A study on the Survey of Actual Condition and the Design for Office Chair Using a Questionnaire Technique (설문조사 기법을 응용한 사무용 의자의 사용 실태분석 및 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The primary objectives of this research are to survey actual condition and propose the improved standard size for office chairs. In order to accomplish this objectives, questionnaire method was used. The subjects for investigation are 271 office sedentary workers from 19 office workplaces. The survey of a actual condition showed that the office chairs included many contr- oversial points which cause occupational health problems. The main causes of office sedentary worker's health problems are insufficient adjustabilities and inappropriate design specifications. Expecially, insufficient adjustabilities led harmful sitting postures. To improve the existing Korean standard size for office chairs, anthropometric procedure was developed. In this approach, six design factors were determined, that is, seat pan height, seat pan width, seat pan depth, seat pan inclination, armrest height and width. The study found that improved Korean staneard size was strikingly different from existing standard.

  • In this paper, poppet valve with cone type poppet and sharp edged seat was studied. In order to develope poppet valve which have a specification of 315(bar) and 3(lpm), effect of design parameter as valve seat diameter, poppet angle, spring stiffness and spring pre-load was evaluated. The validity of simulation was confirmed and basic data far poppet valve design was derived.

Investigation of chair design and muskuloskeletal discomfort of office workers (사무 좌식 작업자의 골격근육계 불편함 분석 및 의자 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study are twofold : (1) to investigate musculoskeletal discomfort for sedentary workers in offices ane (2) to revise the Korean Standard for the design of office chairs in order to reduce or eliminate the physical discomfort or the office workers. Two hundred seventy-one office workers from nineteen different companies companies were selected to evaluate the musculoskeletal discomfort and indibidual features of chair design. A statistical analysis of the survey rebealed that the office currently being used had two major deficiencies such as insufficient adjustability and inappropriate design specifications in ergonomic sense. A stepwise regression analysis showed that the deficiencies on the musculoskeletal discomfort of the workers. Based on the ergonomic design pronciples, was debeloped to revise the Korean Standard for the design specifications of office chairs. An application of the methodology was made amend the design specifications of the four factors such as seat pan height, seat pan width, and seat pan inclunation. Their effects were evident in the musculoskeletal discomfort of the workers.

  • In this study, integration control of air-cell seat and semi-active suspension is proposed to minimize the road-tyre force which can cause uncomfortable feeling to rider. The proposed integration control with sliding perturbation observer is consisted of air-cell seat control which uses the force generated by air-cell and the sky-hook control. The air-cell seat itself has been modeled as a 1 degree of freedom spring-damper system. The actual characteristics of the air-cell have been analyzed through experiments. In this paper, we introduces a new robust motion control algorithm using partial state feedback for a nonlinear system with modelling uncertainties and external disturbances. The major contribution of this work is the development and design of robust observer for the state and the perturbation. The combination skyhook controller and air-cell controller using the observer improves control performance, because of the robust routine called Sliding Observer Design for Integration Control of Air-Cell Seat and Semi-active Suspension. The simulation results show a high accuracy and a good performance.

Strength Analysis for PAU Seat of FPSO (FPSO 선의 PAU SEAT 강도 해석)

  • This paper presents the results of the reliability analysis of PAU (Preliminary Assembly Unit) seat of the floating Production Storage and Off1-loading Unit (FPSO) The main aim of the analysis was to demonstrate that a sufficient safety of structural members is guaranteed against PAU loads, internal and external pressure, and hull girder moments. Topside loads for PAU design are based on owner's request. According to the seat type, topside loads are classified into maximum values of same seat type for design efficiency. Totally, 26 loading cases for each model are used for this analysis with the combination of the reactions of PAU loafing and the hull girder bending moments according to LR offshore (2). The analysis results are evaluated according to the acceptance criteria for yielding given in LR offshore and guidance note (3) and The panel buckling resistance is verified by LR offshore and SDA (4). For 900,000 bbls FPSO, the PAU support foundation analysis using 3-D F.E. model is carried out to verify the structural adequacy of PAU foundation and structure members in way of PAU. The modified structures in way of PAU support are safe against considered load cases and all stresses in way of PAU support are within design criteria.

Human Body Vibration Analysis under Consideration of Seat Dynamic Characteristics (시트 동특성을 고려한 인체 진동 해석)

  • In this study, vibration properties of seat and human body are analyzed through test and numerical analysis methods by taking into account the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam as seat material which is applied for vehicle. These viscoelastic characteristics which show nonlinear and quasi-static behavior are obtained by compression test. In addition, the viscous elastic property of polyurethane foam is modelled mathematically by using convolution integral and nonlinear stiffness model. In order to analyze the performance on ride comfort of seat, vertical vibration model is established by using dynamic model of seat and vertical vibration model of human body at ISO5982, and so the related motion equations are derived. A numerical analysis simulation is applied by using the nonlinear motion equation with Runge-Kutta integral method. The dynamic responses of seat and human body on the input of vibration acceleration measured at the floor of the railway vehicle are examined. The variation of the index value at ride comfort on seat design parameters is analyzed and the methodology on seat design is suggested.

Fabrication of MCA Valve For MEMS (MEMS용 적층형 압전밸브의 제작)

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication and characteristics of a piezoelectric valve using MCA(Multilayer ceramic actuator). The MCA valve, which has the buckling effect, consists of three separate structures; MCA, a valve actuator die and an a seat die. The design of the actuator die was done by FEM modeling and displacement measurement, respectively. The valve seat die with 6 trenches was made, and the actuator die, which is driven to MCA under optimized conditions, was also fabricated. After Si-wafer direct bonding between the seat die and the actuator die, MCA was also anodic bonded to the seat/actuator die structure. PDMS sealing pad was fabricated to minimize a leak-rate. It was also bonded to seat die and SUS package. The MCA valve shows a flow rate of 9.13 sccm at a supplied voltage of 100 V with a 50 % duty cycle, maximum non-linearity was 2.24 % FS and leak rate was $3.03{\times}10^{-8}\;pa{\cdot}m^3/cm^2$. Therefore, the fabricated MCA valve is suitable for a variety of flow control equipment, a medical bio-system, automobile and air transportation industry.

Valve Seat Design for Full Contact Effect Using Grey Relational Analysis (회색 관계 분석법을 이용한 누수 방지용 밸브 시트 설계)

  • A glove valve regulates the flow in a pipeline as a kind of control valve. However, when the disc and seat contact, the valve structure can be distorted and flow can leak due to the elongation of the valve material under high pressure. The surface texture is not good enough to seal the contact surface (in practice) because the lapping process is usually done manually. Furthermore, assembly performance is analyzed by structural analysis. Compared with a standard seat, the newly designed seat had a smaller radial deformation and a larger longitudinal deformation. Therefore, the newly designed seat can maintain a tight and uniform contact with the disc with a reduced radial deformation and an expanded available seal area with an increased longitudinal deformation. The seal performance of the glove valve has been improved in a cost-effective manner.
