Methods: This study was conducted by self reporting with a 44 items of structured questionnaire by 291 health care workers. The research was a quasi-experimental study using one group pre-post design. AIDS education program was consisted of phases for 50 minutes, using power point by a researcher and research assistants. Data were collected before and after education and was analyzed by descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Results: The level of general cognition about AIDS was low. There were a statistically significant increases in the mean of knowledge(t=-22.17, p=.000) and care intention(t=-2.74, p=.006). However, there was no significant difference in the mean of attitudes(t=-.57, p=.569) between the pre-post test. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed the benefits of providing educational interventions for improving knowledge and care about AIDS, while there not any significant changes in attitudes, especially in items based on Korean socio-cultural values. Therefore, to increase attitude about AIDS, various teaching strategies need to be further studied and evaluated.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to improve the quality of prehospital care provided to infants and toddlers (preschoolers) based on questionnaire findings. Methods: A total of 1,634 running sheets from 119 centers of D city from patients older than 1 month and less than 7 years of age from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013 were reviewed for 119 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) activity analysis. And a self-reported questionnaire about knowledge and competency in prehospital care of preschoolers was completed by 159 EMTs at fire stations in D city. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 21.0. Results: Of 1,634 patients, 58.6% were call to 119 due to disease, 33.8% due to injuries and 7.5% due to traffic accident. Knowledge and confidence in treating preschoolers was significantly higher among paramedic EMTs than basic EMTs. The 119 EMTs surveyed indicated that training for preschooler prehospital care was most needed. Conclusion: In order to provide high quality prehospital care for preschoolers transported to emergency rooms, it is necessary to equip ambulances with the proper equipment. In addition, EMTs should be provided educational opportunities and clinical training.

To achieve such a purpose, thirty cases of the adged patients were sampled the regular and' the irregular hospital visiting group respectively from 20th, Oct. to 29th, Oct. in 1985. The data were collected by means of personal & telephone interview, chart review, and home visiting, and analysed by use of percentage, t-test, $X^2-test$ and Pearson-correlation coefficient. The obtained results were as follows: the regular group scored more than the irregular one (1) on the knowledge of the D. M .. , (2) in expecting internal control on the Health Locus of Control, (3) on the self-care behaviors. The results show us that the self-care of the aged diabetic patient could and must be developed by the adequate nursing intervention.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to conduct a pre-conception care program for women of childbearing age with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Korea and verify its effects on self-efficacy for IBD management, IBD-related pregnancy knowledge, and IBD-related pregnancy anxiety. It also aimed to explore the changes in participants through the program. Methods: A convergent mixed-methods study design was adopted. In the quantitative phase, 35 women (17 and 18 in the intervention and control group, respectively) participated. The intervention group attended a program that included small-group sessions and individual tele-coaching. To confirm the effects, data were collected before and one and four weeks after the intervention. In the qualitative stage, focus group interviews and tele-coaching were conducted with the intervention group. Results: After the program ended, significant differences were observed over time between the intervention and control groups for self-efficacy for IBD management (Wald χ2 = 4.41, p = .036), IBD-related pregnancy knowledge (Wald χ2 = 13.80, p < .001) and IBD-related pregnancy anxiety (Wald χ2 = 8.61, p = .003). Qualitative data analysis revealed the following themes: (1) improving confidence in IBD management and awareness for planned pregnancy; (2) improving IBD awareness related to pregnancy and childbirth; and (3) relieving anxiety about and actively facing pregnancy. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in that, to the best of our knowledge, it is the first to develop a pre-conception care program for women diagnosed with IBD and confirm its effectiveness. Furthermore, this program is expected to be suitable for patient counseling and education in clinical practice.

According to the knowledge level of RSM, the result is $4.40{\pm}0.49$ points for the dental hygienist and $4.22{\pm}0.56$ points for students(p<0.001). 4. According to relationship among self-efficacy, radiation safety knowledge and attitudes, the higher the score for knowledge of RSM was, the higher the score for self-efficacy was. This study was conducted to identify a effect of the comprehensive self-regulation program for hypertensives as a nursing intervention on self-care performance and the physiologic parameters in rural areas. For this purpose, a nonequivalent control group and a pre and post-test quasi- experimental design was used. Fifty-four were evaluated subjects from two Community Health Practitioner Posts in the suburbs of Taejon City. The subjects of the control and experimental groups were matched for age and sex. The self-regulation program developed by author given to the experimental group. The program consisted of group education on hypertension and self-care, self-regulation including the blood pressure self-monitoring, recording of self-care activities, and encouraging and reinforcing self-efficacy. The whole program was carried out from September to November of 1999. The data were analyzed by repeated measure ANCOVA, t-test, and ANCOVA. The results were as follows ; There was significant improvement in the scores on knowledge (F=.68, P=.004), perceived self-efficacy (F=26.39, P=.000), self-care performance (F=26.11, P=.000) of the experimental group compared with those of the control group. There was no significant change on the score of locus of control, perceived benefits and perceived barrier, blood cholesterol level, body weight between two groups (P>.05). From these results, it can be concluded that the self-regulation program is an effective nursing strategy to promote self-care performance of hypertensives in rural area.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutrition knowledge of day-care center teachers and their guidance activities during meal time. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 302 day care center teachers from September to November, 2004. The average score of nutrition knowledge was $12.9\pm2.3$ out of possible 20 points. As the teachers older(p<0.01) and the teaching careers longer(p<0.05), the scores of the nutrition knowledge was significantly higher. Those who had dietitian license showed significantly higher scores than others(p<0.01). Guidance activities during meal time were evaluated by the 5-point Likert scale on 24 items and the average score turned out to be $4.3\pm0.4$. The score showed significant difference only according to the length of the teaching career(p<0.05). These findings suggested that nutritional guidance and nutrition education program for day care center teachers should be developed so that they can effectively manage meal service and provide good nutrition for young children.
Purpose: In Korea, the prevalence of dementia patients has increased, which makes the care burden of nurses important. The purpose of this study is to identify factors affecting the care burden of nurses caring elderly patients with dementia. Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted using a convenience sample of 127 nurses from two hospitals and a nursing home in Korea. Participants completed questionnaires on knowledge of and attitudes toward dementia, social support, self-esteem, dementia problematic behavior (DPB), and professional caregiver burden index. The data were analyzed by using the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression with the SPSS/windows version 21.0 program. Results: The influencing factors for nurse burden include day shift, DPB, self-esteem, social support, which explain 28.0% of care burden of nurses. Conclusion: To reduce the burden of the nurses, there needs to be an administrative system that focuses on enhancing their self-esteem and social support. Active institutional support may be necessary for the nurses taking care of elderly patients with dementia.
