This study was conducted to develop the hydraulic brake assembly for MUAV(Medium-altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). The brake assembly has the self-gap adjuster which performs to maintain a constant gap between the piston and the disk, even if the friction pad wore down. The function of adjuster helps to keep the brake-reaction speed constant and prevent the unnecessary abrasion of the wear pad during the life of the brake assembly. The development of the aircraft hydraulic brake assembly with the self-gap-adjuster in this paper is the first ever in South Korea. The concept of the mechanism was defined and the formula which is necessary to calculate the friction force was set up in the paper. The tester was invented for the functional test and the proper operation of the self-gap-adjuster was confirmed through the test. Dynamo tests and flight tests were also carried out to verify the braking performance of the brake assembly.
In vitro selection was used to isolate $Mg^{2+}$-dependent self-cleaving ribozymes with cis-cleavage activity from a pre-tRNA library having 40-mer random sequences attached to 5'-end of E. coli $tRNA^{Phe}$. After 8 rounds of SELEX (Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment), RNA molecules which can self-cleave at the high concentration of $Mg^{2+}$ were isolated. The selected ribozymes can carry out the self-cleavage reaction in the presence of 100 mM $Mg^{2+}$ but not in 10 mM $Mg^{2+}$. The cleavage sites of the ribozymes are located at +3 and +4 of $tRNA^{Phe}$, compared with +1 position of 5'-end cleavage site of pre-tRNA by RNase P. New RNA constructs deprived of its D stem-loop, anticodon stem-loop, variable loop and T stem-loop, respectively showed the cleavage specificity identical to a ribozyme having the intact tRNA structure. Also, the new ribozyme fused with both a ribozyme and $tRNA^{Leu}$ showed the cleavage activities at the various sites within its sequences, different from two sites of position +3 and +4 observed in the ribozyme with $tRNA^{Phe}$. Our results suggest that the selected ribozyme is not structural-specific for tRNA.
Sol-gel preparation technique using a chemical reaction of metal alkoxides has been widely used for the fabrication of various materials including ceramics. However, its mechanism has been studied till now because a number of chemical ways are possible from various alkoxides and additives. In this study, the mechanism of hydrolysis, condensation, and polymerization of alkoxides were investigated from the fabrication of lead-zirconate-titanate (PbZr$\_$x/Ti$\_$l-x/O$_3$; PZT) thin film that is used as various micro-actuator, transducer, and sensor because of its high electro-mechanical coupling factors and thermal stability. Furthermore, the fabrication process and characteristics of self-patternable PZT film using photosensitive stabilizer were studied in order to resolve the problem of physical damage and properties degradation during dry etching for device fabrication. Using an optimum condition to prepare the self-patternable PZT film, more than 5000 ${\AA}$ thick self-patternable PZT film could be fabricated by three times coating. The PZT film showed 28.4 ${\mu}$c/cm$^2$ of remnant polarization (Pr) and 37.0 kV/cm of coercive field (E$\_$c/).

The propellant KM10, a single propellant manufactured nitrocellulose, is known to cause natural degradation phenomena at long term storage. The self-life was estimated using generally used high temperature acceleration aging tests to analyze the content of stabilizer and using the Arrhenius equation & Berthelot equation to calculate reaction rate constants. According to the result of this study, self-life of propellant KM10 using the Arrhenius equation & Berthelot equation appear significantly different as 43.73, 16.53years and when compared with the paper of E. R. Bixon, self-life of propellant KM10 predicted using the Arrhenius equation was reasonably determined.

The finite element method has been used to model and analyze the heat transfer phenomena during manufacturing process of $MoSi_2$ by SHS(Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis). For this purpose nonlinear transient heat transfer analyses by using ANSYS have been performed to estimate the temperature distributions and the peak temperature in the test specimen. The effects of manufacturing process parameters such as pre-heating temperatures, the velocity of reaction zone have been investigated. The results of the analysis have been compared with the experimental results.
TiC-Ni and TiC-Ni-Mo cermet powders were produced by Self-propagating High temperature Synthesis (SHS) process. The cooling rate of synthesized powders were controlled by using the V-shaped copper jig and the carbide size decreased with increasing the cooling rate I. e decreasing the width of copper jig Round shape carbide particles were produced after SHS reaction in TiC-Ni as well as TiC-Ni-Mo powders. Local segregation of Mo rich phases was observed in SHS powder of TiC-Ni-Mo and the uneven dis-triobution of Mo promoted the faster growth rate of carbide particles during sintering compared to the same composition specimen with commercial TiC powder. Howogeneous microstructure of TiC-Ni-Mo cermet was obtained when the elemental Mo powder was mixed with the SHS powder of TiC-Ni.
$Al_2O_3$-TiC composites were prepared from aluminum, titanium oxide, and carbon fibers by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS). After the SHS reaction, the TiC phase in the sample was found either fibrous or non-fibrous shape. The fraction of the fibrous TiC phase varied with the amount of $Al_2O_3$ diluent addition. The optimum amount of diluent to make fibrous carbide was determined to be 30%. The fibers were hollow inside and made of multiple grains with a composition of titanium carbide. The hollow fiber formation mechanism was suggested and discussed. The synthesized powders were consolidated to dense composites by hot pressing at $1750^{\circ}C$ under 30 MPa.
The variations of the mold compression strength were studied by varing the contents of the silicon powder and water glass, silion purities, and molecule rates of the water glass, when domestic JA EUN DO sand is mixed with water glass (sodium silicate) and metallic silicon or ferro - silicon powder by the self - hardening N - PROCESS method. The results obtained from this experiment are as follows; 1) The compression strength of the mold used with metalic powder was higher and more stable than to be used ferro - silicon powder. 2) 6% water glass of 2.8 molecule rate and 1.5% of ferro - silicon of 75% purity for the N - PROCESS used with JA EUN DO sand was suitable mixing rate. 3) The compression strength increased with self - hardening time, and the PH values of the mixture of silicon powder and water glass did not change after 2 hours, but the compression strength increased steadily due to the reaction of remained silicon. 4) It is recommended to take 24 hours for self - hardening time at least.
