The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationships among different variables related to school adjustment. 601 elementary school students residing in Pohang-City in Korea completed questionnaires about school adjustment, internal problem behavior, external problem behavior, family adaptability and family cohesion. A variance-covariance matrix of this sample was analyzed using AMOS 19.0, and the maximum likelihood minimization function. The goodness of fit was evaluated via SRMR, RMSEA with a 90% confidence interval, CFI, and TLI. The results were as follows: First, family adaptability, family cohesion, internal problem behavior and external problem behavior were all found to have a significant direct effect how the children adjusted to their school. Second, family adaptability, and family cohesion had a direct effect on internal problem behavior. Third, family cohesion had a direct effect on external problem behavior, but family adaptability had a substantial indirect effect on the children's external problem behavior that was mediated by their internal problem behavior. Fourth, internal problem behavior had a direct effect on external problem behavior.
The purpose of this study was to examine the children's adjustment according to the their problems and problem solving pattern in single mother. The data of this study were abtained from 186 children of single-mother. For analysis of data, Factor analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, pearson's correlation, Multiple regression were used The results are as follows; 1. The children's problem are composed seven factors that are house life, emotion, school life, peer-relationships, academic achievement, finicial, future life. The family structural variables to have relationship with the children's problem are age, sex, father's absence reason, SES, mother postering attitude. 2. The mean value of children's problem solving pattern such as seeking religion support and passive appraisal was highest. The children's problem solving pattern were affected by mother's fostering attitude. 3. The inadequacy among children in single-mother was related to mother fostering attitude after father's loss, children's problem and children's problem solving pattern that emphasizes the interdependence of each element in this children's adjustment network.
This study was to examine the effects of teacher's encouraging language on elementary student's adjustment to school life. To achieve this purpose, teacher's encouraging language were drawn from Adlerian literatures and ten principles of encouragement were established as the following: recognizing the student's values and potentials, putting an emphasis on student's positive sides, helping the student realize his or her own strength, tolerating student's mistakes, using perceptual alternatives, practicing self-encouragement, accepting and supporting opponents, stimulating internal motivations, and emphasizing social usefulness. Subjects were 34 1st graders at J elementary school in CheonNam. 17 subjects were assigned to experiment group and 17 subjects were assigned to control group. Teacher's encouraging language were applied to experiment group and teacher's usual languages were provided to control group for ten weeks. The quantitative data were collected through Elementary school adjustment behavior rating scale(Oh, 2009) and were analysed via ANCOVA. The qualitative data were collected through observations and products of the subjects and were analysed via qualitative methods. The results showed that teacher's encouraging language had a positive effect on the student's adjustment to school life.
The purpose of this study was first to investigate the positive-and the negative function of friendship perceived by adolescents second to examine the difference of these two function s by adolescents' gender and grade and third to evaluate adolescents' adjustment to school according to the positive-and the negative function of friendship. For these purposes and empirical survey data was gathered from 988 junior higher- and high school students in Inchon city. Three factors of the positive function and three other factors of the negative function of friendship were constructed as results of factor analyses. There six factors were correlated one another and were significantly different by adolescents' gender and grade. Lastly adolescents' adjustment to school was significantly different by the positive function of friendship.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment of nursing students. The role of self-esteem and gender in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment were also examined. A descriptive correlational design was adopted and the convenience sample consisted of 188 undergraduate nursing students in D city. It was found that appearance satisfaction affected directly and indirectly through self-esteem on school adjustment. The results indicated that self-esteem had partial mediation effects in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment. Moderation effect of gender was found only in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem. This meant that women were affected more than men according to the level of appearance satisfaction. The results suggested that the intervention program to support nursing students to accept themselves more positively and to enhance their self-esteem will be effective to help nursing students adjust themselves more to school life. It was also indicated in this study that specialized intervention programs are needed for women.
This study investigated the relationships between inter-cultural experience and socio-psychological adjustment to the current life among children who have refilmed from living abroad. The subject of research consisted of 102 boys and 110 girls from fourth grade through sixth grade who returned to their home country after living in a foreign correlation Data were collected from 5 elementary schools in Seoul. Descriptive statistics, t-tests, correlation analysis and regression were used for data analysis. The results of children's social-psychological adjustment were represented by 3 categories: school/friend relationship, stress/strain and language/learning. The following are the summarized results; First, girl students were more likely to adapt to school/friend relationships in Korea and had lower stress/strain than boys. Second, the children having shorter period of residence in foreign county, lower adaptation ability to different culture and extrovert personality showed higher socio-psychological adjustments after returning to Korea. Third, the adjustment to school/friends was influenced by period of residency in the foreign county, the experience of different culture, and extrovert personality. The experience of different culture and extrovert personality effected stress/strain, and the adjustments to language/learning were influenced only by the ewperiecne of different culture. Lastly, the experience of different culture was the most important variable influencing all 3 categories of socio-psychological adjustments.

Purpose: This study was done to investigate the relationship between self esteem, stress, depression and school adjustment among adolescents who were victims of bullying and those who were not. Methods: The questionnaire included the Peer Victimization Scale (Callaghan & Joseph, 1995), Self-esteem Scale, (Rosenberg, 1965), Daily Hassles Questionnaire (Feiner, Ginter & Primavera, 1982) and Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression (Radloff, 1977). Data from 738 questionnaires were analyzed using frequencies, means, ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test and logistic regression analysis with SPSS 14.0. Results: Victims of bullying accounted for 19.8% of the students. Significant differences were found for grade, school record, family living together, satisfaction with parents and satisfaction with friends between students who were victims of bullying and those who were not. Self esteem and school adjustment for the victims of bullying were lower than for those in the non-victim group, and stress and depression were higher. The logistic regression analysis revealed that school record, family living together, satisfaction with friends, self esteem, friend related stress, family related stress and depression were significantly associated with being a victim of bullying. Conclusion: The result of this study offer basic data for the development of intervention programs to prevent students becoming victims of bullying.

Many adolescents in high schools are experiencing school maladjustment by academic stress under the reality of higher-education-oriented schooling. A review of studies of academic stress and school adjustment reveals that ego-optimism is predicted as one of the moderating variables to help adolescents lessen academic stress and increase their school adjustment. The main purpose of this study was to verify the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment of adolescents. For this, 496 high school students of tenth and eleventh grade were respectively collected through cluster sampling to be surveyed, and then correlation analysis and moderated regression analysis were conducted. The major findings were as follows. First, there was a negative relationship between academic stress and school adjustment and between academic stress and ego-resilience, but a positive relationship between school adjustment and ego-resilience. Second, the moderating effects of ego-resilience on the relationship between academic stress and school adjustment were not found, although optimism, one of ego-resilience's sub-factors, had a significant moderating effect on them, implying that adolescents' optimism should be enhanced to lessen academic stress and ensure they have a successful school life. The study concludes that optimism is a protective factor for school adjustment caused academic stress and thus schools need to make active efforts to enhance their students' optimism.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the parents' rearing attitude perceived by high school students and students' covert narcissism on the adjustment of high school students. For that, research data are collected from 580 high school students in Busan. 524 students' data are analyzed through SPSS Ver. 21.0 to examine correlations and influences of parents rearing attitude, students' covert narcissism and adjustment ability to schools. The results obtained in this study are as follows: First, the finding shows that the adjustment of high school students has a significant static corelation with parents' rearing attitude which is perceived by students. Second, affective attitude of parents' rearing attitude, has the strongest influence on students compliance in school. In addition, goal-oriented and rational attitude of parents has an impact on students' scholastic aptitude and academic achievement. Third, students' goal-instability of life which is one element of students' covert narcissism has negative effect on overall students' school life. Thus, these results suggest that for a better adjustment of high school students, various parent education training and development of programs that can help students set up goals are needed. It also highlights the importance of counseling.
