The purpose of this study was to examine the difference in perception among parents of preschoolers, parents of school aged children, teachers of child care centers and elementary school teachers regarding testing on the level of preparation for attending elementary school. Firstly, the results of the study revealed that elementary school teachers had notions regarding the level of preparation for entering school that were more specific than day care teachers and parents. Second, it was shown that effort and a sense of responsibility were most important for the improvement of the level of preparation for elementary school level studies. Third, the results of this study revealed that many respondents thought that there needs to be some form of testing of the level of preparation for school and the respondents further stated that this testing needed to be conducted by child care center teachers or experts in the field. Finally, it was shown that such a test of the level of preparation for school attendance should be developed by including questions on different areas of the intelligence, adaptability, function, tendencies and regulations in relation to the needs of preschoolers.

The participants were 550 first graders in three middle schools in Incheon Metropolitan City and Kyung-gi Province. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, adolescents' school adjustment had significant effects on depression. The lower the level of school adjustment was, the higher the level of depression was. Second, parental support, parental monitoring, and peer support had moderating effects on the relationship between school adjustment and depression. Parental support decreased the depression of adolescents who were at a lower level of adjustment to peer relationship or school class. Parental monitoring decreased the depression of adolescents who were at a lower level of adjustment to school adjustment. On the contrary, parental monitoring increased the depression of adolescents who were at a higher level of adjustment to school adjustment. Peer support decreased the depression of adolescents who were at a lower level of adjustment to school class.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the perception level about food safety of school foodservice dietitians and employees and to assess their food hygiene practice level in school foodservice operation in Chungbuk Province. A questionnaire survey of 250 dietitians and 744 employees at school food service operations was conducted and 143 and 421 respective responses were available for this study. The collected data were analyzed using SAS V8.2 for windows. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows: 98.60% of respondent school foodservice dietitians operated sanitation training programs one time or more per month. As for the reason why the program was not performed at frequent intervals, the majority of the dietitians and employees attributed it to the conventional practices. The employees' perception level of importance about sanitary training program was marked at 4.31(out of 5 scale). The employees' performance level of sanitary training program was ranked above 4.0 point(out of 5 scale) in the 26 items out of the total of 29 items. The results indicated that there was positive correlation between perception level and performance level of sanitation training program. The findings suggest that continuing sanitary education is important to ensuring food safety at school foodservice operations.
This study examined the mediating effect of self-concept on the relationship of peer victimization and social anxiety in middle school students. Study participants consisted of 235 (122 boys and 113 girls) first to third graders from three middle schools located in Seoul and Gyung-gi province. The School Violence Experience Scale and the Self-Concept Scale were used to measure research variables in the Korean version of Social Anxiety Scale for adolescents. Descriptive statistics and Pearson's correlation coefficients were calculated to examine the general tendency of study variables. In addition, structural equation modeling(SEM) was used to examine the mediating model. The study results were as follows. First, the level of peer victimization of the middle school students decreased the self-concept level; in addition, the self-concept level had a significant negative effect on the social anxiety level. Second, the self-concept level fully mediated the peer victimization and social anxiety relationship. In conclusion, a higher peer victimization level resulted in a lower self-concept level, that produced a higher social anxiety level in middle school students. The results suggested that implementing effective interventions to prevent peer victimization and encouraging a positive self-concept in middle school students would make a significant contribution to reducing social anxiety.

The subjects were 270 first-grade middle school students and 258 first-grade high school students in Ansan. The data were analyzed by S.A.S. Program Package, the statistical methods of Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard deviation, T-test, One-way Anova, DMR(Duncan’s Multiple Range Test) The results of this study were as followed:1) The general tendency of adolescents’level of stress, and coping behavior of stress were that high school students experienced more stress than middle school students and both experienced more stress in school life than in family life. 2) According to personal variable, there were differences in the grade and scholarly attainment in the low-level stress group. Purposes of this study were 1) to identify the level of role expectation and role performance for school health educators as elementary school students recognize and to compare them, and 2) to examine differences in the role expectation and performance by characteristics of students and educators. Subjects of the study were 1,433 6th grade students at 37 elementary schools in Busan. The data were collected by a structured self-administered questionnaire, measuring role expectation and performance that students recognize. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA by SPSS program. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Students' level of recognizing the role expectation was high(M=4.08) and level of the role performance was moderate to high(M=3.50) within range of 1 to 5. The students recognized role expectation greater than role performance. 2. The students' point of view for role expectation and performance for school health educators were related to several characteristics of students and school health educators. Students' levels of recognizing the role expectation and performance were higher when students were male, healthy, their academic performance was high, their level of satisfaction with their school life was high, and their level of satisfaction with using school health office was high. With characteristics of School health educators, students' level of appreciating the role expectation was higher when educators were of an older age and had a long career, and when they were fairly satisfied with their job as an educator. Students' level of recognizing the role performance was higher when educators were of a younger age, and had a small number of students at school. This indicates that there exists role conflict on students and implies that the conflict needs to be mediated, and desirable solutions to address the conflict need to be developed by school health educators.

The subjects were 356 children in the 6th grade selected from six elementary schools in Seoul and Keunggi-Do. The subjects were asked to complete the questionnaire on ego-identity and perceived parental behaviors. The data was analyzed by Mean, SD, Cronbach's α, Pearson's correlation and Multiple Regression. The major findings were as follows : 1. The level of income(antecedent variable) was significantly related with perceived parental behavior(mediator) and ego-identity of school-aged children(dependent variable). 2. The effects of level of income on ego-identity of school-aged children became lower after control of the effects of perceived parental behaviors. In other words, perceived parental behaviors partially mediated the effects of level of income on ego-identity of school-aged children.
School dietitians are divided into two groups according to their status of employment, school nutrition teachers and dietitians, with the latter being irregularly employed by the institution. In this study, the job satisfaction, communication ability, work performance and importance in feeding services and dietetic counseling of both groups were compared. To accomplish this, 100 regularly employed school nutrition teachers (regularly employed) and 101 dietitians (irregularly employed) were surveyed by questionnaire. The results were as follows: (1) The irregularly employed dietitians showed a lower level of job satisfaction than the school nutrition teachers. This was likely because the school nutrition teachers belonged to the strong inner circle of school teachers and cafeteria workers, and had enough time to prepare for class lectures and consultancy. Conversely, the irregularly employed dietitians generally handle extra office work in addition to their primary duties. Despite these differences, both parties agreed that it was necessary to change the work system. Additionally, school dietitians reported that they had little opportunity for further training for career development. (2) Both parties had good communication skills; however, the irregularly employed dietitians had more conflicts with other staff members than the regular employees. (3) Job performance and job importance level was compared among employees involved in school feeding services and nutrition counseling. No significant differences were observed between dietitians and nutrition teachers in either group (p<0.05). However, the school nutrition teachers showed better skills than school dietitian with respect to public relations, running independent counseling offices, and using effective tools and materials. Job performance level was lower when compared to job importance level for all items, which meant the job was not well performed when compared to the work importance awareness.
