주파수 조절이 가능한 자려식 공진형 인버터의 고속 게이트 구동회로 (Frequency controllable fast switching gate driver for self-resonant inverters)

  • A fast switching gate driver suitable for high performance self resonant electronic ballasts is presented. The proposed gate driver has negligible switching loss and driving loss owing to pnpn structure and zero voltage switching( ZVS ); moreover, the gate driver has frequency control capability. Therefore, a self resonant inverter using proposed gate driver can operate as external exciting resonant inverters. The experiments confirm that the proposed gate driver perform the desired operations over full power control range for 40W fluorescent lamp electronic ballast.

가로등에 적합한 고효율 멀티채널 LED 조명 구동장치 설계 (The Design of High efficiency multi-channel LED light Driver suitable for Streetlamp)

  • LED 조명 구동장치는 150W 이상에서 효율과 발열문제가 있고 W(와트)수가 다른 조명기기를 교체하는데 불편함이 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티채널 LED 조명 구동장치를 드라이버 연동형 구조의 전원시스템과 멀티채널 구조형태의 드라이버 회로내장형으로 설계하였다. 본 개발품은 전원효율 93% 이상 및 역율 0.98 이상의 자동 제어 컨버터 구조로써 드라이버 연동형 구조의 고효율 LED 조명 구동장치와 자기보상방식의 자기최적화 구조의 드라이버다. 따라서, 본 논문은 THD 10% 이하와 기존 컨버터 대비 중량이 40% 이상 감소하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 QVGA급 LCD Driver IC(LDI)의 그래픽 메모리를 설계한다. 저면적을 위해 pseudo-SRAM 구조로 설계하고, 센싱 특성 개선과 line-read 동작 시 구동력 향상을 위해 bit line을 분할한 cell array 구조를 적용한다. 또한, C-gate를 이용한 저면적의 충돌방지 회로를 사용하여 그래픽 메모리의 line-read/self-refresh 동작과 기존의 write/read 동작 상호간의 충돌을 효과적으로 제어하는 방식을 제안한다. QVGA급 LDI의 그래픽 메모리는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS공정을 이용하여 트랜지스터 레벨로 설계하고 회로 시뮬레이션을 통해 그래픽 메모리의 write, read, line-read, self-refresh 등의 기본 동작을 확인하고, 제안된 충돌방지 블록에 대한 동작을 확인하였다. 개선된 cell array를 통해 bit/bitb line 전압차 ${\Delta}V$는 약 15% 증가하고, bit/bitb line의 charge sharing time $T_{CHGSH}$는 약 30% 감소하여 센싱 특성이 향상되었으며, line-read 동작 시 발생하는 전류는 약 40% 크게 감소되었다.

온도 보상 및 듀얼 루프를 이용한 부스트 컨버터 LED 드라이버 IC (A dual-loop boost-converter LED driver IC with temperature compensation)

  • 본 논문에서는 3개의 선형 전류 레귤레이터 그리고 자동 기준 전압 조절과 출력 전압 조절 루프를 포함하는 LED 배면광 드라이버 IC를 제안한다. 제안한 LED 드라이버에서 출력전압은 이중 피드백 루프를 통해 제어된다. 첫 번째 루프는 출력전압을 감지하고 조절하며, 두 번째 루프는 선형 전류 레귤레이터의 전압 강하를 감지하고 기준전압을 조정한다. 이러한 피드백 루프와, 선형 전류 레귤레이터의 전압강하는 드라이버 효율이 최대가 될 수 있는 최소값으로 유지된다. 드라이버의 출력은 각 채널당 4개의 LED를 가지는 3개의 채널 LED 구조이다. 휘도는 펄스 폭 변조(PWM) dimming 신호에 의해 조절된다. 제안한 드라이버는 0.35um의 60-V 고전압 공정에서 설계되었고, 측정 결과 최대 85% 정도의 효율을 가진다.

  • A regenerative signal amplifying gate driver of self-excited electronic ballast is presented. It can be used for high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp without auxiliary external ignitor. Since the HPS lamp requires very high ignition voltage at start up, the resonant frequency of the circuit must be increased to obtain high voltage oscillations in spite of relatively small resonant current. The presented gate driver amplifies the current of gate drive transformer and raises the gate-source voltage Quickly to turn on the MOSFET switches. Hence, the resonant frequency can be increased more than 100kHz. The HPS lamp used in the simulation and experiment has the rating of 400W input power at 220V input ac voltage source. The experiments show that the resonant frequency is above 150kHz at start up.

Optimal Design Methodology of Zero-Voltage-Switching Full-Bridge Pulse Width Modulated Converter for Server Power Supplies Based on Self-driven Synchronous Rectifier Performance

  • In this paper, high-efficiency design methodology of a zero-voltage-switching full-bridge (ZVS-FB) pulse width modulation (PWM) converter for server-computer power supply is discussed based on self-driven synchronous rectifier (SR) performance. The design approach focuses on rectifier conduction loss on the secondary side because of high output current application. Various-number parallel-connected SRs are evaluated to reduce high conduction loss. For this approach, the reliability of gate control signals produced from a self-driver is analyzed in detail to determine whether the converter achieves high efficiency. A laboratory prototype that operates at 80 kHz and rated 1 kW/12 V is built for various-number parallel combination of SRs to verify the proposed theoretical analysis and evaluations. Measurement results show that the best efficiency of the converter is 95.16%.

  • This paper presents the TTFC(Two Transistor Forward Converter) using Synchronous Rectifier of Compulsory Control-driver. The two transistor forward circuit is used to decrease voltage stress of primary side and the synchronous rectifier is used to reduce current stress of secondary side. Previous synchronous rectifier's MOSFET of TTFC have long dead time This paper presents synchronous rectifier of compulsory control-driver for minimized dead time. This paper compared with diode rectifier, self-driven synchronous rectifier and compulsory control-driver synchronous rectifier of TTFC. The principle of operation, feature and design considerations are illustrated and verified through the experiment with a 200W 100kHz MOSFET based experimental circuit.

  • 자동차를 안전운행하기 위해선 운전자는 항상 자동차 상태를 점검해야 한다. 많은 현대인이 자신의 주된 업무 이외에 시간을 따로 할애하여 전문 정비 업소에 방문해 자신의 자동차 상태를 점검받는 것은 정말 어려운 일이다. 지속적으로 자동차 상태를 점검 받지 못하면 운전자 자신의 생명은 물론 주변의 상황까지 어렵게 만드는 큰 사고를 발생할 가능성이 크다. 이를 방지하기 위해 운전자 스스로 자동차 상태를 손쉽게 확인 할 수 있게 도와주는 점검 도구 및 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 운전 중 변화하는 데이터(위치 및 자동차 내부 데이터)를 근거로 주행정보를 기록 후 스마트폰을 활용해 운전자가 스스로 자동차 상태를 손쉽게 점검할 수 있고, 좀 더 나아가 인터넷을 이용해 주행정보를 전문 정비업소에게 공유하여 자동차 상태를 자세히 점검 받을 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

Association Between Convenience of Transportation and Unmet Healthcare Needs of Rural Elderly in Korea

  • Objectives: In rural areas of Korea, where public transportation infrastructure is lacking and alternative systems are poor, the elderly experience inconveniences in using healthcare, although their need is high. This study aimed to analyze the association between the convenience of transportation and unmet healthcare needs among the rural elderly. Methods: The data used were collected in the 2016 Community Health Survey among rural elderly individuals aged 65 or older. Dependent variable was the unmet healthcare needs, explanatory variable was the convenience of transportation. The elderly were divided into 3 groups: with no driver in the household, with a driver, and the elderly individual was the driver (the self-driving group). Covariates were classified into predisposing, enabling, and need factors. They included gender, age, education, income, economic activity, household type, motor ability, subjective health level, number of chronic diseases, anxiety/depression, and pain/discomfort. The data were analyzed using logistic regression and stratification. Results: A significant association was found between the convenience of transportation and unmet healthcare needs. When examined unadjusted odds ratio of the group with a driver in the household, using the group with no driver as a reference, was 0.61 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.54 to 0.68), while that of the self-driving group was 0.34 (95% CI, 0.30 to 0.38). The odds ratios adjusted for all factors were 0.69 (95% CI, 0.59 to 0.80) and 0.79 (95% CI, 0.67 to 0.91). Conclusions: We confirmed a significant association between inconvenient transportation and unmet healthcare needs among the rural elderly even after adjustment for existing known factors. This implies that policies aimed at improving healthcare accessibility must consider the means of transportation available.

Personal Driving Style based ADAS Customization using Machine Learning for Public Driving Safety

  • The development of autonomous driving and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technology has grown rapidly in recent years. As most traffic accidents occur due to human error, self-driving vehicles can drastically reduce the number of accidents and crashes that occur on the roads today. Obviously, technical advancements in autonomous driving can lead to improved public driving safety. However, due to the current limitations in technology and lack of public trust in self-driving cars (and drones), the actual use of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) is still significantly low. According to prior studies, people's acceptance of an AV is mainly determined by trust. It is proven that people still feel much more comfortable in personalized ADAS, designed with the way people drive. Based on such needs, a new attempt for a customized ADAS considering each driver's driving style is proposed in this paper. Each driver's behavior is divided into two categories: assertive and defensive. In this paper, a novel customized ADAS algorithm with high classification accuracy is designed, which divides each driver based on their driving style. Each driver's driving data is collected and simulated using CARLA, which is an open-source autonomous driving simulator. In addition, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) machine learning algorithms are used to optimize the ADAS parameters. The proposed scheme results in a high classification accuracy of time series driving data. Furthermore, among the vast amount of CARLA-based feature data extracted from the drivers, distinguishable driving features are collected selectively using Support Vector Machine (SVM) technology by comparing the amount of influence on the classification of the two categories. Therefore, by extracting distinguishable features and eliminating outliers using SVM, the classification accuracy is significantly improved. Based on this classification, the ADAS sensors can be made more sensitive for the case of assertive drivers, enabling more advanced driving safety support. The proposed technology of this paper is especially important because currently, the state-of-the-art level of autonomous driving is at level 3 (based on the SAE International driving automation standards), which requires advanced functions that can assist drivers using ADAS technology.
