Active vibration isolation systems need the following performance specifications which are different from those of existing positioning systems: usage of seismic sensors, strict suppression of phase lead/lag in signal processing for sensors and actuators, excellent control in low frequency range and so on. In consideration of such specifications, a 3-DOF precision stage for vibration isolation is designed and modeled based on the physical characteristics. Then the major parameters such as spring constants and damping coefficients are valued by the system identification method using empirical transfer function. Finite element analysis is used as a verification and simulation tool throughout this research. This paper lays the foundation for the future research on the control of the active vibration isolation system.
The ASME strainers have been newly installed at the suction side of each reactor coolant pump to get rid of the foreign materials which may damage the pump impeller or interfere with the coolant path of fuel flow tube or primary plate type heat exchanger. The strainer was designed in accordance with ASME SEC. III, DIV. 1, Class 3 and the structural integrity was verified by seismic analysis. The screen was designed in accordance with the effective void area from the result of flow analysis for T-type strainer. After installation of the strainer, it was confirmed through the field test that the flow characteristics of primary cooling system were not adversely affected. The pressure loss coefficient was calculated by Darcy equation using the pressure difference through each strainer and the flow rate measured during the strainer performance test. And these are useful data to predict flow variations by the pressure difference.

The scope of ISO/TC 108/SC 6, revised in accordance with Doc. ISO/TC 108/SC 6 N 35, September 1997, is as follows: Standardization in the field of vibration and shock generating systems, for test purposes (including environment, seismic and dynamic testing, calibration and diagnostics) as well as auxiliary equipment and instrumentation normally associated with it. Vibration and shock generating systems as an object of standardization within ISO/TC 108/SC 6 are only those systems that are used during vibration/shock testing to determine properties of a specimen. Vibration and shock systems being used in such processes as transportation, milling, compacting, metal working, etc., as parts of vibration control systems or household appliances and in health services, are not covered by ISO/TC 108/SC 6.

This paper deals the shaking table tests with 1/100 scaled model followed by Scott & Iai(1989)'s similitude law for OO dam main desging section to understand nonlinear behavior characteristics of concrete dam body by earthquake wave. As earthquake wave, Hachinohe and Elcentro waves were used and acceleration and displacements are measured to analyze behaviors of dam body. For ground maximum acceleration range ($0.3^{\sim}0.9g$), the results showed linear behavior regardless of ground maximum acceleration and secured safety of structure. To analyze the behavior of dam after tension cracking, 3cm-notch was placed at the critical section of over-flowing section. As results of applying Hachinohe wave(0.8g), Even though tension cracks were formed at over-flowing section by Hachinohe wave(0.8g), it showed that the dam is stable for supporting upper stream part of water tank of dam.

Semi-active control systems have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years, because they offer the adaptability of active devices without requiring large Power sources. One of the most Promising semi-active devices proposed for structural control is magneto-rheological fluid dampers (MR damper). In this paper, an MR damper having the capacity of about 1 ton was designed and fabricated. and series of tests were performed to grasp the fundamental Performance characteristics of it. It was also applied to a 6-story steel structure under random excitation and 3-different seismic excitations for the confirmation of its validity on structural vibration absorption. Through this study, the techniques and know-hows for MR damper production were acquired.

This paper focuses on presenting modeling considerations and insight into the performance of typical straight, curved, and skewed box-girder bridges in California which form the bulk of the bridge inventory in the state. Three case study bridges are chosen: Meloland Road Overpass, Northwest Connector of Interstate 10/215 Interchange, and Painter Street Overpass, having straight, curved, and skewed superstructures, respectively. The efficacy of nonlinear dynamic analysis is established by comparing the response from analytical models to the recorded strong motion data. Finally insights are provided on the component behavioral characteristics and shift in vulnerability for each of the bridge types considered.

Coupled shear walls consist of two or more in-plane walls inter-connected with coupling beams. In order to effectively resist seismic loads, coupling beams must be sufficiently stiff, strong and posses a stable load-deflection hysteretic response. Much of requirements to the civil and building structures have recently been changed in accordance with the social and economic progress. Ductility of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites(HPFRCCs), which exhibit strain hardening and multiple crackling characteristics under the uniaxial tensile stress is drastically improved. This paper provides background for design guidelines that include a design model to calculate the shear strength of pseudo strain hardening cementitious composite steel coupling beam.

To evaluate the seismic performance of multistory building structures use an equivalent SDOF model. This paper presents a method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model. The principal objective of this investigation is to evaluate appropriateness of converting method through perform nonlinear time history analysis of a multistory building structures and an equivalent SDOF model. The hysteresis rules to be used an equivalent SDOF model is obtained from the pushover analysis. The conclusion of this study is following; A method of converting a MDOF system into an equivalent SDOF model through the nonlinear time history response analysis is valid. The representative lateral displacement of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames is close to the height of the first modal participation vector $_1$$\beta${$_1$u}=1. It can be found that the hysteresis rule of an equivalent SDOF model have influence on the time history response. Therefore, it is necessary for selecting hysteresis rules to consider hysteresis characteristics of a moment resisting reinforced concrete frames.
This paper investigates the effectiveness of widely used identification methods to identify the response of seismically isolated structures supported on bearings with bilinear behavior. The paper shows that while both time domain and frequency domain methods predict with high accuracy the modal characteristics of structures isolated by linear isolation system, their performance degrades appreciably when the isolation system exhibits bilinear behavior even when its strength assumes moderate values (say 5% of the weight). The paper also shows that the natural period of isolated structure that results from bilinear isolation systems can be satisfactorily predicted with wavelet analysis.
Velocity model building is an essential procedure in seismic data processing. Conventional techniques, such as traveltime tomography or velocity analysis take longer computational time to predict a single velocity model and the quality of the inversion results is highly dependent on human expertise. Full-waveform inversions also depend on an accurate initial model. Recently, deep neural network techniques are gaining widespread acceptance due to an increase in their integration to solving complex and nonlinear problems. This study investigated cases of seismic velocity model building using deep neural network techniques by classifying items according to the neural networks used in each study. We also included cases of generating training synthetic velocity models. Deep neural networks automatically optimize model parameters by training neural networks from large amounts of data. Thus, less human interaction is involved in the quality of the inversion results compared to that of conventional techniques and the computational cost of predicting a single velocity model after training is negligible. Additionally, unlike full-waveform inversions, the initial velocity model is not required. Several studies have demonstrated that deep neural network techniques achieve outstanding performance not only in computational cost but also in inversion results. Based on the research results, we analyzed and discussed the characteristics of deep neural network techniques for building velocity models.
