The middle school students 118 were divided into intervention group (59) and control group (59) subjects evaluated the dental plaque score using $Qraycam^{TM}$ after oral health education at baseline. Then, the $Qraycam^{TM}$ images view only sent to students and parents of the intervention group by text message. After 4 weeks both intervention group and control group were evaluated dental plaque by $Qraycam^{TM}$ re-taking. Then, they filled out the questionnaire. Both ${\Delta}R$ value and SPS(Simple Plaque Score) were statistically significant reduced in groups performed feedback(p<0.001). The oral health behavior, toothbrushing of intervention group was significantly higher compared to the control group(p<0.001). Also the importance of oral health was significantly higher in the intervention group compared to the control group(p<0.001). The effect of dental plaque reducing, toothbrushing time and subjective oral health importance were higher in the intervention group who received feedback using $Qraycam^{TM}$ image. Therefore it was expected to be able to utilize $Qraycam^{TM}$ image as a visual feedback tool of oral health education.

Using the original data of the second phase of the 6th National Health and Nutrition Survey, the final 4381 adults were extracted. We analyzed frequency and technical statistics and chi - square test and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS statistical program to confirm the association between body mass index, number of brushing, drinking, smoking and oral health status and behavior. As a result, the prevalence of periodontal disease decreased as the number of toothbrushing increased, and the prevalence of periodontal disease increased as the body mass index increased. Through this study, obesity, a global health issue, should be more concerned with oral care and develop oral health management programs.

  • This study aims to analyze the relevance between oral health practices and oral discomforts of the elderly in an urban-rural area by surveying the elderly in welfare centers for the Elderly-continued oral health care program. The result shows that the elderly brush their teeth under regular oral care, and practice oral health life by scaling for the prevention of periodontal disease. Most of the elderly who drink alcohol have experienced implant care and tend to quit drinking after the treatment, and seemed to get their oral discomfort relieved. However, no relevance is found between implant experiences and social discomfort. Furthermore, the elderly who had bad breath expressed pronunciation, taste, pain and chewing discomfort, and social discomfort (P>.05). The educational level of the elderly did not have an impact on oral discomfort, but smoking, chewing and bad breath discomfort seemed to be related to social discomfort(P>.05). Therefore, since oral discomfort of the elderly causes social discomfort which decreases their quality of living, we recommend oral health departments of local governments to help the elderly maintain happy lives by continuing to study the practical use of reducing oral discomfort.

  • The study was to expand the choice of electric toothbrush by number of operations of the plaque removal effect on the tooth surface. Three different toothbrushes were selected for oscillations and pulsations type of electric toothbrush. A is Oral-B D12 (7,600 pulsations), B is Oral-B D16 (20,000 oscillations and a 7,600 pulsations), C is Oral-B D20 (40,000 oscillations and an 8,800 pulsations). In each trial, each tooth was brushed for 2 seconds. For the 10 trials. And each tooth was coated with 1layer, 2layers and 3layers. After the experiment, the plaque removal effect was calculated and analzed using the Image J program(p<0.05). According to the study, C toothbrush had the highest rate of plaque removal effect. Based on this results of the study, dental worker will need to evaluate oral hygiene and recommend appropriate toothbrushes according to oral conditions.
