  • The purpose of this study is to investigate antecedents and consequences of perceived justice of performance appraisals, which is classified as distributive and procedural justice, in hospital organization. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, for distributive justice of performance appraisals, the influential factors are the pertinence of performance appraisal method, the opportunity of self-reporting, the availability of performance appraisal, and the feedback of performance appraisal. For the procedural justice of performance appraisals, they are the leadership style of performance appraisers, the ratee-rater exchange relationship, the pertinence of performance appraisal method, the opportunity of self-reporting, and the feedback of performance appraisal. Second, the perceived justice weakly affects outcome variables, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. By these results, the performance appraisal system needs to be changed in order to enhance distributive justice through the improvement of suitable methods of the performance appraisal, the opportunity of self-reporting, the availability of performance appraisal, and the feedback of performance appraisals. If it is difficult to increase the level of distributive justice due to the environmental restrictions in hospitals, the way to enhance the procedural justice more than the distributive one should be considered.

  • Networking together hundreds or thousands of cheap sensor nodes allows users to accurately monitor a remote environment by intelligently combining the data from the individual nodes. As sensor nodes are typically battery operated, it is important to efficiently use the limited energy of the nodes to extend the lifetime of the wireless sensor network (WSN). One of the fundamental issues in WSNs is the coverage problem. In this paper, the border coverage problem in WSNs is rigorously analyzed. Most existing results related to the coverage problem in wireless sensor networks focused on planar networks; however, three dimensional (3D) modeling of the sensor network would reflect more accurately real-life situations. Unlike previous works in this area, we provide distributed algorithms that allow the selection and activation of an optimal border cover for both 2D and 3D regions of interest. We also provide self-healing algorithms as an optimization to our border coverage algorithms which allow the sensor network to adaptively reconfigure and repair itself in order to improve its own performance. Border coverage is crucial for optimizing sensor placement for intrusion detection and a number of other practical applications.

  • A self-organizing multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (multi-UAVs) deployment based on virtual forces has a difficulty in ensuring the quality-of-experience (QoE) of users because of the difference between the assumed center for users in a hotspot and an actual center for users in the hotspot. This discrepancy is aggravated in a non-uniform and mobile user distribution. To address this problem, we propose a new density based virtual force (D-VF) multi-UAVs deployment algorithm which employs a mean opinion score (MOS) as a metric of QoE. Because MOS is based on signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a sum of users' MOS is a good metric not only to secure a wide service area but to enhance the link quality between multi-UAVs and users. The proposed algorithm improves users' QoE by combining virtual forces with a random search force for the exploration of finding multi-UAVs' positions which maximize the sum of users' MOS. In simulation results, the proposed deployment algorithm shows the convergence of the multi-UAVs into the position of maximizing MOS. Therefore, the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional virtual force-based deployment scheme in terms of QoE for non-uniform user distribution scenarios.

  • Interest in spirituality in the workplace is rising as an alternative to overcome the possibility of burnout of social workers. This research has evaluated the results of spirituality education program to social workers in senior welfare centers. CPE(Clinical Pastoral Education) was provided to 25 social workers in 3 different senior welfare centers for 12 to 14 weeks. 4 Focus group interviews with 24 education participants after the end of education were conducted. For the participants of CPE, there were changes in individual levels(habituation of self-reflectivity, the integration of personal spirituality and social worker's spiritualty, expansion of self-awareness and pursuit of altruism), practice behavior(recognition of client's individualism, getting rid of the obsession of proposing a resolution, active listening), and organization levels(intimate fellowship, increase in horizontal relationship in the agencies). Pursuing changes within the organization towards integrating individual and organization spirituality along with social welfare organizations helping the development of social worker's individual spirituality for the simultaneous growth of social workers and the organizations is necessary.

  • With the advent of IoT technology and Big Data computing, the importance of WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) has been on the rise. For energy-efficient and collection-efficient delivery of any sensed data, lots of novel wireless medium access control (MAC) protocols have been proposed and these MAC schemes are the basis of many IoT systems that leads the upcoming fourth industrial revolution. WSNs play a very important role in collecting Big Data from various IoT sensors. Also, due to the limited amount of battery driving the sensors, energy-saving MAC technologies have been recently studied. In addition, as new IoT technologies for Big Data computing emerge to meet different needs, both sensors and sinks need to be mobile. To guarantee stability of WSNs with dynamic topologies as well as frequent physical changes, the existing MAC schemes must be tuned for better adapting to the new WSN environment which includes energy-efficiency and collection-efficiency of sensors, coverage of WSNs and data collecting methods of sinks. To address these issues, in this paper, a self-organization scheme for mobile sensor networks with mobile multiple sinks has been proposed and verified to adapt both mobile sensors and multiple sinks to 3-dimensional group management MAC protocol. Performance evaluations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the previous schemes in terms of the various usage cases. Therefore, the proposed self-organization scheme might be adaptable for various computing and networking environments with big data.

  • In general, a large-scale wireless sensor network(WSNs) is composed of hundreds of or thousands of sensor nodes. In this large-scale wireless sensor networks, it is required to maintain and manage the networks to lower management cost and obtain high energy efficiency. Users should be provided with sensing service at the level of quality for users through an efficient system. In evaluating the result data quality provided from this network to users, the number of sensors related to event detection has an important role. Accordingly, the network protocol which can provide proper QoS at the level of users demanding quality should be designed in a way such that the overall system function has not to be influenced even if some sensor nodes are in error. The energy consumption is minimized at the same time. The protocol suggested in this article is based on the LEACH protocol and is a role-based self-Organization one that is appropriate for large-scale networks which need constant monitoring.

  • In LTE-Advanced that different networks coexist, it is considered that it is actually difficult to provide service continuity with a procedural and static control method applied to the existing voice service. This paper suggests Service Self-Organization to support the service continuity effectively based on SON. It means a method in which a subscriber's terminal collects information about its current condition and base station around, and a base station, through the data collected by monitoring inner or adjacent base station, shares related data and converges, controlling service continuity on its own. In other words, as context information of mobile terminal and base station changes, set-up of related functions such as ISHO, cell selection, source allocation, load control, and QoS mapping is adapted; each function fits into the change, exchanges the process of reorganization, and interacts; these actions go toward to satisfy service continuity. Simulation results show that it provides better performances than the conventional one with the measure of resource utilization rate and outage probability.
