  • Recent evolution in the open access internet technology demands that the identifying information of a user must be protected. Authentication is a prerequisite to ensure the protection of user identification. To improve Qu et al.'s scheme for remote user authentication, a recent proposal has been published by Huang et al., which presents a key agreement protocol in combination with ECC. It has been claimed that Huang et al. proposal is more robust and provides improved security. However, in the light of our experiment, it has been observed that Huang et al.'s proposal is breakable in case of user impersonation. Moreover, this paper presents an improved scheme to overcome the limitations of Huang et al.'s scheme. Security of the proposed scheme is evaluated using the well-known random oracle model. In comparison with Huang et al.'s protocol, the proposed scheme is lightweight with improved security.

  • Current PKI system will confront more dangerous elements in the wireless network. Accordingly, this study suggests a plan to strengthen authentication system plan with using access control and encryption to the location. Locational information collecting devices such as GPS and sensor are utilized to create a new key for authentication and collect locational information. Such a key encodes data and creates an authentication code for are access control. By using the method suggested by this study, it is possible to control access of a military secret from unauthorized place and to protect unauthorized user with unproposed technique. In addition, this technique enables access control by stage with utilizing the existing PKI system more wisely.

  • As security log plays important roles in various fields, the integrity of log data become more and more important. Especially, the stored log data is an immediate target of the intruder to erase his trace in the system penetrated. Several theoretical schemes to guarantee the forward secure integrity have been proposed, even though they cannot provide the integrity of the log data after the system is penetrated. Authentication tags of these methods are based on the linear-hash chain. In this case, it is difficult to run partial validation and to accelerate generating and validating authentication tags. In this paper, we propose a log authentication mechanism, based on Mekle Tree, which is easy to do partial validation and able to apply multi threading.

  • With various sensors and communications capabilities, the Internet is growing larger as the internet can communicate with the Internet. Given the growing vulnerability of the internet market, the development of security and security is increasing, and the development of the internet is actively evolving and the development of the internet is actively being carried out. In particular, it is required to introduce lightweight and secure authentication schemes, especially those that are difficult to use due to the difficulty of using authentication schemes. Thus, the safety of the secure authentication system of the Internet is becoming very important. Therefore, in this thesis, we propose certification technologies on secure objects to ensure correct, safe communication in the context of the internet context.

  • Recently, the spectrum scarcity is becoming a big issue because there are exponential growth of broadcasting and communication systems in the spectrum demand. Cognitive radio is a technology that is envisaged to solve the problems in wireless networks resulting from the limited available spectrum and the inefficiency in the spectrum usage by exploiting the existing wireless spectrum opportunistically. Kuroda et al. proposed a radio-independent authentication protocol for cognitive radio networks. This paper first shows the privacy weaknesses in the authentication protocol by Kuroda et al. and proposes a privacy aware authentication protocol to solve the weaknesses.

  • With the development of smart grid technologies, a user can use the secure and reliable power services in smart gird environments. However, the users are not secure against various potential attacks because the smart gird services are provided through the public channel. Therefore, a secure and lightweight authentication and key agreement scheme has become a very important security issue in smart grid in order to guarantee user's privacy. In 2019, Zhang et al. proposed a lightweight authentication scheme for smart gird communications. In this paper, we demonstrate that Zhang et al.'s scheme is vulnerable to impersonation and session key disclosure attacks, and then we propose a secure authentication and key agreement scheme for smart grid environments without tamper-resistant devices. Moreover, we perform the informal security and the BAN logic analysis to prove that our scheme is secure various attacks and provides secure mutual authentication, respectively. We also perform the performance analysis compared with related schemes. Therefore, the proposed scheme is efficiently applicable to practical smart gird environments.

  • The secure access the lighting, Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), fire safety, and security control boxes of building facilities is the primary objective of future smart buildings. This paper proposes an authorized user access to the electrical, lighting, fire safety, and security control boxes in the smart building, by using color grid coded optical camera communication (OCC) with face recognition Technologies. The existing CCTV subsystem can be used as the face recognition security subsystem for the proposed approach. At the same time a smart device attached camera can used as an OCC receiver of color grid code for user access authentication data sent by the control boxes to proceed authorization. This proposed approach allows increasing an authorization control reliability and highly secured authentication on accessing building facility infrastructure. The result of color grid code sequence received by the unauthorized person and his face identification allows getting good results in security and gaining effectiveness of accessing building facility infrastructure. The proposed concept uses the encoded user access authentication information through control box monitor and the smart device application which detect and decode the color grid coded informations combinations and then send user through the smart building network to building management system for authentication verification in combination with the facial features that gives a high protection level. The proposed concept is implemented on testbed model and experiment results verified for the secured user authentication in real-time.

  • It is expected that internet of things can be used for various fields such as smart home, smart building and smart city as the representative case of ICT that sensor, communication and interface technologies operate organically and the researches of the technologies regarding internet of things are being carried out in each countries worldwide. However, many problems rise against internet of things continuously in respect of security. Among them, the problem of privacy is the one that should be solved definitely regarding internet of things. If user data does not remain during the process of user authentication, such the privacy problem can be solved. In this paper, we propose the framework of user authentication based on OAuth that is suitable for the environment of internet of things that can solve privacy problem and analyze its security.

  • Compared with the existing bar code system, RFID system has lots of advantages such as it identifies automatically massive objects. We might anticipate RFID technology will be a substitution for an optical bar code system in the near future. However, their feature that uses radio waves may cause various security problems. Many kinds of solutions have been researched to overcome these security problems. In this paper, we analyze the previous proposed protocols. And then, we categorize RFID authentication into two types according to the synchronization requirement between a Back-end Database and a Tag. In addition, we introduce the previous proposed approaches to tag search problem in RFID authentication. And we propose an efficient method which provides fast tag search by using membership test algorithm, a Bloom filter.

  • Joux's tripartite key agreement protocol is one of the most prominent developments in the area of key agreement. Although certificate-based and ID-based authentication schemes have been proposed to provide authentication for Joux's protocol, no provably secure password-based one round tripartite key agreement protocol has been proposed yet. We propose a secure one round password-based tripartite key agreement protocol that builds on Joux's protocol and adapts PAK-EC scheme for password-based authentication, and present a proof of its security.
