능동적 지진해일 생성을 고려한 지진해일 수치모형 개발 (Development of a Numerical Model Considering Active Tsunami Generation)

  • 단층파괴에 의한 해저지형변화는 공간적으로 시간차를 가진다. 특정 지점에서 파괴가 발생하면 이웃지점으로 단층파괴가 전파하면서 시간차에 따른 단층파괴가 발생하며, 단층파괴시 연직방향으로 상승하면서 지진해일을 야기한다. 해저 지형의 상승속도는 지진해일 초기파형에 영향을 주며 결과적으로 지진해일의 도달시간 및 크기에 영향을 준다. 본 연구에서는 단층파괴에 의한 해저 지형의 수평적 및 수직적 변화를 능동적 및 동적으로 고려하여 지진해일의 생성 및 전파를 모의할 수 있는 수치모형을 개발하였다. 모델의 검증을 위하여 2011년 동일본대지진에 대해 적용하였으며 기존의 수동적 및 정적 모형에 비해 정확성이 개선되는 것을 확인하였다.

  • As the exploration of the seabed is extended ever further, automated recognition and classification of sonar images become increasingly important. However, most of the methods ignore the directional information and its effect on the image textures produced. To deal with this problem, we apply 2D Gabor filters to extract the features of sonar images. The filters are designed with constrained parameters to reduce the complexity and to improve the calculation efficiency. Meanwhile, at each orientation, the optimal Gabor filter parameters will be selected with the help of bandwidth parameters based on the Fisher criterion. This method can overcome some disadvantages of the traditional approaches of extracting texture features, and improve the recognition rate effectively.

  • A side scan sonar system uses the towfish installed sonars, It is an equipment that search images of the bottom surface of the sea in real time. It is a typical equipment that is related to a sea investigation such as a geological survey, seabed communication cable and power line cable placing repair investigation, fish breeding ground investigation, sea purification, relic and mineral investigation, and mine and submarine search. It used to fined objects and investigate on the seabed surface. But, recently, it is used to sea purification and geological survey that require information of the correct surface of the seabed. So, it needs various filtering technique and image processing techniques development to acquire high resolution image. therefore, this research develops a side scan sonar using multi-beam sensors that supply various information with the fast scan speed and correct high resolution that is not a simple underwater investigation equipment.

심해저 망간단괴에서 추출되는 금속가격 예측 및 적합도 분석 (Analysis of Price Forecasting and Goodness-of-Fit of the Metals Extracted from Deep Seabed Manganese Nodules)

  • The development of deep seabed manganese nodules has been carried out with the aim of commercial development in 2023. It is important to forecast the price of the four metals (copper, nickel, cobalt, and manganese) extracted from manganese nodules because price change is a criterion for investment decision. The main purpose of the study is to forecast the price of four metals using the ARIMA model and VAR model, and calculate the MAPE to compare a goodness-of-fit between the two models. The estimated results of the two models reveal statistical significance and are in keeping with economic theory. The results of MAPE for goodness-of-fit show that the VAR model is between 0.1 and 0.2, and the ARIMA model is between 0.4 and 0.6. That is, the VAR model is better than the ARIMA model in forecasting changes in the price of metals.

확률 신경망에 의한 해저 저질의 식별 (Classifying Seafloor Sediments Using a Probabilistic Neural Network)

  • To classify seafloor sediments using a probabilistic neural network (PNN), the frequency-dependent characteristics of broadband acoustic scattering, which make it possible to qualitatively categorize seabed type, were collected from three different geographical areas in Korea. The echo data samples from three types of seafloor sediment were measured using a chirp sonar system operating over a frequency range of 20-220 kHz. The spectrum amplitudes for frequency responses of 35-75 kHz were fed into the PNN as input feature parameters. The PNN algorithm could successfully identify three seabed types: mud, mud/shell and concrete sediments. The percentage probabilities of the three seabed types being correctly classified were 86% for mud, 66% for mud/shell and 72% for concrete sediment.

  • In this research, we propose a method to extract scallop areas in seabed images in order to construct a system that can measure automatically the number, size, and state of fishery resources, especially scallops, by analyzing seabed images. Our algorithm is based on information about the hue, characteristic pattern, and the shape of scallop shells. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated through an experiment.

  • Acoustic and pressure type seabed installed wave sensors have advantage in observing long period infra-gravity wave and tsunami, while buoy type wave gauges which measure acceleration of the moored buoy motion are not able to detect long period waves. That's why most of the Japanese coastal wave observation sensors are seabed installed typed ones. Nationwide Japanese coastal wave observation systems with seabed installed sensors are gradually clarifying long-period tsunami profiles and infra-gravity wave characteristics (Nagai.et.al., 1996, 1997,2000,2002a,2002b). 해저고정 소나표적의 위치교정기법과 오차해석 (A Calibration Technique and its Error Analysis for the Position of Seabed Sonar Target)

  • This paper contains a precise calibration technique for the position of seabed acoustic target and theoretical error analysis of calibration results. The target is deployed on seabed as a standalone transponder. The purpose of target is performing accuracy test for active sonar as well as position calibration itself. For the position calibration, relative range between target and test vessel should be measured using target's transponder function. The relative range data combined with vessel position can be converted into a estimated position of target by the application of nonlinear LSE method. The error analysis of position calibration was divided into two stages. One is for relative range estimator and the other for target position estimator. Numerical simulations for position calibration showed good matching between results and developed CRLB.

  • 다공성 지반 위를 파랑이 진행함에 따라 물과 지반의 경계면에서는 파압이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 파압은 파랑의 조건과 해저 퇴적층의 조건에 따라 해저면 내에 유효음력 및 공극수압의 변화를 유발하며 이런 변화에 의해서 해저면의 안정에 여러문제가 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 다공성 탄성지반에 발생하는 공극수압과 유효응력의 문제를 해석하기 위하여 지배방정식을 유도하고 이에 적당한 경계조건을 도입하여 파랑에 의하여 지반 내에 발생하는 과잉 공극수압과 유효음력 및 파랑에 의한 액상화를 검토하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
