  • In this note, we extend the Bresar and Vukman's result [1, Proposition 1.6], which is well-known, to higher left derivations as follows: let R be a ring. (i) Under a certain condition, the existence of a nonzero higher left derivation implies that R is commutative. (ii) if R is semiprime, every higher left derivation on R is a higher derivation which maps R into its center.

  • Let R be a prime ring, I a nonzero ideal of R, d a derivation of R and n a fixed positive integer. (i) If (d(x)y+xd(y)+d(y)x+$yd(x))^n$ = xy + yx for all x, y $\in$ I, then R is commutative. (ii) If char R $\neq$ = 2 and (d(x)y + xd(y) + d(y)x + $yd(x))^n$ - (xy + yx) is central for all x, y $\in$ I, then R is commutative. We also examine the case where R is a semiprime ring.

  • Let R be a prime ring, I a nonzero ideal of R and n a fixed positive integer. If R admits a generalized derivation F associated with a derivation d such that c for all x, $y{\in}I$. Then either R is commutative or n = 1, d = 0 and F is the identity map on R. Moreover in case R is a semiprime ring and $(F([x,\;y]))^n=[x,\;y]$ for all x, $y{\in}R$, then either R is commutative or n = 1, $d(R){\subseteq}Z(R)$, R contains a non-zero central ideal and for all $x{\in}R$.

  • The objective of this research paper is to prove that an additive mapping T from a semiprime ring R to itself will be centralizer having a suitable torsion restriction on R if it satisfy any one of the following algebraic equations (a) 2T(xnynxn) = T(xn)ynxn + xnynT(xn) (b) 3T(xnynxn) = T(xn)ynxn+xnT(yn)xn+xnynT(xn) for every x, y ∈ R. Further, few extensions of these results are also presented in the framework of *-ring.

  • In this note we introduce the concept of a lower radical for ${\Gamma}$-rings. As an application we also characterise the prime radical introduced by Barnes [1] as a lower radical. Furthermore it is shown that the prime radical can also be determined by the class of all semiprime ${\Gamma}$-rings.
