Many elementary school students have misconception related to dissolution and solution. Moreover, they usually fail to apply the results of the experiments in their science classes to their everyday life, and also have low science achievement. Therefore, they are not interested in science, and sometimes some of them are even afraid of it. The purposes of this study is to investigate the effects of concept mapping activity on science achievement and attitude. In addition, this study also aims at presenting the teaching and learning method of utilizing concept maps in order to have the students form correct concepts. The subjects were classified into two groups one group is composed of thirty-seven students (experimental group) who were participated in concept mapping activity, and the other is composed of thirty-eight students (comparison group) who were participated in the traditional teaching method. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, the concept mapping activity has a positive effect on improving students' science achievement. Second, the classes using concept maps have a good influence on forming students' science attitude. Third, the concept mapping activity is more effective in improving science achievement of mid and low level students. In conclusion, the loaming by concept mapping activity positively influence students' science achievement and attitude. Particularly for the students in mid and high levels, the effect is more remarkable.
The purpose of this study to survey radiation workers' knowledge, attitude and behavior related to radiation safety management at medical institutions as an educational approach to radiation safety management and to accumulate materials in continuity of past data and, by doing so, to examine changes over time, to analyze long-term trends systematically and to derive ground data for establishing radiation safety control plans to prevent health disorders caused by radiation not only in radiation workers but also in ordinary people. For these purposes, a questionnaire survey was conducted with radiation workers at medical institutions throughout the country for around 40 days in 2001 and 2006. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The levels of knowledge, attitude and behavior related to radiation safety management were all higher in 2006 than in 2001. 2. Statistically significant correlations were observed between knowledge and attitude, between behavior and knowledge and between attitude and behavior in both 2001 and 2006. In particular, the correlation between attitude and behavior were higher in 2006 than in 2001, suggesting that radiation workers' attitude has been improved. 3. Factors affecting radiation workers' behavior related to radiation safety management were knowledge and attitude in both 2001 and 2006, and the effect of attitude was higher than that of knowledge.
The purposes of this study were to estimate the effect of related factors such as cultural values and individual characteristics to consumer attitude, and furthermore to estimate the effect of consumer attitude and related factors such as price perception and individual characteristics to consumption behavior(expenditure) of food away from home. To do this, the data was collected from college students and a 2 step approach by using LIMDEP program was applied to estimate the structural equation model. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Consumer attitude toward food away from home was found to be significantly influenced by some cultural values such as health, sensibility, socially responsible consumption and religion, and individual characteristics such as sex and pocket money. If they perceived more positively about the value of health, sensibility and religion, they would be likely to have more positive attitude, while they perceived more negatively about the value of socially responsible consumption, they would be likely to have more negative attitude. In addition, if they were females and had much more pocket money, they would be more likely to have more positive attitude. 2) Expenditure of food away from home was found to be significantly influenced by age and pocket money, while consumer attitude did not have a significant impact on expenditure of food away from home at the second stage in the structural equation model. It might imply that consumption behavior of food away from home for college students would be more constrained by individual characteristics such as sex and economic capital.
Purpose: The study was to identify the relationships between levels of knowledge, attitude and preventive health behavior about cancer in university students. Methods: The data were analyzed with the SPSS/Win 18.0 program. The participants of this study were 200 university students. Three kinds of instruments were used for this study, questionnaires about cancer-related knowledge, attitude and preventive health behavior from Suh et al. (1998). Results: The mean score for knowledge about cancer was $14.33{\pm}5.32$, the mean score of attitude toward cancer was $31.76{\pm}3.75$ and the mean score of preventive behavior for cancer was $57.20{\pm}8.48$. There was slightly positive correlation between knowledge of cancer and attitude toward cancer. There was positive correlation between the attitude toward cancer and preventive health behavior for cancer. Conclusion: It is necessary to consider the related factors for the development and implementation of systematic education programs that can encourage and promote preventive health behavior for cancer among university students.
The purpose of this study was to apply After-school programs related to sub-chapter 'The Change of Weather', and thereby to investigate the effect of After-school program on science-related attitude and learning achievement of students, and interaction between treatment methods and students' learning ability. The subjects of study consisted of 2nd grade students of sixty four students in high school. Sixty four students were divided into two categories by experimental and control groups on the basis of midterm examination before teaching treatment. The experimental groups have received four After-school programs including making models of a weather front, measurement of wind, measurement of temperature and the dew point, making a three-dimensional weather chart which were developed by researcher for six times. The control groups have received the instruction through the conventional teaching methods. Seventy questions within seven frameworks of TOSRA have been used in this study as an evaluation instrument of science-related attitude. Learning achievement has been evaluated using an instrument developed by researcher. The scores of both pre-test and post-test were estimated by ANCOVA. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. (1) After-school programs were more effective in progressing the three categories of science related attitude of high school students i.e. pleasure of science class(p<.05), reception of scientific attitude(p<.01), attitude about a science research(p<.05) than conventional teaching methods. (2) Experimental groups showed statistically significant improvement on learning achievement than control groups(p<.05). (3) The effect of treatment methods on students' learning ability has been improved in experimental groups more positively than control groups(p<.05). High level students in experimental groups showed significant improvement on learning achievement than low level students according to the representing profile plot. But there were no significant interaction between treatment methods and students' learning ability(p>.05) In conclusion, the After-school programs have positive effect on the improvement of science related attitude and learning achievement.

Purpose: This research studied the nurses' knowledge and attitude about pain management. Method: The research subjects were 465 nurses working at three university hospitals in Seoul and at one university hospital in Kyunggi-do. The survey results were collected between October 13 and 21 in 2004. Result: The overall mean score of correct answers on knowledge about pain management was 73.34, general knowledge 71.08, and cancer pain control was 93.93. Similarly, the mean score of correct answers on knowledge about the classification of analgesics was 75.89, while the knowledge of their use was only 52.48. The overall characteristics related to the degree of the nurses' knowledge about pain management were their educational background and their experiences of pain education. In a similar view, the overall characteristics related to the knowledge about the classification of analgesics were age and religion. Likewise, the use of analgesics was related to field of service and the experience of pain education. Finally, the overall characteristics related to the nurse's attitude toward pain management were their field of service and their position. Conclusion: The results of this study could be useful to institutions involved in the education and application of patient pain management.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate recognition, dietary attitude and education needs for reducing sodium intakes of dietitian at customized home visiting health service (CHVHS). Methods: The subjects were 75 dietitian at CHVHS. We investigated several variables (recognition, dietary attitude, education needs for reducing sodium intakes) and determined sodium intakes level of subjects as 'low', 'middle' and 'high' by Dish Frequency Questionnaire 25 (DFQ 25). Also, we assessed the differences in recognition, dietary attitude, sodium intake level and education needs by dietitian career period (under 3 yrs vs. over 3 yrs) at CHVHS. Results: In recognition related reducing sodium intake, they showed 'checking a sodium content in nutrition labeling' score 2.5/4.0 and 'perception difference between sodium and salt' score 3.1/4.0. There was no difference in the recognition between under 3yrs' group and over 3yrs' group. In dietary attitude related reducing sodium intake, they showed 'palatability for salty taste' score 0.8/1.0, 'attitude in related soups' 0.7/1.0, 'attitude in related using natural spice' 0.6/1.0. There was a difference in 'attitude in related soups' between under 3yrs' group and over 3yrs' group (0.6 vs. 0.7). In sodium intake level by DFQ 25, they showed 'low group' 41.3%, 'middle group' 41.3% and 'high group' 17.3%. There was no difference in the distribution of sodium intake level by the career. In education needs related reducing sodium intakes, there were 'teaching experience' 93.3%, 'have a difficulty in teaching about reducing sodium intakes' 86.6%, and 'necessity of education for CHVHS dietitians' 100.0%. 'Needed education contents for CHVHS dietitians' were ranked as 'cooking way to reduce sodium intake' 58.7%, 'relation between hypertension and sodium' 17.3%, 'composing way to reduce sodium intake' 17.3%. There was a difference in needed education contents 'relationship between hypertension and sodium' (33.3% vs. 2.6%) and 'The cooking way to reduce sodium intake' (38.9% vs. 76.9%) by the career. Conclusions: The results suggested that a capacity training program for reducing sodium intake may be needed for dietitians at CHVHS to improve health of the community elderly. For effective training program related reducing sodium intake for dietitians at CHVHS, it may be necessary to consider the career period as dietitians at CHVHS.
The purpose of this study was to explore effects of 4MAT system program on the creativity, science achievement and science-related attitudesof elementary school students. 4MAT learning program is a model based on the whole brain learning including the learning styles and the cognitive specialization of left and right hemispheres. The study was conducted for 10 weeks during the 1998 second semester in H elementary school which is located in Incheon. 4MAT learning program was applied to the 5th and 6th grade students. One hundred 5th grade students and eighty three 6th grade students are selected for this study. The experimental group was taught in applying the 4MAT system, and the control group was taught by the traditional manner. The results of this study were as follows: There was a significant difference on creativity between the instruction by applying 4MAT system and the traditional instruction. In the 6th grade, there was a statistically significant difference on science achievement and science-related attitude. In the 5th grade, there was slightly increased, but statistically onsignificant. In conclusion, the instruction by applying 4MAT system was more effective in developing student's creativity than the traditional instruction in both grades.

The current study examines whether the dementia experience and social support is associated with dementia attitude and whether health literacy moderates the relationship between these variables. We used data from the 2016 Dementia Literacy Survey collected by K University. We conducted our analysis with 522 community-dwelling older Koreans aged 60 to 79. Findings of the multivariate regression analyses showed belows. First, dementia experience and dementia attitude were related in cognitive and behavioral aspects. Second, social support was also related negatively with dementia attitude in cognitive part. However, social support was also related positively with dementia attitude in behavior part. Third, health literacy was positively related with dementia attitude in cognitive part. However, health literacy was negatively related with dementia attitude in behavior part. Lastly, health literacy had significant moderating effects with social support and dementia attitude in cognitive part. Our findings suggest that health literacy plays an important role in fostering a positive dementia attitude.

Understanding the surrounding plants (SP) by the high school students was compared with their abilities of intelligence (SI) and attitude (SA) in science education. 276 students attending 11 grade high school in the city of Incheon selected for this work were tested for SP and their abilities of SI and SA. The rates of SP were observed to be not related to the personal properties of student but to the abilities of total or science achievement scores made throughout school life. The abilities of SP were, by linear regression, calculated to be dependent upon the some components or variables of SI or of SA. Particularly, the abilities of SP were closely related to the abilities of picture matrix and vocabulary, but not to those of scientific logics among variables of SI. Also, the abilities of SP were calculated to be positively related those of scientific attitude, but negatively to science anxiety in SA. As based on this work, the SP was strongly suggested to be helpful for students 'intelligences or for students' learning in their life.
