In this paper, we propose an alternative analysis to regulate DC motors using a PID controller with a gain scaling factor. We start by providing a systematic design method for selecting the PID gains of our proposed controller by seeing the effect of ϵ on damping ratio, overshoot and settling time from the frequency response analysis. With the help of matlab (simulink), We proceed to show that the proposed controller provides robust stability against system parameter uncertainty and the effect of the gain scaling factor on steady-state error. The validity of our control method along with the analysis is verified with the simulation results.

This paper deals with trajectory control of computer simulated mobile robot via fuzzy control. Mobile robot is controlled by Mamdani type fuzzy controller. Inputs of the fuzzy controller are angle between mobil robot and target, changed angle and output is the steering angle, which is control input. Fuzzy rules have seven rules and are selected by human experiential knowledge. Also we propose a scaling factors tuning scheme which is the another focus in designing fuzzy controller. In this paper, we adapt the RCGA which is well known in parameter optimization to adjust scaling factors. The simulation results show that the fuzzy control effectively realize trajectory stabilization of the mobile robot along a given reference target from various initial steering angles.

This paper presents WSK(wavelet shift keying) that can be improved to bit transmission rate in the digital communication. An algorithm of the conventional modulation is carried out that the scaling function and wavelet are encoded to 1(mark) and 0(space) for the input binary data, respectively. A new modulation technique that uses four carrier frequencies is proposed. Four carrier frequencies are defined as scaling function, inversed scaling function, wavelet, and inversed wavelet, which are encoded to 10, 11, 00 and 01 respectively. An algorithm of the proposed demodulation is decode to the original data using four correlation. As a results of simulation, we confirmed that the proposed method was improved to the performance at twice for the bit transmission rate.

A wireless communication system is required to be implemented with the low power circuits because it uses a battery having a limited energy. Therefore, the current mode circuit has been studied because it consumes constant power regardless of the frequency change. However, the clock-feedthrough problem is happened by leak of stored energy in memory operation. In this paper, we suggest the current memory circuit to minimize the clock-feedthrough problem and introduce a technique for ultra low power operation by inducing dynamic voltage scaling. The current memory circuit was designed with BSIM3 model of $0.35{\mu}m$ process and was operated in the near-threshold region. From the simulation result, the clock-feedthrough could be minimized when designing the memory MOS Width of $2{\mu}m$, the switch MOS Width of $0.3{\mu}m$ and dummy MOS Width of $13{\mu}m$ in 1MHz switching operation. The power consumption was calculated with $3.7{\mu}W$ at the supply voltage of 1.2 V, near-threshold voltage.
The non-linear static analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) structures using the three-dimensional (3D) finite element method is a time-consuming and challenging task. Moreover, this type of analysis encounters numerical problems such as the lack of convergence of results in the stages of growth and propagation of cracks in the structure. The time integration analysis along with the mass scaling (MS) technique is usually used to overcome these limitations. Despite the use of this method in the 3D finite element analysis of RC structures, a comprehensive study has not been conducted so far to assess the effects of the MS method on the accuracy of results. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of the MS method in the non-linear quasi-static finite element analysis of RC structures. To this aim, different types of RC structures were simulated using the finite element approach based on the implicit time integration method and the mass scaling technique. The influences of effective parameters of the MS method (i.e., the allowable values of increase in the mass of the RC structure, the relationship between the duration of the applied load and fundamental vibration period of the RC structure, and the pattern of applied loads) on the accuracy of the simulated results were investigated. The accuracy of numerical simulation results has been evaluated through comparison with existing experimental data. The results of this study show that the achievement of accurate structural responses in the implicit time integration analyses using the MS method involves the appropriate selection of the effective parameters of the MS method.

In this study, sensitivity analysis of sediment transport scaling factors in Delft3D-Morphology was performed to examine the effect those parameters on simulation results of cross-shore profile changes. For numerical experiments, one-year wave time series data which were observed in 2018 on the Maengbang coast in Gangwon prefecture were applied as external force. Bathymetric data observed in January and October of the same year were used as initial bathymetric data and annual bathymetric change data, respectively. The simulation performance of the model was evaluated based on the Brier Skill Score index for each part by dividing an arbitrary cross section within the calculation domain into the onshore and offshore parts. As a result, it was found thet the fBED variable has a slight effect on the simulation results. The fBEDW and fSUSW variables show good simulation performance in onshore part when the value less than 0.5 is applied and vice versa. Among the experimental conditions, the optimal combinations of variables are fBED = 1.0, fBEDW = 1.0, fSUSW = 0.1 for the onshore region and fBED = 1.0, fBEDW = 1.0, fSUSW = 0.5 for the offshore region. However, since these combinations were derived based on the observation data on Maengbang beach in 2018, users should be careful when applying those results to other areas.
Purpose: This study was performed to explore the effect of senior simulation on nurses' attitudes toward the elderly. Method: Twenty-seven nurses working in various settings such as acute hospitals, community health centers, geriatric hospitals, and clinics were recruited. Among them, 25 subjects completed the whole experimental protocol. Aging Semantic Differential Scaling was utilized to evaluate attitudes toward the elderly and 'Suit for Experiencing Being Aged' from the Sakamoto Model was provided for the experiment. Before and after the experiment subjects filled out questionnaires. Result: Attitude score before experiment was 4.36, which indicates neutral attitude. Objective attitude scores were not different significantly after experiment. However subjective statements indicated attitude changes in a positive way. Conclusion: Senior simulation can affect nurses' attitude toward elderly in subjective way. That is, nurses became more empathetic and understanding to elderly's physical limitations and felt more initiative nursing approach were needed in caring elderly.
We have studied the effect of speed of deposited atom on morphology evolution during Glancing Angle Deposition (GLAD). Using Kinetic Monte Carlo simulation that incorporate molecular dynamics simulations, we have shown that the rough surface morphology became smoother as the speed of deposited atom is increased. The growth exponent ${\beta}$ change from 0.97 to 0.67 as the speed increase from ${\upsilon}_0$ to $10{\upsilon}_0$ in the case of GLAD. We also examined the effect of speed of deposited atom for the case of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) simulation. Compared to GLAD, the variation in scaling exponent ${\beta}$ is small but the speed of deposited atom also have considerable effect on growth morpholgy in the case of CVD.

There are excessively hot units of a microprocessor in today's nano-scale process technology, which are called hotspots. Hotspots' heat dissipation is not perfectly conquered by mechanical cooling techniques such as heatsink, heat spreader, and fans; Hence, an architecture-level temperature simulation of microprocessors is evident experiment so that designers can make reliable chips in high temperature environments. However, conventional thermal simulators cannot be used in temperature evaluation of real machine, since they are too slow, or too coarse-grained to estimate overall system models. This paper proposes methodology of monitoring accurate runtime temperature with Hotspot[4], and introduces its implementation. With this tool, it is available to track runtime thermal behavior of a microprocessor at architecture-level. Therefore, Dynamic Thermal Management such as Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling technique can be verified in the real system.
Emission source term is one of the strong controlling factors for the air quality simulation capability, particularly over the urban area. Ulsan is an industrial area and frequently required to simulate for environmental assessment. In this study, two CAPSS (Clean Air Policy Support System) emission data; CAPSS-2003 and CAPSS-2010 in Ulsan, were employed as an input data for WRF-CMAQ air quality model for emission assessment. The simulated results were compared with observations for the local emission dominant synoptic conditions which had negative vorticities and lower geostrophic wind speed at 850hPa weather maps. The measurements of CO, $NO_2$, $SO_2$ and $PM_{10}$ concentrations were compared with simulations and the 'scaling factors' of emissions for CO, $NO_2$, $SO_2$, and $PM_{10}$ were suggested in in aggregative and quantitative manner. The results showed that CAPSS-2003 showed no critical discrepancies of CO and $NO_2$ observations with simulations, while $SO_2$ was overestimated by a factor of more than 12, while $PM_{10}$ was underestimated by a factor of more than 20 times. However, CAPSS-2010 case showed that $SO_2$ and $PM_{10}$ emission were much more improved than CAPSS-2003. However, $SO_2$ was still overestimated by a factor of more than 2, and $PM_{10}$ underestimated by a factor of 5, while there was no significant improvement for CO and $NO_2$ emission. The estimated factors identified in this study can be used as'scaling factors'for optimizing the emissions of air pollutants, particularly $SO_2$ and $PM_{10}$ for the realistic air quality simulation in Ulsan.
