Jeju province is the highest area about obesity(1st), alcohol consumption(2nd) and male smoking(2nd) among sixteen Korean provinces by the report of Statistics Korea: 2013 community health survey. Therefore, it is assumed that the incidence rate of colon, liver, lung and breast cancer can be high. The purpose of this study is to test these cancer's incidence and mortality trends and compare comparability with national average. The Joinpoint regression model and permutation tests for identifying changes and parallelism in trend were used to test registered data at Jeju Regional Cancer Registry from 1999 to 2012. In male colorectal cancer, Average Age Percent Change(AAPC) of Age-Standardized incidence Rate(ASR) was 8.4% per year(p-value<.000) and the hypothesis of parallelism with Korean male average was rejected because of steep increasing of Jeju male patients' AAPC(p-value=.047). In male liver cancer, AAPC of ASR was -2.98 % per year(p-value<.000) and parallelism with Korean male average was rejected because of sluggish decreasing of Jeju(p-value=.026). In male lung cancer, the ASR parallelism with Korean male average was rejected(p-value=.009) because Jeju patients APC(4.37% per year) was increased during 2006~2012. This study demonstrates that AAPC and Trends of male colon, male lung and male liver were difference from national average. Further studies are needed to understand its causes.

This was a descriptive survey to determine the intention of users to use smartphone healthcare applications (SHAs) and to clarify factors that may influence such intention. The data were collected during the month of April in 2015, using a structured self-report questionnaire that was distributed to 300 participants aged 20 to 70 years; 285 complete copies were used for the final analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression. First, according to the results, the average intention to use SHAs was 3.28 out of 5, which varied according to age, final education, economy level, vacation, current disease, total period of smartphone use, and etc. Second, significant correlations were shown by exercise behavior, dietary management behavior, stress management, satisfaction with smartphone use, and satisfaction with using SHAs. Third, the explanatory power of the predictive model involving all general, health-related, smartphone use-related, and SHA use-related factors was 45.5%; and the economic level, interest, status, and awareness satisfaction of patients using SHA were identified to be the main influential factors. The results indicate that SHA developers need to put efforts into improving consumers' app recognition and to develop plans in provoking consumers' interests to increase the use of SHAs.
The purpose of the current study was to examine dual mediation effect of executive function deficiencies and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relation of smartphone addiction and subjective well-being and to suggest implications for adult smartphone addiction intervention programs. A self-report survey was conducted to 148 adults(71 males and 77 females) and the mediation effect was evaluated by regression analyses. Key findings are as follows. First, executive function deficiencies showed mediation effect on the relationship between smartphone addiction and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Second, significant mediation effect of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies was not found on the relationship between smartphone addiction and subjective well-being. Finally, the relation of smarphone addiction and subjective well-being was mediated by executive function deficiencies and adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. These results imply that it would be helpful to train executive function and foster emotion regulation strategies to the adult smartphone addiction groups. Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions for future research of the entire adult age group were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of knowledge and risk perception of coronavirus disease-2019 on preventive health behavior among nursing students. The survey participants were 291 students in A city. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires between August 1 and 20, 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression in SPSS ver. 18.0. Knowledge of COVID-19 was significantly dependent on age and school records. Risk perceptions were significantly dependent on educational grades. Age, health status, knowledge, and risk perception had significant effects on preventive health behavior, which was found to be positively correlated with knowledge and risk perception. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that age significantly predicted preventive health behavior (β=.188, p<.01), health status (β=-.245, p<.001), knowledge (β=.254, p<.001), and risk perception (β=.191, p<.001) that it accounted for 18.9% (F=17.904, p<.001) of the variance. An educational program is required to enhance the preventive health behavior of nursing students in a background of COVID-2019 that considers student age, health level, knowledge, and perception of risk.

Sleep quality among university students is important, especially for their physical and psychosocial wellbeing. This study was conducted to investigate the level of smartphone addiction and stress among university students, and to estimate the effects of those variables on sleep quality. Data were collected from August 1st to 14th, 2018 using an online self-report survey to measure demographics including daily activity and indulgence foods, smartphone addiction, perceived stress scale, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (Korean version). Collected data were analyzed by independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The results showed that smartphone addiction, stress, and sleep quality had positive correlation in each relation. Multiple regression analysis showed that the predictors of sleep quality were smartphone addiction (${\beta}=0.041$, p=.001) and stress level (${\beta}=0.177$, p=.001), and the regression equation explained 24.9% of sleep quality. Therefore, higher levels of smartphone addiction and stress were associated with lower sleep quality. Based on these results, it is necessary to reduce unnecessary use of smartphone usage, as well as to develop and apply programs for university students to improve their sleep quality.
The purpose of this study was to investigate differences on empowerment and YANGSAENG - traditional oriental health promotion - depression and non-depression for the elderly. This Study was a descriptive survey using convenience sampling. Elders(N=215), who agreed to participate in this study completed a self-report questionnaire from October to November of 2010. The collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 17.0 program, which was used for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and Pearson correlation coefficients. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) The mean(${\pm}$standard deviation) scores of each measure in this study were 6.61(${\pm}3.53$) for depression, 77.44(${\pm}11.87$) for empowerment, and 109.88(${\pm}18.19$) for YANGSAENG. 37.7% participants belong to the depression group. 2) There were significant differences between depression and non-depression on empowerment(t=6.62, p<.001), YANGSAENG(t=5.31, p<.001). 3) Specifically, among 8 subcategories of YANGSAENG, there were significant differences on Morality Yangsaeng(t=5.93, p<.001), Mind Yangsaeng(t=5.95, p.<001), Diet Yangsaeng(t=3.229, p=.002), Activity and Rest(t=2.21, p=.028), Exercise Yangsaeng(t=4.21, p.<001) and Sleep Yangsaeng(t=4.18, p<.001). 4) Lower depression scores were significantly related to having higher empowerment score(r=-.495, p<.001) and a higher YANGSAENG score(r=-.359, p<.001). Higher empowerment was significantly related to having higher YANGSAENG(r=.351, p<.001). In conclusion, Developing nursing intervention for the depression of the elderly needs more empowerment and more health promotion.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relevance and different factors having an impact on sexual assertiveness and sex stereotypes for the attitude among nursing students toward homosexuality. A survey was conducted on 253 nursing students in D city using a self-report questionnaire. The data was collected from April 11 to April 20, 2019 and it was then analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations and multiple regression using SPSS 22.0. The average of sexual assertiveness in the nursing students was $4.44{\pm}0.37$, and the average of sex stereotypes was $2.08{\pm}0.58$, and the average of attitude toward homosexuality was $2.75{\pm}0.37$. The attitude toward homosexuality according to the general characteristics differed among religions (F=13.32, p<.000), religious life (F=20.43, p<.000) and method of parenting (F=2.74, p<.044). There was a statistically significant negative correlation between sexual assertiveness and the attitude toward homosexuality (r=-0.13, p=.034). Also, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between sex stereotypes and the attitude toward homosexuality (r=0.24, p<.000). Religion, religious life and sex stereotypes were the influential factors. Models that included the variables explained 23.1% of the variance for the attitude toward homosexuality. Thus, it is necessary to create an interventional strategy related to nursing student' attitude towards homosexuality so as to develop a practical educational program for promoting healthy gender identity.

Based on social capital theory, this study investigated the influence of the start-up founder's social competence on the start-up's access to funding sources and performance through the mediating role of the type of social network. This study aimed to examine two types of social networks empirically (i.e., personal networks and business networks) as social capital in analyzing the effect of the founder's social competence and social capital on the method of accessing funding sources. A self-report questionnaire was administered to 252 South Korean start-up founders whose businesses are based in South Korea. Path analysis and mediation effect analysis were performed by structural equation modeling(SEM) using STATA 16.1. This study examined the full mediating effect of the founder's social competence on his/her personal and business networks, respectively, and how the effect leads to different methods to approach funding sources. This is the first study in South Korea to analyze empirically how social competence has contrasting effects on personal and business networks as well as how each type of network varies in its influence on the method founders use to attract investment. This study is also significant in that it proposed a new methodology by utilizing the position generator as the measure of personal and business networks to analyze social networks in detail. The analyses of 252 survey data collected over a period of six months will be a valuable resource that may provide researchers, founders, investors, and other stakeholders in the start-up ecosystem with meaningful implications.
This study was conducted to predict the distribution of rare·endemic plants (Sophora koreensis Nakai) in the border forests where wildfire damage occurred and to quantify the damage. For this purpose, we tried to derive more accurate results through forest area damage (NBR) according to the Burn severity of wildfires, damage by tree species type (Vegetation map), and MaxEnt model. For Burn severity analysis, satellite imagery (Landsat-8) was used to analyze Burn severity (ΔNBR2016-2015) and to derive the extent of damage. To prepare the Vegetation map, the land cover map prepared by the Ministry of Environment, the Vegetation map prepared by the Korea Forest Service, and the vegetation survey conducted by itself were conducted to prepare the clinical map before and after the forest fire. Lastly, for MaxEnt model analysis, the AUC value was derived by using the habitat coordinates of Sophora koreensis Nakai based on the related literature and self-report data. As a result of combining the Maxent model analysis data with the Burn severity data, it was confirmed that 45.9% of the 44,760 m2 of habitat (predicted) area of Sophora koreensis Nakai in the wildfire damaged area or 20,552 m2, was damaged.
