The application of Green's function in calculation of flow characteristics around submerged and floating bodies due to a regular wave is presented. It is assumed that the fluid is homogeneous, inviscid and incompressible, the flow is irrotational and all body motions are small. Two methods based on the boundary integral equation method (BIEM) are applied to solve associated problems. The first is a low order panel method with triangular flat patches and uniform distribution of velocity potential on each panel. The second method is a high order panel method in which the kernels of the integral equations are modified to make it nonsingular and amenable to solution by the Gaussian quadrature formula. The calculations are performed on a submerged sphere and some floating spheroids of different aspect ratios. The excellent level of agreement with the analytical solutions shows that the second method is more accurate and reliable.
A method is described to obtain the first order force and second order steady force on the fixed two dimensional submerged or semisubmerged cylinders at infinite depth of water due to regular waves. The first order diffraction wave velocity potential which describes the flow diffracted by a body is obtained numerically using source distribution method on the mean wetted surface. And a technique to remove the irregular frequency phenomena of the source distribution method is also applied. The second order steady force is calculates by means of direct integration of the pressures on the body as derived from the first order velocity potential and is also computed by means of reflection wave height derives from momentum conservation theory. The results are compared with those of published works, and show good agreement.
This paper presents theoretical formulations and numerical computations for predicting first-and second-order hydrodynamic force on a ship advvancing in waves. The theoretical formulation leads to linearized radiation and diffration problems solving the three-dimensional Green function integral equations over the mean wetted body surface. Green function representing a translating and pulsating source potantial for infinite water depth is used. In order to solve integral equations for three dimentional flows using Green function efficiently, the Hoff's method is adopted for numerical calculation of the Green function. Based on the first-order solution, the mean seconder-order forces and moments are obtained by directly integrating second-order pressure over the mean wetted body surface. The calculated items are carried out for analyzing the seakeeping characteristics of Series 60. The calculated items are hydrodynamic coefficients, wave exciting forces, frequency response functions and addd resistance in waves.
The rifle impact of human body affected by the posture of human for rifling. The interaction human-rifle system influence the firing accuracy. In this paper, impact analysis of human model for shooting posture is carried out. ADAMS code and LifeMOD is used in impact analysis of human model and modeling of the human body, respectively. On the shooting, human model is affected by rifle impact during the 0.001 second. Performed simulation time for shooting is 0.1 second. Applied constraint condition to human-rifle system is rotating and spherical condition. As the results, the displacement of rifle and transfer path analysis of impact of human model is presented.
The purpose of this study was to develop wool knitted Jacket pattern suited for Middle-aged women's body shape. The usable data of first and second wearing test were coded for further statistical analysis including descriptive statistics(frequency and one way- ANOVA test, Student-Newman-Keuls Multiple Range Test) by using SPSSWIN 12.0. The results were as follows: 1. It was found that first evaluation for the appearance test on fitness, pattern B were better than the rest of them. 2. It was found that second evaluation for the test, jacket B with milano were better than the rest of them. Therefore, it should be designed as possible as considering the physical characteristics of knitted materials. 3. It was found that third evaluation for the test, it is necessary that knitted jacket follow a similar size tolerance such as a woven jacket.
The vibration of a running vehicle can be classified on lateral, longitudinal and vertical motions. The important factor on the stability and ride quality of a railway vehicle is the lateral motion. The contact between wheel and rail with conicity influences strongly on the lateral motion. In this study, an experiment for the vibration of a running railway vehicle was performed using a small scale railway vehicle model. Also, the effects on the car body, bogie and wheelset were examined for the weight and the stiffness of the first and second suspension. The experimental results showed that the lateral vibration increases as the wheel conicity and stiffness of the second suspension increase. And the lateral vibration of the bogie increases as the mass ratio between car body and bogie increases. Also, the lateral vibration of the wheel becomes high at low speed, while the wheel of 1/20 conicity makes severe vibration at high speed running.

This study examined the effects of media exposure and involvement on objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors. The subjects were 325 female university students in Daejeon and Chungnam Province. The research method was a survey, and the questionnaire was composed of media exposure and involvement, objectified body consciousness, appearance management behaviors, and subjects' demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, female university students used mass media for about 3.76 hours a day and showed a high level of media involvement. Second, three factors (body surveillance, body shame, and appearance control belief) emerged regarding objectified body consciousness with female university students showing a high level of objectified body consciousness. Third, six factors (make-up, plastic surgery, weight control, fashion, hair, and skin care) emerged regarding appearance management behaviors with female university students showing high intention to perform various appearance management behaviors. Fourth, media exposure and involvement had important effects on objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors, and media involvement was a more important variable than media exposure. Fifth, objectified body consciousness had important effects on appearance management behaviors. Body shame had more important effects on skin care, weight control, and plastic surgery behaviors, while body surveillance had more important effects on fashion, make-up, and hair management behaviors than other objectified consciousness factors. The implication of this study was that media involvement is a more important variable affecting objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors than media exposure, and among objectified body consciousness dimensions, body shame has important effects on more active appearance management behaviors like weight control and plastic surgery behaviors.
This study is to observe the meaning, aesthetic formative nature of the human body which has been not only a main issue and discussion object but also socially, culturally connected with clothing by contemplating it in the respect of the trend of art. Additionally, a work of contemplation about human body introduced to fashion design was analyzed to renew the meaning and value of the formative art inside the human body. The way and scope of this study is to contemplate the concept and meaning of human body, based on the documentary records such as art history and clothing history in the West society as a main theme. The results of the analysis were as follows: In the first place, the formative characteristics shown in the modem arts expressing the human body since 1990 which are cubism, futurism, metaphysical painting, dadaism, surrealism, pop art, happening, feminism, body art, and technology art are distortion, exaggeration and dismantling. Second, the aesthetic formative nature and meaning in the human body appear to be different according to the standard of ideal beauty of human body when we examine the expression of it from the aspect of art-history and the meaning of human body implied in it. Besides, human body is being used as a messenger which delivers the message of modem artist to other people. So the changed meaning of human body has affected the clothing and made it possible to manufacture and form new styles of clothing that have never been before. In conclusion, the human body in the modem era plays an important role as a brand-new formative medium of communication in the human society and contributes to the development which applies the aesthetic formative nature of the human body to fashion design.
Gill Deleuze is a representative of poststructuralism philosophy who has reevaluated the senses and body. This research reinterprets modern fashion and its relationship with the body based on the core idea of Deleuze's body aesthetics - Body without organs. The results of this study are as follows. First, with the influence of intensity, the body without organs will form three types of body: full body without organs, empty body without organs and cancerous body without organs. Second, modern fashion can create new physical relationships by changing the way of dressing, thus forming the full body without organs. Third, in the empty body without organs, people replace the torture of the body through the destruction of clothing; and the indiscriminate design under egalitarianism will create the cancerous body without organs which full of negative meaning. Through these results, we can have a deeper understanding of the relationship between body and clothing, and apply it to creative expression.
Meditation on Christ's body is peculiar to late medieval female mysticism. The somatic meditation on Christ basically derives from the Incarnation, but the female mystics focused more on the Passion and the Eucharist, i.e., Christ's bleeding and feeding. Then, female body structure and the gender role of nurturing were combined to make facile her imitatio Christi, because the female body was aptly identified with Christ's body. The blood flowing in the side of Christ was often in medieval graphics and texts identified with a mother's milk for a baby to suck. Wound and food, suffering and nourishing, were inseparable in Christ's and the female mystics' body. Thus, in late medieval female mystical practice, it is important to note, first, female mystics' bodily pain was not to be cured but endured; second, that not only did a female mystic eat Christ's body, but her own body was to be "eaten" by poor neighbors, just as Christ gave his own body to be eaten by believers. As Christ's body is punctured, so does the female body have open holes, and as Christ is food, so is the female body. This female meditation on Christ's body developed the notion of "divine motherhood" to be accepted and enjoyed quite literally by the female mystics in late medieval times. Yet, in a sense, the female mystics' meditating on Christ's feminine function of nourishing can be considered as their accepting and interiorizing the socially constructed female gender role and thus lacking in subversive power. Nevertheless, this meditative practice at least functioned to redeem the female body which had typically been labelled inferior and even dirty. Through Christ's feminized body, the female mystics rehabilitated their bodily dimension, presenting it to be shared by male believers. Capitalizing on the gender stereotype of womanhood itself, they converted female weakness to power.
