Nowadays, medical diagnostics is efficiently supported by clinical chemistry and near infrared spectroscopy is becoming a new dimension, which has shown high potential to provide valuable information for diagnosis. The investigation was carried out to study the influence of mammary gland inflammation, called mastitis, on cow´s milk spectra and milk composition measured by near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Milk somatic cell counts (SCC) in milk were used as a measure of mammary gland inflammation. Naturally occurred variations with milk composition within lactation and in the process of milking were included in the experimental design of this study. Time series of unhomogenized, raw milk spectral data were collected from 3 cow along morning and evening milking, for 5 consecutive months, within their second lactation. In the time of the trial, the investigated cows had periods with mammary gland inflammation. Transmittance spectra of 258 milk samples were obtained by NIRSystem 6500 spectrophotometer in 1100-2400 nm region. Calibration equations for the examined milk components were developed by PLS regression using 3 different sets of samples: samples with low somatic cell count (SCC), samples with high SCC and combined data set. The NIR calibration and prediction of individual cow´s milk fat, protein, and lactose were highly influenced by the presence of mil samples from animals with mammary gland inflammation in the data set. The best accuracy of prediction (i.e. the lower SEP and the higher correlation coefficient) for fat, protein and lactose was obtained for equations, developed when using only “healthy” samples, with low SCC. The standard error of prediction increased and correlation coefficient decreased significantly when equations for low SCC milk were used to predict examined components in “mastitis” samples with high SCC, and vice versa. Combined data set that included samples from healthy and mastitis animals could be used to build up regression models for screening. Further use of separate model for healthy samples improved milk composition measurement. Regression vectors for NIR mild protein measurement obtained for “healthy” and “mastitic” group were compared and revealed differences in 1390-1450 nm, 1500-1740 nm and 1900-2200 nm regions and thus illustrated post-secretory breakdown of milk proteins by hydrolytic enzymes that occurred with mastitis. For the first time it has been found that monitoring the spectral differences in water bands at 1440 nm and 1912 nm could provide valuable information for inflammation diagnosis.
Composition of oral microbial flora is suggested to play a role in the maintenance of oral health. Among them, Streptococcus mutans plays an essential role in the formation of dental plaque and it is being noticed as incipient infective bacteria of dental caries. The purpose of this study was to prepare the basic data about distribution of Streptococcus mutans detected from saliva by measuring colony density. It is well known that smoking as well as drinking is a factor of dental caries, however there are few investigations about distribution of Streptococcus mutans either smoking or drinking. The materials of this study were collected from students of dentistry college with general characteristics obtained by self-administered questionnaires. Students were asked to gently chew the paraffin to get saliva for 1 minute. Bacitracin disc in the culture medium was activated for 15 minutes, and then sample was incubated in the activated medium at $37^{\circ}C$ incubator for 48 hours. Streptococcus mutans colonization per 1 ml saliva was measured by the number of criteria. The severe levels of dental caries activity were significantly increased in the case of smoking (from 5.6% to 10%) or drinking (form 0% to 7%), respectively. Also, dental caries activity increased according to smoking and drinking periods longer. However, using the SPSS analytical process (Mann-Whitney's U), no significant differences were observed between the smoking and the non-smoking or the drinking and non-drinking, respectively. These results obtained from dental caries activity of saliva suggest that distribution of Streptococcus mutans following smoking or drinking can be used as a significant information for oral health.

Recently, the navigation risk is increasing significantly with growth of marine traffic volume and construction of marine facilities, water bridges, port development and marine wind farm etc. To reduce this kinds of risk, Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs enacted a new law called MSA(Maritime Safety Audit) as a comprehensive maritime traffic safety management scheme in order to ensure safety improvements from the early planning stage to post managing of the development which affect the maritime traffic environment. MSA as a tool for improving maritime traffic safety is a formal safety assessment in the existing or future ship's fairway by an independent audit team. It examines the potential hazards of maritime traffic safety, if necessary, and is to ensure the implementation of appropriate safety measures. The object of this paper is to comprehensively evaluate the achievements and implementation problems of MSA about the 2 years, to define the fundamental problems of MSA by conceptualizing and analyzing MSA limits. MSA requires further examination about the introduction of screening and scoping in order to increase the efficiency and objectivity. It will be required the measures concerning policies directions as a tool for planning process for project owner. It will lead to right understanding concerning audit scheme and used in various ways such as amendments to related law.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the necessity of occupational therapist's involvement in patient discharge planning, the areas that should be considered for discharge screening and planning, and to provide the basic data required for the development of a discharge assessment tool. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 60 occupational therapists who were working at medical institutions and had agreed to participate in the study. The questionnaire was composed of 36 questions regarding the general characteristics of the current discharge planning process and the necessity of discharge assessment and planning. Descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, and a one-way ANOVA were conducted using SPSS 20.0. As for the post-hoc test, Scheffe's test was used. Results : The awareness of occupational therapist's role in discharge planning and the necessity of a discharge assessment tool were high, but the occupational therapist's awareness of discharge-related knowledge was low. The difficulties in discharge planning showed high response rate in the absence of adequate fee-for-service in the patient interview and assessment and the lack of team approach and appropriate assessment tools for discharge planning. The high-needs areas for evaluation during discharge were fall risk and BADL, and the low-needs areas were well-being and functional level prior to onset. Conclusion : This study is expected to provide preliminary information necessary for the development of a discharge assessment tool for effective discharge planning.

Organizing entrance evaluation system for selecting students who can become expert in data science field according to need of the age and social demand is important. This study was conducted for the purpose of analyzing data science field graduate school entrance evaluation system and deriving implications after taking into account the importance of talents possessing convergence competency. For this aim, a total of 22 graduate schools in 7 countries have been selected targeting data scientist postgraduate program around the world. The selected graduate schools have been analyzed based on qualifications, necessary skills prior to entrance, entrance conditions, and selection methods. As a result of the analysis, 'graduate school which I can apply for regardless of possessing undergraduate degree or undergraduate major (63.6 percent)' in qualifications category, 'graduate school which mentioned skills required in completing master's degree prior to entrance (63.6 percent)' in skills required prior to entrance category, 'graduate school which does not mention separate entrance condition (81.8 percent)' in entrance conditions category, and 'graduate school selecting students merely based on document screening (68.2 percent)' in selection methods category took the highest portion. Based on the above, this study summarized the results of the data scientist process and suggested implications for objectifying admission evaluation.
The rationale for the use of fungi in treating waste streams from food processing plants I~as been that of incorporating the dissolved and suspending nutrients into a macroscopic organism which can be filtered out readily. In order for a process using fungi to meet these objectives we examined a strain of fungi, Aspergillus fumigatus, which grew well on a variety of polysaccharide-containing materials and showed both efficient BOD removal and high quality protein recovery. In this experiment the fungal choice was based on the laboratory screening studies where the criteria used was BOD and COD reduction, growth response, mycelial yield, and the ability to compete with the natural flora. In the fermentation system used far the continuous culture of Aspergillus fumigatus the best combination of operating variables, inoculum ratio, temperature, initial pH, fermentation time and agitation rate was 5%(v/v), $35{\sim}40^{circ}C,\;pH\;4.5{\sim}5.0$, 2days and 150rpm, respectively. The fungus reduced BOD and COD to 94.0 and 90.4%, respectively and 3.15g of dry mycelium per liter of alcohol waste was harvested during 48hr of incubation time. The protein efficiency ratios for the control diet and the experimental diet containing the fungal protein were $3.42{\pm}0.15$ and $3.40{\pm}0.43$, respectively.
A poly-(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) surface modified by the successive deposition of the polyelectrolytes, poly-(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH), poly-(diallyldimethylammoniumchloride) (PDAC), poly-(4-ammonium styrenesulfonic acid) (PSS), and poly-(acrylic acid) (PAA), was presented for the application of selective cell immobilization. It is formed via electrostatic attraction between adjacent layers of opposite charge. The modified PDMS surface was examined using static contact angle measurements and fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrophotometer. The wettability of the PDMS surface could be easily controlled and functionalized to be biocompatible through regulation of layer numbers. The modified PDMS surface provides appropriate environment for adhesion to cells, which is essential technology for cell patterning with high yield and viability in the patterning process. This method is reproducible, convenient, and rapid. It could be applied to the fabrication of biological sensing, patterning, microelectronics devices, screening system, and study of cell-surface interaction.
Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative bacterium which causes chronic gastritis and is associated with gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer and gastric carcinoma. In the process of screening of antibacterial activities against H. pylori from soil microorganisms, fungus No. 60686 was isolated. After fermentation of No.60686, the antibacterial compound was isolated, purified and followed by extraction of mycelium with organic solvents, acetone and ethyl acetate, through silica gel chromatography, LH-20 gel chromatography and HPLC. As a result of the structural analyses of the compound by IR, $^1$H- and $^{13}$C-NMR, FAB/Mass spectrophotometer, the compound having the antimicrobial activity was identified as chaetoglobosin A ($C_{32}H_{36}N_2O_5$), a cytochalasan derivative. The antimicrobial activity of chaetoglobosin A was tested against Gram-positive and negative bacteria by paper disk method. Among the test strains of 9 Gram-positive bacteria and 18 Gram-negative bacteria containing 4 H. pylori strains, the growth of 4 H. pylori strains and 3 S. aureus strains (SG 511, 285 and 503) was only inhibited by chaetoglobosin A. Also it was shown that its growth inhibition against H. pylori strains was stronger than that against S. aureus strains at the treatment of the same concentration. Therefore it was concluded that chaetoglobosin A has a specific growth inhibition against H. pylori of the tested bacteria.
The purpose of this study is to understand the campus life of engineering transfer students, to devise a means for increasing their participation in the ABEEK, and to assist them to have the satisfactory campus lives through researching the satisfaction level and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. We conducted a survey targeting 193 engineering transfer students of K university and D university. The study shows that most transfer students were accepted into college through a general screening process, their grades are likely to be lower than those of the previous college, however, they tend to be satisfactory with the current campus life, and the rate of participation in the ABEEK is low. Therefore university officials need to work hard to raise the rate of the participation in the ABEEK track and the campus life adaptation of transfer students. Moreover, the male transfer students tend to be more satisfactory than the female students, and students with higher grades in the previous college are likely to show higher adaptation than those with lower grades. Therefore we should make effort to increase the satisfaction of transfer students and need to accommodate the programs for the female transfer students more positively.

In this study, the SELEX method was used to screen for and select aptamers with high selectivity and affinity for Streptococcus mutans, which is the causative agent of dental caries. Aptamers are single stranded oligonucleotides of DNA or RNA with high selectivity and affinity for target molecules because of their specific three-dimensional structures that are used to collect biometric information. When compared to antibodies in vitro, aptamers are more advantageous because of their ease of use in the screening process, low cost, chemical stability, and lack of restrictions on the target molecules. We sorted DNA aptamers, which contain 44 bp or 38 bp primer sequences in 5' and 3', 39 bp random sequences in the middle.We then analyzed the character and affinity to S. mutans. Aptamers of specific oligonucleotides that combine with S. mutans were selected and these results are selectively fused to S. mutans. The results confirmed that DNA aptamers can be used for rapid diagnosis and treatment of dental caries caused by bacteria of the oral cavity, namely S. mutans.
