대학생의 자아분화, 자아존중감과 정신건강간의 관계 - 우울, 불안을 중심으로 (A Study on Relationships among University Students' Self-differentiation, Self-esteem and Mental Health : Focused on Depression and Anxiety)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine relationships among university students' self-differentiation, self-esteem and mental health. The subjects were 400 students of four universities in Busan and Gyungnam area. A questionnaire survey was done. The results of this study are as follows : First, the levels of university students' self-differentiation and self-esteem were high. Second, university students' self-differentiation and self-esteem were correlated positively. Third, the levels of university students' depression and anxiety were relatively low. It showed that the subjects' mental health of this study were not bad. Fourth, depression had no significant difference by gender. However, female students had higher anxiety than male students had. Fifth, university students' self-differentiation and self-esteem had negative correlation with depression and anxiety, and self-esteem played a role of mediating variable between self-differentiation and mental health. Sixth, family projection, family regression and self integration of self-differentiation had indirect influence upon the students' mental health through self-esteem, while cognitive-emotional function had direct influence upon mental health and had indirect influence upon mental health through self-esteem as well. In this study, university students' self-differentiation and self-esteem were found to be important variables having influence upon mental health, and self-differentiation had indirect influence upon mental health through self-esteem. Counselling intervention strategies should be established considering self-differentiation and self-esteem of the students who complained about their maladjusted emotion and human relation problems at schools. Also, programs enhancing self-differentiation and self-esteem of university students should be developed and the execution of these programs will be needed to help the university students who experienced mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and so on.

임상간호사의 자아존중감과 전문직 자아개념에 관한 연구 (Survey on the Relationship Self-esteem and Professional Self-concept of Nurses)

  • This survey was done to identify the self esteem of nurses in Korea. Data was collected from 700 nurses in hospital setting. These data were collected by self-reporting questionnaire, Rosenberg's self-esteem scale, Professional self-concept of nurses instrument, from Dec. 1994 to Jan. 1995. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with SAS program. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The mean of self-esteem was 30.74. 2. The correlation between self-esteem and PSCNI was slightly moderate(r=.5739). 3. The self-esteem of nurses was found to be significant by age(P=.0245), religion(P=.0004), position(P=.0186). This study suggested that we need to identify the factors influencing self-esteem and to design the program increasing self-esteem.

청소년의 자존감과 노동참여 간의 관계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Relation of Adolescent Self-esteem and Labor Participation)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 자존감이 노동참여와 어떤 관계가 있는가를 분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자존감이 학년별로 차이가 있는가를 분석한 결과 자존감(긍정)은 학교 밖 학생들이 가장 낮았고, 재학생은 학년이 높을수록 자존감이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 자존감에 대한 성별 차이에서 남학생이 여학생보다 자존감(긍정)과 자존감(합계)에서 다소 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 자존감과 노동참여 관계를 분석한 결과 자존감이 낮은 집단에서 아르바이트 경험이 있다고 응답한 비율은 50.4%, 자존감이 높은 집단에서는 50.6%이었다. 자존감의 높고, 낮음이 아르바이트 경험과는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 아르바이트 의향과 자존감과의 관계를 분석한 결과 아르바이트 의향이 있다고 응답한 학생 중에 자존감이 낮은 집단의 비율은 50.5%이고, 자존감이 높은 집단의 비율은 49.5%이었다. 따라서 자존감의 높고, 낮음이 아르바이트 의향과는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 아르바이트 이유와 자존감과의 관계를 분석한 결과 자존감이 낮은 집단에서 아르바이트를 하는 이유가 경제적 이유가 아닌 자발적 동기인 경우가 68.1%이고, 경제적 비자발적 동기인 경우가 31.9%이었다. 또한 자존감이 높은 집단에서 아르바이트를 하는 이유가 경제적 이유가 아닌 자발적 동기인 경우가 75.2%이고, 경제적 비자발적 동기인 경우가 24.8%이었다. 자존감이 높은 집단이 자존감이 낮은 집단에 비해서 자발적 동기가 높고, 비자발적 동기가 낮게 나타났지만, 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 나타나지 않았다.

어머니의 양육행동 및 모-자녀간 갈등과 남녀 청소년의 자아존중감간의 관계 (Maternal Parenting, Mother-Adolescent Conflict, and Adolescent Self-Esteem)

  • The main purpose of this study was to examine the relations between maternal parenting, mother-adolescent conflict, and middle adolescents' self-esteem with a sample of 271 high school students enrolled in 2nd year at high school in Seoul, and their mothers. Data was analysed using correlations and regression analyses. Maternal affection, monitoring and reasoning were positively related with and maternal physical abuse and neglect were negatively related with adolescent self-esteem. Maternal over-expectation and intrusiveness were not related with adolescent self-esteem in boys, but were negatively related with adolescent self-esteem in girls. In both adolescents' and mothers' report, mother-adolescent conflict was related negatively with adolescent self-esteem. In mothers' report, mother-adolescent conflict was not related with adolescent self-esteem in boys, but was negatively related with adolescent self-esteem in girls. In adolescents' report, maternal affection, monitoring and reasoning were negatively related with mother-adolescent conflict, which maternal over-expectation, intrusiveness, neglect, and physical abuse were positively related with mother-adolescent conflict. In mothers' report, maternal affection, monitoring and reasoning were negatively related with mother-adolescent conflict. Mediating roles of mother-adolescent conflict in relation of maternal parenting and adolescent self-esteem were examined. In adolescents' report, mother-adolescent conflict perceived by male adolescents played a mediating role between maternal monitoring, reasoning and physical abuse, representatively, and adolescent self-esteem. And mother-adolescent conflict perceived by female adolescents played a mediating role between maternal parenting with the expectation of maternal affection and adolescent self-esteem. In mothers' report, mother-adolescent conflict perceived by mothers only played mediating role between maternal monitoring and adolescent self-esteem. So, mediating roles of mother-adolescent conflict were more emphasized in the adolescents' report than in the mothers' report. Therefore, the fact that maternal parenting except affection affects the adolescent self-esteem indirectly through mother-adolescent conflict can be found. Implying that maternal affection is crucial in implying positive self-esteem of adolescents.

교정치료환자의 자아존중감에 관한 연구 -대구지역을 중심으로- (A Study on Self-Esteem of Orthodontic Patients in Daegu - Focused on Daegu region -)

  • The purpose of study was to evaluate the effects of orthodontic treatment on the self-esteem of the Patients who take orthodontic treatment. Methods: The subjects were composed of 124 Patients from selected orthodontic dental clinics in Daegu Metropolitan city to evaluate the factors in what demographic sociological character of Patients and character of orthodontic treatment affect to self-esteem. Each subject was evaluated with the scale of self-esteem developed by Cho Bo Ga and Cheon Gui Yeon(1993) and compared by classifying overall self satisfactation, social self-esteem, domestic self-esteem. Result: Results show the factors of self-esteem was high when subjects are highly educated, have high family income and have good social relationship after orthodontic treatment. Conclusion: The results of this study suggested that orthodontic treatment can affect patient's self-esteem.

  • 'Self-esteem' is defined as 'the lived status of one's individual competence and personal worthiness in dealing with the challenges of Life over Time' and high self-esteem is associated with self-confidence, effectively coping, well-being, and responsibility. The first purpose of this study was to identify the concept of self-esteem and to investigate the relationship with self-esteem and responsible environmental behaviors (REB). According to the results, it was found that 'self-esteem' is considered as one of the influential factors on REB and self-esteem enhancement is essential for the responsible choice and determination of environments. The second purpose was to analyse the level of self-esteem in High School students. The mean scores of merits and demerits for all the students involved (402) were 14.58 and 14.91 respectively. By applying the t-test, the two scores were not so different: thus the mean of self-esteem was found to be at a median level. The number of adove-average, average and below-average levels were 114, 163 and 125 respectively. From now on, the development of strategies to enhance self-esteem is urgently needed.

일부 치위생(학)과 학생들의 자아존중감 및 자기효능감과 장애인 인식간의 상관성 분석 (Correlation between self-esteem, self-efficacy, and awareness for disability in dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the correlation between self-esteem, self-efficacy, and awareness for disability in dental hygiene students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 521 dental hygiene students from 5 universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam frm June 13 to July 16, 2016. The questionnaire consisted of self-esteem by Rosenberg (10 items), self-efficacy by Schwarzer (7 items), and the negative awareness for disabled person by Siller (24 items) using Likert 5 point scale. Results: Those who did volunteer activity for disabled person showed high self-esteem and self-efficacy than those who did not. Students having disability-related training experience had high self-esteem (p<0.05). Higher the self-esteem was, higher the self-efficacy was (r=0.655). Higher the self-efficacy was, the lower the negative awareness was (r=-0.142). Higher self-esteem enhanced the positive awareness for the disabled person (r=-0.206)(p<0.01). Conclusions: The systematic curriculum development for the disabled person recognition improvement should be made in order to enhance self-esteem and self-efficacy of the dental hygiene students.

재가노인의 자아존중감, 자가간호와 생활만족도간의 관계 (The Relations between Self-esteem, Self-care and Life Satisfaction in the Home-dwelling Elderly)

  • Purpose: The present study was conducted to identify the relations between self-esteem. self-care and life satisfaction in the home-dwelling elderly. Methods: The subjects were 106 persons aged over 65 in J city. Data were collected from April to June 2005 by a questionnaire survey. The instruments used in this study are the self-esteem scale developed by Rosenberg(1965), the self-care scale by Hwang (2000) and the life-satisfaction scale by Choi (1986). Data were analyzed through t-test, ANOVA. least significant difference, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis using SPSS-Win 10.0. Results: Self-esteem and self-care were in a positive correlation with each other (r=.464, p=.000). Self-care and life-satisfaction showed a significant correlation with each other (r=.222 p=.031), and a significant correlation was found between self-esteem and life-satisfaction (r=.506, p=.000). The most significant predictors influencing life-satisfaction were self-esteem, self-care and perceived health condition, and the three factors accounted for 47.7% of variance in life satisfaction in the home-dwelling elderly. Conclusion: These results suggest that self-esteem, self-care and life-satisfaction can be important factors the quality of life of the elderly in long-term care. Therefore nurses can plan nursing interventions to promote self-esteem, self-care and life satisfaction of the home-dwelling elderly.

노인의 사회적 지지가 자아존중감과 생활만족도에 미치는 영향 (An Effect the Social Support on the Self-esteem and Life Satisfaction in Elderly)

  • Purpose: The study was undertaken from June 1 to July 15, 2008 to assess the effect of social support on self-esteem and life satisfaction in elderly volunteers. Methods: Social support, self-esteem, and life satisfaction were determined using previously established and accepted methods. Data analyses included frequency, ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and simple regression. Results: Subjects' social support, self-esteem, and life satisfaction were closely related. The relationships of social support/self-esteem, social support/life satisfaction, and self-esteem/life satisfaction were significant. Social support accounted for 15% of self-esteem and 12% of life satisfaction. Conclusions: Social support is a very important factor influencing self-esteem and life satisfaction of the elderly. Social support, which sustains the mental health of the elderly, represents one of the best strategic nursing interventions.

청소년 시기별 자아존중감과 스트레스 간의 관련성 비교 (Relationship between Self-Esteem and Stress among Adolescents)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-esteem and stress among adolescents. Methods: The subjects of this study were 1,025 from elementary, middle and high school students in Dangjin city. Data were measured using self-esteem scale and brief encounter psychosocial instrument. The data were analyzed frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression analysis using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: Self-esteem was correlated with stress negatively among adolescents. In multiple linear regression analysis, self-esteem had a statistically significant negative effect on stress. Affecting factors of the self-esteem in all schools were grades, economic status and relationship with parents. Conclusion: The results of this study help to provide a basis for the development of a self-esteem management program to alleviate the stress for adolescents. The program of human relationship should be developed and provided to improve the self-esteem.
