This paper is an attempt to explore semiotic representations of subway space as the urban machine space of local mobility in terms of space, time and place. For this, the second section of the paper reviews the contours of the urban space of mobility in terms of 'machine space', 'non-place' and 'cognitive map'. The third section interprets the sings of 'spatial' and 'temporal' representations of subway space in Daegu, and suggests the implications of the semiotic representations. It is uncovered that various sign-scapes which coexist in the subway space in coordinated or contradictory ways product the space into multiple and complex techno-social spaces. That is, the spatio-temporal representations of the subway space form the space of 'non-place' on the one hand and the space of 'place' on the other hand, and involve the spatialization of 'memory' on the one hand and the spatialization of 'forgetting' on the other hand. Thus, the subway space should be regarded to be not only the space of 'mobility' which people move in and through, but also the space of 'identity' which has effects on the ways for them to see the machine space and its urban space.
This study of elderly in-patient subjects' expected level of care given by family members and nurses is intended to provide foundational information for use by nurses is attending to elderly patients. The objects of the study were elderly in-patients over the age of 65 hospitalized at two General hospitals in Chonju: 102 subjects filled out the 60 question survey between December 16 and 24. 1996. The analysis process was conducted using SPSS producing percentage. mean and standard deviation. maximum and minimum values. t-test, ANOVA. and so on. The results are as follows: 1. From the general results of the survey. one can observe that statistically significant differences appeared in various levels of education of the subjects: no education(2.98). primary school completed(2.91). middle school or higher completed(2.77). As shown. the lower level of education correlates with higher care-giving expectation. 2. On a scale of 1(minimum) to 4(maximum). the mean levels of care expected by elderly inpatients from their families is 2.93. with a standard deviation of 0.28. The level of psychological care expected(mean 3.02. standard deviation 0.31) is higher than the level of care expected(mean 2.83. standard deviation 0.34). 3. The level of care expected among those of different levels of dependency for daily living (differentiated as dependent. partially dependent. independent) was highest among the partially dependent(mean 2.98. standard deviation 0.17). but the results were not statistically significant. 4. Elderly in-patients with high levels of emotive interaction with their families expected relatively high levels of physical care. while the highest levels of socio-psychological care were expected from those who reported normal levels of emotive interaction with their families. However. We can see that low levels of care are expected from those reporting low levels of emotive interaction with their families. Overall. the differences in the level of care expected between those reporting different levels of emotive interaction with their families was not shown to be statistically significant.
Objective: Classically, single photon emission tomography is known to be the reference standard for evaluating the hemodynamic status of patients with moyamoya disease. Recently, T2-weighted perfusion magnetic resonance(MR) imaging has been found to be effective in estimating cerebral hemodynamics in moyamoya disease. We aim to assess the utility of perfusion-weighted MR imaging for evaluating hemodynamic status of moyamoya disease. Methods: The subjects were fourteen moyamoya patients(mean age: 7.21 yrs) who were admitted at our hospital between Sep. 2001 to Sep 2003. Four normal children were used for control group. Perfusion MR imaging was performed before any treatment by using a T2-weighted contrast material-enhanced technique. Relative cerebral blood volume(rCBV) and time to peak enhancement(TTP) maps were calculated. Relative ratios of rCBV and TTP in the anterior cerebral artery(ACA), middle cerebral artery(MCA) and basal ganglia were measured and compared with those of the posterior cerebral artery(PCA) in each cerebral hemispheres. Using this data, we analysed the hemodynamic aspect of pediatric moyamoya disease patients in regarding to the age, Suzuki stage, signal change in FLAIR MR imaging, and hemispheres inducing symptoms. Results: The mean rCBV ratio of ACA, MCA did not differ between normal children and moyamoya patients. However the significant TTP delay was observed at ACA, MCA territories (mean = 2.3071 sec, 1.2089 see, respectively, p < 0.0001). As the Suzuki stage of patients is advanced, rCBV ratio is decreased and TTP differences increased. Conclusion: Perfusion MR can be applied for evaluating preoperative cerebral hemodynamic status of moyamoya patients. Furthermore, perfusion MR imaging can be used for determine which hemisphere should be treated, first.

In regard to modular systems, new methods, as well as middle and high-story unit design ideas, are currently being studied. These studies need to focus on the enhanced stiffness and seismic performance of these connections, and see that the development of fully restrained moment connections can improve the seismic performance. For this reason, this study evaluates the performance of the connections of the ceiling bracket-typed modular system through repeated loading tests and analyses. In order to compare them with these modular units, new unit specimens with the bracket connection being different from that of the traditional modular unit specimens were designed, and the results of repeated loading tests were analyzed. In the traditional units, the structural performances of both welding connection and bolt connection were evaluated. In regard to the testing results, the initial stiffness of the hysteresis curve was compared with the theoretical initial stiffness, and the features of all specimens were also analyzed with regard to the maximum moment. In addition, the test results were examined with regard to the connection flexural strength of the steel special moment frame specified under the construction criteria KBC2016. The connections, which were proposed in the test results, were found to be fully restrained moment connections for designing strong column-weak beams and meeting the requirements of seismic performance of special moment frames.

Studying the definition and building a foundation about variables during elementary school is a crucial factor before students study the variable in depth in middle school. So, forming a basis for understanding variable in this period should be treated with importance, because it is the first step in forming a clear understanding of the concept of variables. According to analysis of the types of letters used in current textbooks, we can see that too much emphasis was placed on type 1(letter evaluated), type 3(letter used as an Object). By not utilizing the various types of letter usage we reduce the situation to one which is removed from the context and an automatous style of learning. Therefore, the purpose of this study was the development about early algebra learning materials which use diverse types of letters. We have analyzed the types of letters used from the 4-ga to 6-na mathematics textbooks and the 4-ga to the 6-na workbooks. To make learning materials for well-balanced letter use, we developed learning materials focused on early algebra with the 6-ga and the 6-na textbooks.
This study attempted to identify the effect of senescent sexual attitude and desire of 352 aged people living in institutions on coping behavior. The main findings of this study are summarized as follows: Firstly, the negative sexual attitude was higher than the positive one of the aged people, the subjects of this study, and their sexual desire and coping behavior showed a low level, falling short of the median. Secondly, as for the positive sexual attitude of aged people in the institution, the point of sexual attitude of those under age 65 appeared high. As for the negative attitude, the point was higher among those over 89 in age, that of the group who graduated from elementary and middle schools was also high, showing a U-turn curve in the order of those with an academic background of high school and above and those with no academic background. Thirdly, as for sex drive, the point of sexual attitude of those under age 65 appeared high in cases where persons engaged in the institution look at the relationship between aged men and women as good and in cases where aged people in the institution see the relationship among their fellow aged people as good. As for the desire for sexual relationship, the lower their ages were, their points were higher; and in terms of academic background, the highest were those with none, followed by those who graduated from high school and above and by those who did from elementary and middle schools, showing a U-turn curve. Fourthly, as for the problem-focused coping behavior of aged people in the institution with respect to coping behavior toward the sex, the lower their ages were lower, the higher their points were, and the points were also high in cases where persons engaged in the institution look at the relationship between aged men and women as good and in cases where aged people in the institution see the relationship among their fellow aged people as good. As for the problem-evading coping measure, the points for men at age between 66 and 75 appeared high in cases where persons. Fifthly, the higher the positive sexual attitude of aged people in the institution was, the lower their negative sexual attitude was while the higher the sex drive and the desire for sexual relationship were; and they were shown to do problem-focused coping behavior and problem-evading coping behavior well. Sixthly, the more positive their sexual attitude was, the higher the sex drive and the desire for sexual relationship were, the better they were shown to do problem-focused coping behavior
City of Gyeongju's referendum finally offered the long-waited low-level radioactive waste disposal site in November 2005. Gyeongju's positive decision was due to the various economic rewards and incentives the national government promised to the city. 300 billion won for an accepting bonus, the location of the headquarter building of the Korean Hydro and Nuclear Power Co., and the accelerator research center and 3.25 trillion won for supporting regional development program implementation. All of the above will affect the city's infrastructure and the citizens' economic and social lives. Population, land use, economic structure, SOC and quality of life will be affected. Some will be very positive, and some will be negative. This research project will see the future of the city and forecast the demographic, economic, physical and environmental changes of the city via computer simulation's system dynamics technique. This kind of simulation will help City of Gyeongju's what to prepare for the future. The population forecasting of the year 2046 will be 662,424 with the waste disposal site, and 327,274 without the waste disposal site in Gyeongju. The waste disposal site and regional supporting program will increase 184,246 Jobs more with 1,605 agriculture and fishery, 5,369 manufacturing shops and 27,577 shops. The population increase will bring 96,726 more houses constructed in the city. Land use will also be affected. More land will be developed. And road, water plant and waste water plant will be expanded as much. The city's financial structure will be expanded, due to the increased revenues from the waste disposal site, and property tax revenues from the middle-class employees of the company, and the high-powered scientists and technologists from the accelerator research center. All in all, the future of the city will be brighter after operating the nuclear waste disposal site inside the city.

From the influence of DIY (Do It Yourself) and the Maker Movement diverse areas in media, clothing, performing that requires physical computing. That is why the requests of teaching students about physical computing or using physical computing in education area has been increasing. Physical computing education is learning computational thinking by using programming activities, the usage of physical computing is still increasing. However, physical computing education became known recently with the lack of time to research, not only that the effectiveness in education is lacking as well. This research analysed the attitude and accomplishment from different gender of middle schoolers and high schoolers for one semester to see their ideas in programming and increase of designing algorithms.

Virtual Reality (VR) is a new technology that enables humans to communicate with a computer, It allows the user to see, hear, fuel and interact in a three-dimensional virtual world created graphically. Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT), based on this sophisticated technology, has been recently used in the treatment of subjects diagnosed with acrophobia. Acrophobia is a disorder that is characterized by marked anxiety upon exposure to heights, avoidance of heights, and a resulting impairment in functioning. Conventional virtual reality systems for the treatment of acrophobia have limitations, such as overly expensive devices or somewhat unrealistic graphic scenes. The goal of this study is to develop an inexpensive and more realistic virtual environment in which to perform an exposure therapy fur acrophobia. It runs on a personal computer, and a virtual scene ova bunge-jump tower in the middle of a large city. The virtual scenario includes an open tin surrounded by props beside a tower, which allows the patient to feel a sense of heights. The effectiveness of the VR environment was evaluated through the clinical treatment of a subject who was suffering from the fear of heights. Based on pre- and post- questionnaires and subjective comments from the subject. This virtual reality environment proved to be an effective and realistic tool fur the treatment of acrophobia.

This study examined the organization and operation of home economics curriculum of specialized middle school in the form of regular school among alternative schools and analyzed the perceptions of teachers and students about home economics class. Interviews were conducted with teachers of 6 specialized schools in order to determine the operations and teachers' perceptions of home economics education. Students' perceptions for home economics class were gathered through surveys with students from the 3 (of the original 6) schools that authorized the questionnaire survey. The final analysis utilized 205 student responses. Survey data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results of the research were as follows: First, home economics education within specialized middle schools was mostly conducted according to the form of the technology-home economics curriculum, which is the national common basic curriculum. Compared to the 7th national curriculum, the class of technology-home economics curriculum in 4 schools occurred 1 hour less each week. Each school incorporated various specialized curricula related to home economics. Second, as for the operation of home economics education in specialized schools, most home economics classes were conducted by teachers who had majored (or minored) in home economics. Moreover, all but 1 school, which used self-made materials, used the national textbook and dealt with the entire content of the textbook. For teaching-learning methods and instructional media, various means were utilized. For evaluation methods, most schools based grades on paper-and-pencil tests(50-60%) and performance tests(40-50%). Third, among teachers' perceptions of home economics education, the meaning of home economics education was focused on practical help and the pursuit of home happiness; the purpose was to realize the happiness of students and their homes by applying these to actual living, and increase students' ability to see the world. In regards to difficulties in educational operations, most pointed out poor conditions of practice rooms. As for differences from general schools, most teachers mentioned the active communication with students. Fourth, through the home economics class, it was found that students perceived the goal of technology-home economics curricula as lower than average. Among students' perceptions about home economics class, most were negative. Perceptions about goal of technology-home economics curricula and home economics class also showed meaningful differences according to each school. Students of the school, which had more home economics class hours and specialized curricula related to home economics, perceived more positively. Also, students who were more satisfied with school and learned from a teacher who majored in home economics tended to perceive home economics class more positively.
