The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties of teachers who teach gifted students in invention and to help address their concerns. To this end, the researcher interviews four teachers with more than three years of experience in guiding gifted students in invention. As a result, they have the difficulties such as difficulties in themselves, relationship with parents, in teaching students, relationship with school and relationship with education office. Supporting measures are 1) strengthening incentives for inventive gifted teachers, 2) continuing in service education, 3) improving the student selection process for gifted students in invention, 4) improving parents' perception of gifted students in invention, 5) improving awareness of school administrators, 6) consistent and continuous administration.
The observation and recommendation system was recently introduced for selecting gifted-students in science, and it has required to arrange the reliable and valid selection criteria that could identify the high potential competency of them. In this study, we explored the competencies that could help to discriminate gifted-students' inner properties, and also developed the dictionary based on them. The competencies were extracted from the proven previous competency dictionaries/models and examined by the structured survey and the focus group interview in order to ascertain the competencies of the science-gifted students. The results revealed that there were two competency clusters such as cognitive and affective domains. The cognitive cluster consisted of 6 competencies as follows: goal suggestion, planning, information collection and analysis, problem solving, higher-order thinking, and expertise and self-development competency. The affective cluster consisted of 3 competencies: confidence, achievement orientation, and curiosity competency. The dictionary categorized by the names, definitions, key elements, and behavioral indicators and their levels of the derived competencies was developed. Findings were expected to provide the implications on the selection criteria of the potential science-gifted students through the observation and recommendation system.
The purpose of this study is to find out what kind of difficulties teachers face in the management of the elementary gifted institutions in the rural area of Chungbuk province. In this study, rural area was defined that the area where gifted education is difficult to access due to geographical accessibility or where gifted education service is restricted. The participants of the this study were three elementary gifted teachers who manage elementary gifted education institutions and is teaching science to disadvantaged gifted students. We collected data about the difficulties and support needs for the management of the gifted institutions in the rural area through the questionnaire and the interview. The results of this study are as follows. First, the common difficulty that teachers expressed was the lack of parental attention and awareness of gifted education. Second, the teachers who participated in this study perceived different difficulties according to their area, experience, and environment. Teacher A is the lack of awareness of the managers, teacher B is the difficulty of student selection, teacher C is the most difficult factor in teacher quality management. This difference in perceptions also led to differences in the support improvements required by gifted class teachers in the rural area. Third, the three teachers commonly referred to difficulties to access due to geographical accessibility, and demanded the integrated management of the gifted class in the rural area and the support for the expansion of the class.
This study is to suggest the alternative to limits of intelligence focused on Psychometric tests. Through this study, it was found that triarchic theory of intelligence and thinking styles, which were suggested by Sternberg, were useful. The subjects are 122 student who are at three science-high-schools. The results show that the subjects preferred judicial, executive, and hierarchical rather than conservative styles of thinking, and they had strong analytical, creative, and practical ability. The correlation between academic achievement and triarchic intelligence except automation was significant. The difference of academic achievements was not significant by styles of thinking related to creativity and pattern of triarchic intelligence. There was no interaction between two variables as we expected. The practical ability illustrated the total academic performance very well. And executive, judicial thinking styles were prediction variable in case of considering with triarchic intelligence. Through the results, it could be suggested that triarchic intelligence and thinking styles of non cognitive concept could be important standard referred to selection for the science-gifted, and argued that the reform of the science-high-school was needed to produce the creative-productive science-gifted student.

The study aims to analyze teachers' perception of the "personality" area, which can be subjective in the in-depth interview process of selecting gifted children and is easily shunned due to its weak immediate effect. To this end, First, when asked about their difficulties as gifted teachers, many of them answered "professionalism and workload" and cited personality as the most important area to address in-depth interviews in selecting gifted students. It also recognized that personality interviews are necessary for the most basic virtues of education and social contribution, and cited cooperation, consideration, and concession as the sub-components to be dealt with in the personality interview. It was necessary to check whether each student's capabilities were evaluated in a variety of ways in an in-depth interview of the teacher's observing and recommending system. And it needed to be supplemented by in-depth observations such as the development of a valid question, camp or debate in the evaluation of the personality area. In order to reflect the needs of the education field, it will be necessary to supplement the personality interview in the gifted children's selection. And there is also a need to continue to study how to guide the personality education of already selected gifted children.
For years, poor research and working conditions in the field of science and engineering in Korea led to the migration of gifted students to seek a better academic environment. The primary reason for such a phenomenon is the lack of a coherent education system for gifted students. With the support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science & Creativity, Hanyang University launched an exploring project to introduce an Honors Program, aiming to provide specialized and systematic learning opportunities as well as supporting greater academic achievements for gifted students at university-level. Students admitted to this program were selected not by conventional standards but by competency-based selection process, assessed through an in-depth interview. The specific goal of this program is to prepare gifted and talented students not only for an academic pioneer with the highest caliber in the field of science, but also for a global leader equipped with a creative view as well as integrity and a convergent mind. Distinctive features of this program include emphasis on fundamental science and consilience, problem solving skills, first-hand education, interpersonal skills, and global communication skills as well as individualization of the learning experience, among many others. This paper provides a short glimpse of the focus and methodology Honors Program in Hanyang University offers.

Identification and discrimination the mathematical giftedness must be based on it's definition and factors. So, there must be considered not only IQ or high ability in mathematical problem solving, but also mathematical creativity and mathematical task commitment. Furthermore, we must relate our ideas with the programs to develop each student's hidden potential not to settle only. This study is focused on the discrimination of the recipients who would like to enter the elementary school level mathematical gifted education program. To fulfill this purpose, I considered the criteria, principles, methods, tools and their application. In this study, I considered three kinds of testing tools. The first was KEDI - WISC personal IQ test, the second is mathematical problem solving ability written test(1st type), and the third was mathematical creativity test(2nd type) which were giving out divergent products. The number of the participant of these tests were 95(5-6 grade). According to the test, students who had ever a prize in the level of national mathematical contest got more statistically significant higher scores on 1st and 2nd type than who had ever not, but they were not prominent on the phases of attitude, creative ability or interest and willing to study from the information of the behavior characteristics test. Using creativity test together with the behavior characteristics test will be more effective and lessen the possibility of exclusion the superior.
Today, as a daily routine such as administration/finance is operated under information system and various cyber crime against national, public, and private institutions happen, demand for information security manpower is increasing. Hence, Ministry of Education has formed an Institute of Information Security Education for the Gifted to early discover talent in the field of information security and train professional personnel with specialty and ethics in 4 universities of country in 2014. But the nascent Institute of Information Security Education for the Gifted lack systematic analyses compared to Institute of Mathematics and Science Education for the Gifted that has existed from a long time ago. In this paper, we analyze the state of the Institute of Information Security Education for the Gifted in three parts: operation, selection, education and suggest an improvement to build a practical program for effective operations and education.

This study analyzed current programs practiced by science-gifted education centers. This study was based on concerns of 18 science teachers on six science-gifted education centers of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education that had local representatives. For this study, we collected data using journals, documents, reports, survey reviews and interviews with science teachers. Science teachers were concerned about the selection and identification of gifted students, education periods, curriculum, and student evaluation. More authentic measurement for students' potential ability were needed for the identification and selection process. If the purpose of science-gifted centers was to be met, the number of students selected should be determined by local differences rather than regional equality. The curriculum and educational period could make good use of time allotted for vacation to increase lesson periods. Lessons based on strategies like contests for improving the students' creativity, free inquiry and communication skills had to be encouraged. A consistent system for science-gifted education from primary school to high school was needed.
The purpose of this study is to devise a model of career decision in the science-gifted by exploring factors of having influence upon career decision in the science-gifted undergraduates of our country, and by examining pattern and path of career decision. By suggesting a model of structure, which synthetically considered factors of parents (parental social support), school (stress of college life, adjustment to college life), and individual characteristics(problem solving ability, career decision-making self-efficacy, conviction for major selection)as for career decision in the science-gifted undergraduates through this study, the aim was to arrange the theoretical frame for career in the science-gifted undergraduates. The research subjects were 93(class of 2007~2009) students who completed education in 2002 and 2003 at the gifted education center affiliated with University, and 264 scholarship students(class of 2005-2008) by the President at home and abroad, who are receiving scholarship by being selected as a science scholarship student by the incumbent President. The measurement tools, which were used in this study for collecting data, are test of parental social support, test of problem-solving ability, test of stress in college life, test of adjustment to college life, test of efficacy in career decision, and test of having confidence in selecting a major. For statistical analysis of the collected data, SPSS Program and AMOS Program were used. As a result, the model showed a good fit to the present data in the science-gifted undergraduates, TLI=.928, CFI=.941, RMSEA=.059. It was confirmed to be a model that is accepted in the group of the science-gifted undergraduates. Also, hypotheses, which were established on the basis of a theoretical quest, could be known to have been all adopted except one path. The results of this study can be offered as basic data for developing program and implementing a system in order to broaden the width of understanding about career and to help the career decision in the science-gifted.
