We investigate the via-size dependance of as-electroplated- and reflow-bump shapes for realizing both high-density and high-aspect ratio of solder bump. The solder bump is fabricated by subsequent processes as follows. After sputtering a TiW/Al electrode on a 5-inch Si-wafer, a thick photoresist for via formation it obtained by multiple-codling method and then vias with various diameters are defined by a conventional photolithography technique using a contact alinger with an I-line source. After via formation the under ball metallurgy (UBM) structure with Ti-adhesion and Cu-seed layers is sputtered on a sample. Cu-layer and Sn/pb-layer with a competition ratio of 6 to 4 are electroplated by a selective electroplating method. The reflow-bump diameters at bottom are unchanged, compared with as-electroplated diameters. As-electroplated- and reflow-bump shapes, however, depend significantly on the via size. The heights of as-electroplated and reflow bumps increase with the larger cia, while the aspect ratio of bump decreases. The nearest bumps may be touched by decreasing the bump pitch in order to obtain high-density bump. The touching between the nearest bumps occurs during the overplating procedure rather than the reflowing procedure because the mushroom diameter formed by overplating is larger than the reflow-bump diameter. The arrangement as zig-zag rows can be effective for realizing the flip-chip-interconnect bump with both high-density and high-aspect ratio.
The phenolic substances contents of 45 plant foods in Korean diet were determined by different methods. Total phenolics contents by Folin-Denis method were $0.1{\sim}5.8%$ (dry matter basis), in which persimmon leaf, chestnut's inner skin, Chinese quince, walnut, sunflower seed and arrowroot exhibited the higher levels above 2%. Condensed tannin contents by vanillin method were $0{\sim}48%$, in which Chinese quince and chestnut's inner layer gave very high levels. Protein-precipitable phenolic substances ranged from 0.4% to 2.2%, in which chestnut's inner layer, walnut and Chinese quince had the highest content. The ability of phenolics to form precipitate was higher with pepsin and albumin than with trypsin. Among different phenolics content, total phenlolics correlated significantly with protein-precipitable phenolics (r=0.65) and condensed tannin (r=0.56). Chinese quince, chestnut's inner skin and sorghum showed a relatively lower degree of polymerization, as expressed by vanillin/FolinDenis ratio. Processed foods from buckwheat, acorn, mugwort and arrowroot showed a lower content of phenolic substances, suggesting a negligible adverse effect on the bioavailability of food proteins, if any.

A variety of revegetation methods are being utilized and developed. However, most of revegetation methods used on highway slopes in Korea are based on foreign-introduced plant varieties to stabilize road surfaces and to administer afforestation for surface covering at an earlier phase. Therefore. it results in various problems. such as failure to achieve harmony with the surrounding vegetation and 10 cause re-denudation of slopes as the foreign-in introduced plant varieties wane out from 2~3 years after hydro-seeding, etc. In addition, some of the revegetation plants seeded in the earlier phase grow excessively high, thus causes successional problems, such as to inhibit the invasion of the secondary vegetation from the surrounding areas, etc. Therefore, in this study, 160 slopes located in the nationwide express highways have been investigated and analyzed in order to produce basic data for restoration of ecological environment in slopes created on a long-term basis by investigating and analyzing locational characteristics of cut and filled slopes in express highways, status of revegetation methods, characteristics of soil and plant-ecological environment. 1. Investigation on cut and embanked slopes in express highways was carried out in the total of 160 locations, which include 108 cut slopes and 52 embanked slopes. As a whole, the most frequently used revegetation method was seed spray, which was found to be used in the total of 55 target slops investigated. 2. Planting method of Wistaria floribunda applied to some of the blasted rock zones was found to cause damages as Wistaria floribunda trailed up the surrounding vegetation and the secondary invaded trees. In order to prevent this, this method must be used only in the lowest parts of large-sized slopes. Also, it will be required to administer continuous management and maintenance in the areas already planted with this plants. 3. The areas of blasted rock and ripping rock slopes were applied with coir net (net + seeding) method. However, many of these areas failed in achieving ground covering. Most areas where revegetation was in progress, they were covered with Eragrostis curvula(Weeping lovegrass) only. In areas with soil, such as decomposition of granite, where afforestation is difficult. In this slopes, soil base must be improved by hrdroseeding with thin-layer vegetation base application methods in order to achieve success in afforestation with native plants. 4. Woody species, rather than herb species, are more helpful in stabilization of slope surfaces. Therefore, it is important to be able to grow and protect woody species on highway slopes. Growth of woody vegetation is most largely influenced by soil depth. Thus, when hydro-seeding woody plants, it is recommended to apply at the upper layer of the slopes, which is capable to sufficiently provide the fundamentals required in plant growth.
This study was carried out to offer a basis data for conservation and application of effective management of Camellia japonica stand in Hakdong, Geoje Island. Field survey was conducted at C. japonica stand, mixed stand, Chamaecyparis obtusa plantation, and Pinus thunbergii stand. Importance value of C. japonica at tree layer was highest in C. japonica stand and mixed stand, and that of C. obtusa and P. thunbergii were highest in C. obtusa plantation and P. thunbergii stand, respectively. At subtree layer, C. japonica, Callicarpa dichotoma, Neolitses serices, and Styrax japonica had the highest importance value in C. japonica stand, mixed stand, C. obtusa plantation, and P. thunbergii stand, respectively. The species diversity ranged from 0.121 to 1.589 in C. japonica stand, 0.543 to 1.540 in mixed stand, 0.276 to 1.321 in C. obtusa plantation, and 0.764 to 1.523 in P. thunbergii stand, respectively. Soil pH was 5.72 in C. japonica stand, 5.26 in mixed stand, 5.21 in C. obtusa plantation, and 5.32 in P. thunbergii stand. The content of organic matter and total N were 5.77, 0.48% in C. japonica stand, 4.41, 0.30% in mixed stand, 3.28, 0.33% in C. obtusa plantation, and 5.32, 0.28% in P. thunbergii stand.
Cloud-aerosol interactions are considered to be one of the most important forcing mechanisms in the climate system. However, there is considerable disagreement on the magnitude and even on the sign of how aerosol perturbations affect cloud fraction and lifetime. Furthermore, aerosol effects on clouds and precipitation are not readily separable from the effects of meteorology. This review paper summarizes the study of precipitation susceptibility $S_o$, which qualifies how aerosol perturbations alter the magnitude of the precipitation rate (R) while minimizing the effects of macrophysical factors such as cloud depth (H) and liquid water path (LWP). The analysis shows that the precipitation susceptibility $S_o$ for the warm marine boundary layer clouds is insensitive to aerosol perturbations at low LWP (equivalently low H). However, R decreases as aerosols increase at intermediate LWP. This is because aerosols act as cloud seed and produce numerous small-sized particles, which impede the collision and coalescence process that leads to precipitation. At high LWP, $S_o$ decreases with increasing LWP as there are enough water contents in the clouds. The LWP or H dependent $S_o$ behavior differs depending on the predominant cloud physics processes in the clouds.
Color is one of the quality determining factors for pepper powder. To measure the color of pepper powder, several methods including high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), thin layer chromatography (TLC), and ASTA-20 have been used. Among the methods, the ASTA-20 method is most widely used for color measurement of a large number of samples because of its simplicity and accuracy. However it requires time consuming preprocessing steps and generates chemical waste containing acetone. As an alternative, we developed a fast and simple method based on a visible/near infrared (Vis/NIR) hyperspectral method to measure the color of pepper powder. To evaluate correlation between the ASTA-20 and the visible/near infrared (Vis/NIR) hyperspectral methods, we first measured the color of a total of 488 pepper powder samples using the two methods. Then, a partial least squares (PLS) model was postulated using the color values of randomly selected 3 66 samples to predict ASTA values of unknown samples. When the ASTA values predicted by the PLS model were compared with those of the ASTA-20 method for 122 samples not used for model development, there was very high correlation between two methods ($R^2=0.88$) demonstrating reliability of Vis/NIR hyperspectral method. We believe that this simple and fast method is suitable for highthroughput screening of a large number of samples because this method does not require preprocessing steps required for the ASTA-20 method, and takes less than 30 min to measure the color of pepper powder.
Seed pelleting is generally conducted in order to save the labor for sowing and thinning by enabling the precision mechanical planting. In the present study, the influence of physical and chemical properties of pelleting solid materials was investigated on carrot seed germination. Among the pelleting solid materials evaluated, dialite, kaolin, and talc showed low bulk density and high porosity. Bentonite and dialite carried high water holding capacities of 184% and 173%, respectively, while calcium carbonate, calcium oxide, and fly ash showed relatively low water holding capacity. The pH of kaolin (6.8) and dialite (7.4) were close to neutral, while limestone (12.8), calcium oxide (13.0), and bentonite (10.0) were highly basic. High electro-conductivity was shown in limestone and calcium oxide. EDS analysis revealed that the main elemental compositions of talc were Si (71.0%) and Mg (29.0%), and those of calcium carbonate were Ca (66.6%), Si (22.9%), and Mg (10.5%). High granulation capacity was observed from talc and the mixture of talc and calcium carbonate. Seeds pelleted with bentonite showed the highest hardness. The dissolving type of the pellet layer after imbibition was split type in talc, limestone, zeolite, and fly ash, melt type in calcium carbonate and calcium oxide, and swell type in bentonite and vermiculite. The shortest dissolving time of pellet layer was observed from calcium carbonate and kaolin. The germination speed $(T_{50})$ was delayed as the size of pelleted seeds increased. The optimum size of pelleting was 19 ratio in carrot.

Antimicrobial activity of Zanthoxylum piperitum was investigated against Streptococcus mutans that causes dental caries. Although the methylene chloride extract of seeds exhibited higher antimicrobial activity than other organic solvent extracts, including methanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane extracts of pericarps or seeds of Z. piperitum, essential oils prepared from both seeds and pericarps possessed more potent inhibitory activity than the methylene chloride extract of seeds. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the essential oils of seeds and pericarps were 0.3 mg/ml and 4.0 mg/ml against S. mutans, respectively. When the seed essential oil was further separated into seven fractions (CS-SD-A${\sim}$CS-SD-G) by thin layer chromatography (TLC), all fractions exhibited lower antimicrobial activity than the essential oil. To understand the antimicrobial ingredients of Z. piperitum, seeds the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) data of the methylene chloride extract of seeds was compared with those of the seed essential oil (CS-SD). Whereas the methylene chloride extract of seeds contained carvacrol (0.24%), ${\beta}$-caryophyllene (1.72%), and ${\alpha}$-humulene (0.88%), which were previously known to inhibit growth of S. mutans, the seed essential oil contained sabinene (1.57%), linalool (1.55%), citronellal (13.67%), terpinene-4-ol (0.45%), citronellol (3.69%), geraniol (0.9%), linalyl acetate (1.35%), ${\beta}$-caryophyllene (1.35%), ${\alpha}$-humulene (0.78%), and ${\delta}$-cadinene (0.67%) in this regard. These results indicate that Z. piperitum seeds possess various inhibitory substances against S. mutans, and an effective method to isolate the active ingredients from the seeds is to prepare the essential oil. These results also suggest that the essential oil of Z. piperitium seeds may be applicable to preventing dental caries.

Nanoporous $TiO_2$ films are commonly used as working electrodes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). So far, there have been attempts to synthesize films with various $TiO_2$ nanostructures to increase the power-conversion efficiency. In this work, vertically aligned rutile $TiO_2$ nanorods were grown on fluorinated tin oxide (FTO) glass by hydrothermal synthesis, followed by deposition of an anatase $TiO_2$ film. This new method of anatase $TiO_2$ growth avoided the use of a seed layer that is usually required in hydrothermal synthesis of $TiO_2$ electrodes. The dense anatase $TiO_2$ layer was designed to behave as the electron-generating layer, while the less dense rutile nanorods acted as electron-transfer pathwaysto the FTO glass. In order to facilitate the electron transfer, the rutile phase nanorods were treated with a $TiCl_4$ solution so that the nanorods were coated with the anatase $TiO_2$ film after heat treatment. Compared to the electrode consisting of only rutile $TiO_2$, the power-conversion efficiency of the rutile-anatase hybrid $TiO_2$ electrode was found to be much higher. The total thickness of the rutile-anatase hybrid $TiO_2$ structures were around $4.5-5.0{\mu}m$, and the highest power efficiency of the cell assembled with the structured $TiO_2$ electrode was around 3.94%.

The current study was conducted to compare the effect of crossbred on the body weight and laying performance of Korean native chicken from hatch to week 40. A total of 873 one-day-old chicks were divided into twelve crossbreds (i.e., CFCK, CFYC, CFYD, CKCF, CKYC, CKYD, YCYD, YCCF, YCCK, YDCF, YDCK, and YDYC) and commercial layer (Hy-Line Brown) were obtained as a counterpart in the study. All the birds are raised in battery cages (76 × 61 × 46 cm3) and then raised until 14 weeks and subsequently moved to layer battery cages (60 × 25 × 45 cm3) and raised until 16 weeks. The body weight and viability were measured biweekly from hatching to week 16. The week of 16, body weight range was about 1,010.24 to 1,411.77 g. The body weight of specific crossbreeds (i.e., CKCF, YCYD, and YDYC) was found to be comparable to that of Hy-Line Brown). The viability hatch to week 14 range was about 55 to 100% and however week 14 to 16 range was 80 to 100%. The crossbred (i.e., CKCF) recorded superior (P<0.05) viability throughout the whole experiment period, even compared with Hy-Line Brown (100% vs 96%). Our results are indicating that crossbreds Korean native chicken including CKCF, and YDYC has the potential to enhance key features of laying hens during the growing phase like optimal body weight and higher viability.
