Many plants and animals in nature have superhydrophobic surfaces. This superhydrophobic surface has various properties such as self-cleaning, moisture collection, and anti-icing. In this study, the superhydrophobic properties of PTFE surface were treated by plasma etching. There were four important factors that changed the surface properties. Micro-sized protrusions were formed by plasma etching. The most influential parameter was RF Power. The contact angle of the pristine PTFE surface was about 113.8°. The maximum contact angle of the surface after plasma treatment with optimized parameters was about 168.1°. In this case, the sliding angle was quite small about 1°. These properties made it possible to remove droplets easily from the surface. To verify the self-cleaning effect of the surface, graphite was used to contaminate the surface and remove it with water droplets. Graphite particles were easily removed from the optimized surface compared to the pristine surface. As a result, a surface having water repellency and self-cleaning effects could be produced with optimized plasma etching parameters.
Background: Social support contributes directly and indirectly to maintaining physical, mental, and social well-being. The aim of the study was to identify the impact of social support on self-rated health among Korean industrial accident workers. Methods: This study used data from the panel study of workers' compensation insurance (PSWCI). The final subjects were 2,759 workers who responded to a 2018 to 2020 PSWCI. Social support was defined as social contact with friends, neighbors, family, and social participation activities like religious activity, social activity, and club activity. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate causal relationships between social support and self-rated health using a generalized estimating equation model. Results: Proportion of workers' good self-rated health steadily increased (2018: n=1,447, 63.2%; 2019: n=1,542, 66.2%; 2020: n=1,653, 67.3%). Higher levels of social contacts with friend (worse: reference; same: β=0.442) and higher levels of social activity (yes: reference; no: β=-0.173) were especially associated with good self-rated health. Conclusion: This study confirmed social support positively influenced self-rated health among the self-rated health of industrial injured workers. The results of this study suggested that recovery policies that the government served should include programs enhancing social support for improving health among industrial injured workers.

This study is conducted to evaluate the durability of superhydrophobic surfaces, with a focus on two aspects: contact angle measurement and self-cleaning-performance analysis. Superhydrophobic copper and aluminum surfaces are fabricated using the immersion method and subjected to a rolling wear test, in which a 2 kg weight is placed on a rolling tester, under loaded conditions. To evaluate their durability, the contact angles of the specimens are measured for each cycle. In addition, the surface deformation of the specimens before and after the test is analyzed through SEM imaging and EDS mapping. The degradation of the self-cleaning performance is evaluated before and after the wear test. The results show that superhydrophobic aluminum is approximately 4.5 times more durable than superhydrophobic copper; the copper and aluminum specimens could endure 21,000 and 4,300 cycles of wear, respectively. The results of the self-cleaning test demonstrate that superhydrophobic aluminum is superior to superhydrophobic copper. After the wear test, the self-cleaning rates of the copper and aluminum specimens decrease to 72.7% and 83.4%, respectively. The relatively minor decrease in the self-cleaning rate of the aluminum specimen, despite the large number of wear cycles, confirms that the superhydrophobic aluminum specimen is more durable than its copper counterpart. This study is expected to aid in evaluating the durability of superhydrophobic surfaces in the future owing to the advantage of performing wear tests on superhydrophobic surfaces without damaging the surface coating.
Interfacial evaluation and hydrophobicity of Ni-nanopowder/epoxy composites were investigated for self-sensing and actuation. Contact resistance and resistivity were measured using gradient micro-specimens. The actuation of the composites in the electromagnetic field was studied with three wave functions, i.e., sine, triangle and square functions. Due tothe presence of hydrophobic domains on the heterogeneous surface, the static contact angle of Ni-nanopowder/epoxy nanocomposite wasabout $100^{\circ}$, which was rather lower than that for super-hydrophobicity. The dynamic contact angle showed the similar trend of static contact angle. Ni-nanopowder/epoxy composite was responded wellfor both self-sensing and actuation in electromagnetic field due to the intrinsic metal property of Ni-nanopowder. Displacement of the actuator of Ni-nanopowder/epoxy composite was evaluated to obtain the maximum and the optimum performance using laser displacement sensor as functions of the wave type, frequency, and voltage. Actuation of Ni-nanopowder/epoxy composites also increased as functions of applied frequency and voltage. Actuated strain increased more rapidly at sine wave with increasing voltage compared to those of triangle or rectangular waves.

In automatic welding process using a robot, seam tracking is one of the important parts. Sensor for seam tracking is divided broadly into two categories as non contact sensor and contact sensor. The arc sensor is one of the non contact sensors, and it can be applied in weaving arc and rotating arc welding process. In such the arc sensors, rotating arc sensor can be applied to high speed welding over tens of Hz. The decrease of self regulation by high rotating speed causes to improve accuracy and response of sensor. In this study, fuzzy controller was used to track the seam for the $CO_2$ arc welding which had unstable arc. It could be shown that the rotating arc sensor was better than the weaving arc sensor.

Exact Solution of lateral buckling of elastica column with self-contact was obtained. By assuming that there exists a counter force to maintain the horizontal coordinate at contact point to be the same value as that of highest point of bent beam, we could prevent the shape of solution from overlapping with each other. As the simpliest case, we obtained the elliptic integral solutions of the laterally post-buckled shape of linear elastic inextensible column under concentrated load. (omitted)

Micro/nano adhesion and friction properties of mixed self-assembled monolayer (SAM) with different chain length for MEMS application were experimentally studied. Many kinds of SAM having different spacer chains(C6, C10 and C18) and their mixtures (1:1) were deposited onto Si-wafer, where the deposited SAM resulted in the hydrophobic nature. The adhesion and friction properties between tip and SAM surfaces under nano scale applied load were measured using an atomic force microscope (AFM) and under micro scale applied load were measured using ball-on-flat type micro-tribotester. Surface roughness and water contact angles were measured with SPM (scanning probe microscope) and contact anglemeter. Results showed that water contact angles of mixed SAMs were similar to those of pure SAMs. The morphology of coating surface was roughened as mixing of SAM. Nano adhesion and nano friction decreased as increasing of the spacer chain length and mixing of SAM. Micro friction was decreased as increasing of the spacer chain length, but micro friction of mixed SAM showed the value between pure SAMs. Nano adhesion and friction mechanism of mixed SAM was proposed in a view of stiffness of spacer chain modified chemically and topographically.
No-insulation (NI) pancake magnets are fabricated using Rare earth-Barium-Copper Oxide (REBCO) coated conductor (CC) tapes, which enabled a very compact magnet in the aspects of high critical current density ($J_c$) and high mechanical strength by removing insulation and allowing thinner stabilizer. They have also advantages such as self-quench protection. Therefore, it does not need quench detection and protection that can be very challenging in a high critical temperature ($T_c$) superconducting magnet technology. Recently, it was reported that the NI REBCO CC magnets have some drawbacks of long charging time and high field ramp loss which will be a concern in the operation of cryocooled magnets. These issues are related to the turn-to-turn contact resistivity and can be released by managing it. This is also closely related to the activity of reducing the contact joint resistance in the case of CC joints for long length CC fabrication. Therefore, in this study, the turn-to-turn contact resistance ($R_c$) at the CC contact part of differently stabilized CC tapes was measured. The behaviors of $R_c$ at CC contact parts according to the applied contact pressure were investigated. The range of $R_c$ measured for CC tapes adopted will provide fundamental data for design and fabrication of the CC NI coils.
