  • The aim of this study was to survey the effects of planned exercise over the age of 65 in male and female with regard to their self-efficacy, depression, and life satisfaction, based on the literatures of 14 master and doctoral dissertations published between 2004 and 2014. The subjects with program exercise habit were chosen considering the generalization of the physical characteristics of elderly subjects. The exercise duration was 50 minutes for 3 times a week for 12 to 24 weeks. Exercise intensity was an optimal aerobic exercise plan that the subjects themselves could perform. The average effect size of self-efficacy was 0.793 (26.1% increased), depression was -0.91(31.9% decreased), and life satisfaction was 1.506 (43.4% increased). These indicate that post-exercise psychological variables had a positive effect on self-efficacy and life satisfaction by lowering depression after regular exercise. Therefore, it is necessary to increase regular exercise participation and to provide sustainable scientific information for the aged and healthy living of the elderly.

  • Companion animals are physically, mentally, and socially beneficial to humans, giving us great comfort in living in the Corona19 (COVID-19) era. It is also an era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, featuring the convergence of information and communication technology. Korea, which is facing a super-aged society, has the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, and companion animals that are effective in emotional stability can be the answer. This study is about companion animals that are effective in stabilizing the emotions of the elderly, one of the major problems in the Republic of Korea, which is about to solve in a super-aged society with more than 20 percent of the elderly aged 65 or older, needs to solve. The impact of knowledge of raising companion animals on the satisfaction level of the elderly was investigated through the management and awareness of infectious diseases. Although the level of care of companion animals had a very significant (p<0.001) effect on the satisfaction of the companion animals, the recognition of infectious diseases has no statistical significance (p>0.05). Raising companion animals with knowledge of rearing increases the satisfaction level and can lead to a happier life. While personal learning is important, it is also believed that supporting education will be necessary as a policy consideration.

Self administered questionnaires were used to ask the nurses' attitude toward the elderly and job satisfaction in their work before, right after, and one week after senior simulation. According to the results of this study, there were significant changes in the geriatric nurses' attitude toward the elderly and job satisfaction after aging simulation implying that senior simulation is an effective intervention to facilitate nurses to do quality care for the elderly with sympathetic understanding and attitude. Senior simulation needs to be applied to geriatric education for the nursing students and health care providers who are involved in care for the elderly.

  • Resident participation plays much of a rule to the cohousing, which is organized independently and has the characteristics of community life, especially in the initial state of cohousing process. However, it is hard to realize the resident participation in proper order due to lack of a personal time, individual effort and an insufficient knowledge related with cohousing. So, it is thought that the guidance of cohousing expert and coordinator is needed to enable the residents to perform in an active attitude. The development of educational program and workshop connected with resident participation is also accompanied. In this study, to make the positive and systematic participation of cohousing residents, we established the workshop program and performed workshop with our developed program, based on preceding researches and examples. We selected the object of workshop as five housewives in thirties and forties. Workshop was consisted of six process steps. (1) Introduction and question of workshop and cohousing (2) examining and arranging the opinion (3) Master plan of cohousing village (4) Planning of common living space (5) Planning of individual living space (6) Analysis of final results and evaluation of workshop. The workshop held six times and it took about five~six hours per each meeting. Workshop participants expressed their opinion actively and attended in a positive manner in order to the design of their desired village and cohousing. During workshop process, the players established the common target of their village by means of life card, target card game. Also, based on the common target, the layout of village was planned using a collage game and card arrangement game. By workshop activity, the members started to recognize the significance of participation on the drawing board and improve their technique of communication and decision-making. Furthermore, workshop process made it possible to approach the concrete forms of their cohousing village. Especially, in the closing phase, the participant satisfaction about workshop and cohousing is increased suddenly and expressed their intention to join the real workshop related with cohousing.

Methods: The subjects included eight rural women and this study involved pretest and posttest designs for a single group. The program ran from July to August 2020 and consisted of one in-person training session and three weeks of management. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by the change in the degree of pain experienced in the wrists, shoulders, and back, along with the general health status of the subjects. The Wilcoxon Sign-Rank test was used in the analysis. In addition, the program satisfaction was analyzed with five items based on the factors of the health belief model. Results: While the program seemed to have no significant impact on the health status of the subjects, all the participants did report reduced pain in their wrists, shoulders, and lower back. The 'sensitivity' and 'cue to action' metrics also increased with participation in the program. • The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors which affect the alienation of the aged, and to study the relative importance of these factors. This study focused on the following research questions: 1) How do the demographic variables(sex, marital status, family structure, religion, economics, prior occupation, education level) affect the alienation of the aged? 2) How the alienation of the aged is affected by their involvement in social activities? 3) Does the degree of satisfaction with family relationship have a perceivable impact on the alienation of the aged? 4) How does the self-rated senescence affect the alienation of the aged? The research was practiced from the 18th Sept. 1999 to the 30th Sept. 1988, through individual interviews with 300 elderly people, all living in Seoul area. Among them only 285 were used in the analysis. The major findings of the study are as follows; 1) The sex of the respondents makes no difference in the alienation of the age . 2) Marital status is found to be relatively significant in determining the alienation. The degree of alienation of old people with spouse is substantially lower than that of those without spouse. 3) Family structure was found to have no significantly effect on the alienation of the aged. 4) Involvement in religion was found to significantly reduce the alienation of the aged. 5) Econimic factors seems to be critical in defermining the aged. The amount of pocket money avaliable for daily use has direct relationship with alienation. 6) Prior occupation was found to be another significant factor affecting alienation professionals experience far lower alienation than nonprofessionals. 7) The higher is education level, the lower is the alienation of the aged. 8) Active participation in social activities and good relationship with other family members were founded to contribute to lowering the alienation of the aged. Whereas, too much concern over one's senescence appears to hav negative effects on the alienation. The regression analysis shows that the satisfaction with the family relationship has the most important influence upon the alienation of the aged. Following are the factors of self-rated senescence, pocket money in a descending order. All these factors, which explain 42.65% of the total variance of alienation variable are statistically significant(p<.001)
