, 강원, 충청, 경상지역 지역아동 보호기관에 아동학대로 신고 접수 되었거나 학대의심사례로 관리되고 있는 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 아동 217명을 대상으로 아동학대, 거부민감성, 정서조절에 대한 설문을 실시한 후 구조모형 검증과 부트스트랩을 통해 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 연구결과 첫째, 아동의 학대 경험은 정서조절과 유의미한 부적상관이, 거부민감성과는 유의미한 정적상관이 있었다. 정서조절은 거부민감성과 유의미한 부적상관이 있었다. 둘째, 거부민감성은 아동의 학대 경험과 정서조절을 완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 아동의 학대 경험이 거부민감성을 매개로 정서조절에 간접적으로 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서 학대경험으로 인해 정서조절의 어려움을 겪는 아동을 상담할 때, 상담자는 이들의 거부민감성을 낮추는 상담개입전략을 구사할 필요가 있다.

  • In this paper, the design sensitivity formula for the control of the transient temperature distribution is developed using the direct differentiation method, and used for the optimal design of induction heating coil position. The temperature distribution is calculated using the heat source of the induced eddy current and heat diffusion equation. The physical property variations of the workpiece depending on the temperature are considered. The eddy current distribution and the temperature distribution are calculated with the 2D finite element procedure. The adjoint variable technique is employed in expressing the design sensitivity. The goal of the design is to have the desired distribution of the temperature on a specific region of the sensitivity. Dynamic Analysis and Design of Uncertain Systems Against Random Excitation Using probabilistic Method

  • In this paper, a method to obtain the sensitivity of eigenvalues and the random responses of the structure with uncertain parameters is proposed. The concept of the proposed method is that the perturbed equation of each uncertain substructure is obtained using the finite element method, and the perturbed equation of the overall structure is obtained using the mode synthesis method. By this way, the reduced order perturbed equation of the uncertain system can be obtained. And the response of the uncertain system is obtained using probability method. As a numerical example, a simple piping system is considered as an example structure. The damping and spring constants of the support are considered as the uncertain parameters. Then the variations of the eigenvalues, the correlation function and the power spectral density function of the responses are calculated. As a result, the proposed method is considered to be useful technique to analyze the sensitivities of eigenvalues and random response against random excitation in terms of the accuracy and the calculation time.
