Handoff is a critical issue for seamless roaming in IEEE 802.11-based wireless networks. In order to provide real-time services, handoff mechanism must be provided. However, the IEEE 802.11 standard handoff is not appropriate to provide the services, because it is based on the full-scanning approach which spends too much time searching Access Point (AP). In this paper, we propose a new scheme, which can reduce the scanning latency. A station performs full-scanning operation for finding APs when it enters wireless networks for the first time. The station sends the scanned channel information to AP. AP maintains the neighbor channel table based on the information received from stations. A station performs the partial-scanning by using the table. Therefore, the proposed scheme can reduce the scanning latency.

CanSat Competition has been annually held in South Korea since 2012 to give students an opportunity for better understanding of system design and operation processes of satellite. SCSky CanSat(Smart Call from the Sky Can Satellite) proposed in this study is a name of CanSat that was participated in 2016 CanSat competition. Its main mission objective is to obtain flight imaging data of inside and outside the CanSat through the video call using on-board smart phone in the CanSat. To implement this mission, we developed a remote touch system using SMA(Shape Memory Alloy) wire. In addition, a wide scan camera mechanism using SMA spring was developed to obtain ground imaging data during the mission. This study introduced the mission of the SCSky CanSat, as well as the description of on-board payloads, system design results, and flight test results.
IEEE 802.15.4[1] has been standardized for the physical layer and MAC layer of LR-PANs(Low Rate-Wireless Personal Area Networks) as a technology for operations with low power on sensor networks. The standardization is applied to the variety of applications in the shortrange wireless communication with limited output and performance, for example wireless sensor or virtual wire, but it includes vulnerabilities for various attacks because of the lack of security researches. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerabilities against the denial of sleep attacks on the MAC layer of IEEE 802.15.4, and propose a detection mechanism against it. In results, we analyzed the possibilities of denial of sleep attacks by the modification of superframe, the modification of CW(Contention Window), the process of channel scan or PAN association, and so on. Moreover, we comprehended that some of these attacks can mount even though the standardized security services such as encryption or authentication are performed. In addition to, we model for denial of sleep attacks by Beacon/Association Request messages, and propose a detection mechanism against them. This detection mechanism utilizes the management table consisting of the interval and node ID of request messages, and signal strength. In simulation results, we can show the effect of attacks, the detection possibility and performance superiorities of proposed mechanism.

Objective : Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory rheumatic disease mainly affecting the axial skeleton. The rigid spine may secondarily develop osteoporosis, further increasing the risk of spinal fracture. In this study, we reviewed fractures in patients with ankylosing spondylitis that had been clinically diagnosed to better define the mechanism of injury, associated neurological deficit, predisposing factors, and management strategies. Methods : Between January 2003 and December 2013, 12 patients with 13 fractures with neurological complications were treated. Neuroimaging evaluation was obtained in all patients by using plain radiography, CT scan, and MR imaging. The ASIA Impairment Scale was used in order to evaluate the neurologic status of the patients. Management was based on the presence or absence of spinal instability. Results : A total of 9 cervical and 4 thoracolumbar fractures were identified in a review of patients in whom ankylosing spondylitis had been diagnosed. Of these, 7 fractures were associated with a hyperextension mechanism. 10 cases resulted in a fracture by minor trauma. Posttraumatic neurological deficits were demonstrated in 11 cases and neurological improvement after surgery was observed in 5 of these cases. Conclusions : Patients with ankylosing spondylitis are highly susceptible to spinal fracture and spinal cord injury even after only mild trauma. Initial CT or MR imaging of the whole spine is recommended even if the patient's symptoms are mild. The patient should also have early surgical stabilization to correct spinal deformity and avoid worsening of the patient's neurological status.
To investigate the XIST gene expression and its effect in a Klinefelter's patient, we used Klinefelter's syndrome (XXY) patient with azoospermia and also used a normal male (XY) and a normal female (XX) as the control, We were performed cytogenetic analysis, Y chromosomal microdeletion assay (Yq), semi-quantitative RT-PCR, and the Northern blot for Klinefelter's syndrome (KS) patient, a female and a male control, We extracted total RNA from the KS patient, and from the normal cells of the female and male control subjects using the RNA prep kit (Qiagen), cDNA microarray contained 218 human X chromosome-specific genes was fabricated. Each total RNA was reverse transcribed to the first strand cDNA and was labeled with Cy-3 and Cy-5 fluorescein, The microarray was scanned by ScanArray 4000XL system. XIST transcripts were detected from the Klinefelters patient and the female by RT-PCR and Northern blot analysis, but not from the normal male, In the cDNA microarray experiment, we found 24 genes and 14 genes are highly expressed in KS more than the normal male and females, respectively. We concluded that highly expressed genes in KS may be a resulted of the abnormal X inactivation mechanism.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurological condition that is recognized as one of the primary causes of memory loss. AD currently has no cure. Therefore, the need to develop an efficient model with high precision for timely detection of the disease is very essential. When AD is detected early, treatment would be most likely successful. The most often utilized indicators for AD identification are the Mini-mental state examination (MMSE), and the clinical dementia. However, the use of these indicators as ground truth marking could be imprecise for AD detection. Researchers have proposed several computer-aided frameworks and lately, the supervised model is mostly used. In this study, we propose a novel 3D Convolutional Neural Network Multilayer Perceptron (3D CNN-MLP) based model for AD classification. The model uses Attention Mechanism to automatically extract relevant features from Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) to generate probability maps which serves as input for the MLP classifier. Three MRI scan categories were considered, thus AD dementia patients, Mild Cognitive Impairment patients (MCI), and Normal Control (NC) or healthy patients. The performance of the model is assessed by comparing basic CNN, VGG16, DenseNet models, and other state of the art works. The models were adjusted to fit the 3D images before the comparison was done. Our model exhibited excellent classification performance, with an accuracy of 91.27% for AD and NC, 80.85% for MCI and NC, and 87.34% for AD and MCI.
Objective : Patients with asymptomatic chronic subdural hematoma (SDH) are prone to fall or slip. Acute trauma on these patients may develop acute subdural bleeding over the chronic SDH. We recently experienced 9 patients with acute-on-chronic SDH. We report the clinical and radiological features of this lesion. Methods : We retrospectively examined the computed tomographic (CT) scans of 107 consecutive patients who diagnosed as chronic SDH from January 2008 to December 2010. All cases of CSDH were diagnosed on CT with or without MRI scan. Results : Acute-on-chronic SDH is not rare, being 8% of chronic SDH. The most common cause of trauma was a slip in drunken state. Alcoholism with multiple episodes of trauma was one of the prominent histories. Acute-on-chronic SDH appeared as a hyperdense layer of clot with irregular blurred margin or lumps in liquefied hematoma. Single or two burr holes was usually effective to remove the hematoma. Conclusion : Repeated trauma may cause acute bleeding over the chronic SDH. It will be helpful to understand the role of repeated trauma as a mechanism of hematoma enlargement.
Recently, various engineering approaches have been widely used in the accident investigation field to identify the cause of the accident and to predict damage by accident. Computational analysis is the most commonly used method of accident investigation technique. This technique is mainly used to identify the mechanism of the accident generation and to determine the cause when it is difficult to reproduce the situation at the time of the accident or when it is impossible to perform a reproduction experiment. In this study, The gas explosion analysis for LPG explosion accident generated by defect of the blocking action was performed to determine the accident object, gas leakage amount and predicted the damage caused by the accident using 3D laser scanner and FLACS program. We can quantify the explosive power by LPG gas accident and predict the gas leakage amount, damage by accident and evaluate the stability of the structure through this study. In the future, This method can be widely used in the field of gas safety by improving the reliability and validity of the analysis.
Here is implemented MATLAB program to analyze the characteristic curves of cyclic voltammetry which involves the multi-electron electrode reaction considered as key processes in electrochemical systems. For the electrochemical mass-transfer system, Fick's concentration equation subject to semi-infinite diffusion model for the boundary condition was discretized and solved by the explicit finite difference method. The resulting concentration values were converted into currents at each node by using Butler-Volmer equation. Based on the good agreement between the present numerical solution and the existing experimental results, effects of kinetic constants and CV scan rates on the reaction mechanism in multi-electron transfer processes were investigated effectively.
This paper describes a damage accumulation mechanism in cross-ply CFRP laminates $[0_2/90_2]_{2S}$ subjected to out-of-plane loading. Drop-weight impact and static indentation tests were carried out, and induced damage was observed by ultrasonic C-scan and an optical microscope. Both tests gave essentially the same results for damage modes, sizes, and load-deformation history. First, a crack occurred in the bottom $0^{\circ}$ layer accompanying some delamination along the crack caused by bending stress. Then, transverse cracks occurred in the middle $90^{\circ}$ layer with decreasing contact force between the specimen and the indenter. Measured local strains near the impact point showed that the stress state changed from a bending dominant state to an in-plane tensile dominant state. A cohesive interface element was used to simulate the propagation of multiple delaminations and transverse cracks under static indentation. Two types of analytical models are considered, one with multiple delaminations and the other with both multiple delaminations and transverse cracks. The damage obtained for the model with only multiple delaminations was quite different from that obtained from the experiment. However, the results obtained from the model with both delaminations and transverse cracks well explain the characteristics of the damage obtained in the experiment. The existence of the transverse cracks is essential to form the characteristic impact damage.
