  • Lecturers' self-efficacy in teaching influences many different factors, including their instructional patterns, performance expectation level from learners, quality of learning environment, and interpersonal relationships within the community. The present study attempted to explore perspectives of college lecturers regarding this topic in order to draw meaningful conclusions and implications. To this end, four college instructors from two different higher education institutions participated in an online questionnaire. The results showed that positive attitudes and active responses of learners, and a high degree of freedom to prepare lectures tend to improve their quality of self-efficacy in teaching. On the other hand, classes that are either too easy to hard, inactiveness among learners, and heavy workload other than teaching can worsen teaching efficacy. Lastly, the participant lecturers believed that their self-efficacy are would foster if they are allowed to choose courses they wish to teach, observe a more experienced instructor's lectures, and teach smaller size classes. Findings are likely to contribute to enhanced understanding of features that are likely to affect quality of self-efficacy in teaching among college lecturers.

It also looks into the needs of dance majors, and in order to understand the accomplishment in dance and performance satisfaction, studies were carried out on 313 dance major students. According to this research, firstly, in the difference from physical self-perception according to general characteristics, specialists that major in dance have perception about one's body when specialists have a longer dancing time and experience. In the relationship between dancing experience and self-efficacy it could be seen that self-efficacy is postirely comelated with dancing experience. Also, in dance performance satisfaction, the more experience or time one encounters dance the higher the satisfaction. Secondly, when looking at the effect physical self-perception has on performance, confidence and self-efficacy, among the lower factors of physical self-perception, sports competence, condition and fitness have notable amount of effect on performance confidence. Thirdly, when looking at the effect on physical self-perception and self-efficacy, sports competence and condition have a certain amount of influence on body competence. Also sports competence, condition and fitness have some influence on physical confidence. Fourth, when looking at the influence of performance confidence and self-efficacy on dance flow, performance confidence, body competence and physical attraction have some effect on behavioral devotion. Lastry looking at the influence dance flow has on dance performance satisfaction, only behavioral devotion has much influence on dance performance satisfaction.

  • This study examined the effect of group counseling on the self-esteem, self-efficacy, and congruent communication style of female victims of family violence. A twice-weekly group counseling consisting of 10 sessions was provided to 5 women residing in shelters in Seoul, South Korea from October $19^{th}$ to November $20^{th}$ 2009. This study employed the self-esteem scale developed by Rosenberg(1965) and translated into Korean by Jeon Byoung Jae(1974), a self-efficacy measurement tool(Kim A Young,1997) and a congruency scale(Go Moon Jeong, 2008). The Wilcoxon non-parametric verification was used to identify the differences between before and after the group counseling sessions. The results revealed meaningful improvements in self-esteem, self-efficacy and congruent communication styles.

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the effects of self-care behavior, self-efficacy and family support on the occurrence of peritonitis in patients on CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis). Methods: Data were collected from 81 patients on CAPD either as out-patients or in-patients between July and September 2004. Data were analyzed to identify relevant frequencies, percentages, averages, and standard deviations, and t-test and logistic regression were done using SPSS WIN 10.0 Results: a) Mean score for self-care behavior was 2.9 (of a possible 4.0), for general self-efficacy, 3.2 (of a possible 5.0), for specific self-efficacy 3.5 (of a possible 5), and for family support, 3.7 (of a possible 5). Family support generally showed the most positive results. b) Occurrence of peritonitis was not affected by general characteristics. c) There was a significant difference in the occurrence of peritonitis in terms of self-efficacy. Patients with peritonitis had lower self-efficacy than those who did not. 4) Of the four factors reviewed in relation to peritonitis, only self-efficacy was statistically significant: an increase in self- efficacy by 1 point increased the occurrence of peritonitis by 0.90. Conclusion: Among the four factors potentially affecting peritonitis in CAPD patients, general self-efficacy was found to be the main factor influencing the occurrence of peritonitis.

  • Essential hypertension, one of the leading primary cause of death in Korea, is a typical chronic disease requiring adequate and continuous management. Though these hypertensives need to maintain desirable health practice by themselves for their life time, many previous studies indicated that most of the essential hypertensives have no specific symptoms and thus, reluctant to follow appropriate medical regimens causing the condition further aggravated and complicated. Thus the comprehensive self-regulation program was conducted as a nursing intervention on the promotion self-care 'performance and improvement in physical parameters of hypertensives. For this purpose, a one group quasi -experimental research with pre and post test design was used. And the whole program was carried out from October, 1993 to February, 1994. Self-regulation program was consisted with group education on hypertension and self-care, self-regulation including the blood pressure self-monitoring and recording, recording of daily self-care activities, and encouraging and reinforcing self-efficacy through verbal persuation and enactive attainment. The subjects were asked to measure their own blood pressure by themselves twice per day and to record blood pressure and the daily self-care performance according to the instructions provided during the whole period of 9 weeks. The data was analyzed by experimental stages: the first week, the fifth week, and the ninth week since the experimental imput began. Data were analyzed by the SPSS PC+ program with paired t -test and F-test, and multiple correlation to determine the variables affecting the effect of program. The results were as follows : 1) Subjects in J company were significantly lower diastolic blood pressure than K company after the program (t=2.39, p=.024). Level of cholesterol was significant difference according to position(t=2.23, p=.034), family history (t=-2.66, p=.013), diagnosis duration, and career(t=2.88, p=.055). Perceived self-efficacy was more significantly increased among the group with family history(t=-3.00, p=.013). 2) Before the program, there were significant positive correlation among the variables: internal-LOC and self-efficacy(r=.3952, p=.015), external-LOC and barriers (r=.6515, p=.000), chance-LOC and Barriers(r=.4133, p=.012). However there were significant negative correlation between internal-LOC and barriers (r=-.3236, p=.041, external-LOC and self -efficacy(r=-.3517, p=.028), self-efficacy and barriers(r=-.6654, p=.000). 3) There were significant relationships between changes in self - care performance and self-efficacy at 5th week (r=.5313, p=.001) and changes in self-efficacy at 9th week(r=.4586, p=.005). 4) After the program, internal health locus of control and perceived benefits showed significant correlation(r=.5673, p=.001, but perceived barriers was negative correlation with perceived self-efficacy (t=-4242, p=.01). From the above results, it can be concluded that the self-regulation program is an effective nursing strategy through the change of variables to promote self-care performance of hypertensives and to increase the self-efficacy. Thus this program can be recommended in the management of the hypertensives in workplaces and community settings.
