  • Satellite communication is not used by many people like mobile communication, but it is a necessary technology for public service and communication services, such as providing the Internet in military, disaster, remote education and medical services, island areas, and infrastructure vulnerable areas. However, on ships and aircraft, mobile communications requiring base stations are either unavailable or restricted in their use. In this paper, we used a Raspberry Pi board as the terminal device to communicate network through satellite modem and PPP protocol, and implemented two-way data link using the text message of the modem to connect to the Thuraya geo-stationary orbit network. In addition, I/O devices were connected to the controller of the terminal equipment to design and implement an IoT device system for ships that can remotely access the system under control and control I/Os and transmit measured data through various sensors.

  • Precise Point Positioning-Real Time Kinematic (PPP-RTK) refers to a technology that combines PPP with network-RTK in which a user does not directly receive observed data from a reference station but receives State-Space Representation (SSR) messages corrected for error components from a central processing station through Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol (NTRIP) or Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) for purposes of positioning. SSR messages, which refer to corrections used in PPP-RTK, are generated by a central processing station using real-time observed data collected from reference stations and account for corrections needed due to the ionosphere, troposphere, satellite orbital errors, satellite time offsets, and satellite biases. This study used a type of SSR message provided in South Korea, known as Korea-SSR (K-SSR), to implement a PPP-RTK algorithm based on code-pseudorange measurements and validated its accuracy within the reference station network. In order to validate the accuracy of the implemented algorithm outside of the network, the K-SSR was extrapolated and applied to positioning in reference stations in Changchun, China (CHAN) and Japan (AIRA). This also entailed a quantitative evaluation that measured improvements in accuracy in comparison with point positioning. The results of the study showed that positioning applied with extrapolated K-SSR correction data was more accurate in both AIRA and CHAN than point positioning with improvements of approximately 20~50%.

The developed system is based on GPS and GSM/GPRS technology. Distribution and teletransmission of data are possible using different GSM operators in Poland, which makes the system fully independent. The system's server collects data from rally cars, processing and send data through VPN connections to the SQL server located in main control room. Data can be collected in real time via Internet or GPRS. Some information on GSM/GPRS range during rally championships are also presented in the paper. The study covered many trials and tests of different software and various configurations of the GPRS modems before finally the system started to work. Information coming from 10 Rally Cars were collected to the SQL Server continuously in one second interval. In real time mode these all data were displayed simultaneously in the rally main control room and in the rally press conference room. Paper describes also adopted emergency procedures and remote reconfiguration of GPS/GPRS boxes inside rally cars made during championships. Some problems and method of practical solutions are presented to avoid active jamming dangerous for a driver and his pilot, having system of communication intercoms jammed by teletransmission of GPRS 900/1800 MHz. In cooperation with rally teams special GPS/GPRS safety boxes were designed and made. Monitoring of all 7 rally stages with GPS receivers and method of calibrations of the maps were presented. GSM signal coverage was also checked in all stages. All data transmitted from rally cars were recorded in the computer. Some of our GPS cars had accidents and dispite them information were continuously sent to server. There is possibility to show in post mission mode the position of chosen cars in our rally application. Some information of best rally cars are presented also in the paper.

  • In this paper, we introduce the design and implementation of satellite IP modem. The designed satellite IP modem shows the performance of 0.2% overhead, BER=10-5 when Eb/No=6dB, frequency offset of 8KHz, data rate up to 1536Kbps, $F_{if}=140MHz$. The designed system is verified through software simulation and then implemented with MPC86x communication processor, TMS320C6416 DSP, and Altera FPGA. Since each hardware unit is implemented in daughter board for modularity, we can reduce the development time and easily improve the performance with using better processor. Linux is used for embedded OS because it shows better performance in IP manipulation multitask processing, and hardware control through device driver. The implemented system is tested and verified with channel simulator. Since the proposed IP modem shows small size and light weight, that can be used anywhere with easy if you need IP environment.

  • GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) such as GPS(Global Positioning System), GLONASS(GLObal NAvigation Satellite System) has been used in various fields for construction of geospatial inforamtion. But RTK or VRS method for high accuracy has some bad points like requirement of additional GNSS device and internet. So, this methods are difficult to take advantage of field survey. In this study, In this study, experiments using DGPS handheld devices and smart devices that can maximize mobility through was to suggest ways to improve the efficiency of field survey work. As a results, field survey work with smart devices is difficult to apply the limits of accuracy yet. On the other hand, DGPS has been found possible to determine the position accuracy within 1m. If DGPS is used in related work can greatly improve the efficiency of field survey work, which is currently much is done by hand, it is expected to serve as the basis for a structured GIS data management.

  • Recent advancements in the integration of satellite technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) have led to the development of a sophisticated network ecosystem, capable of generating and utilizing vast amounts of big data across various sectors. However, this integrated network faces significant security challenges, primarily due to constraints like limited latency, low power requirements, and the incorporation of diverse heterogeneous devices. Addressing these security concerns, this paper explores the construction of a satellite-IoT network through the application of Software Defined Networking (SDN). While SDN offers numerous benefits, it also inherits certain inherent security vulnerabilities. To mitigate these issues, we propose a novel approach that incorporates blockchain technology within the SDN framework. This blockchain-based SDN environment enhances security through a distributed controller system, which also facilitates the authentication of IoT terminals and nodes. Our paper details the implementation plan for this system and discusses its validation through a series of tests. Looking forward, we aim to expand our research to include the convergence of artificial intelligence with satellite-IoT devices, exploring new avenues for leveraging the potential of big data in this context.

  • Offset parabolic antenna have been widely used for satellite communication system. To locate feedhorn on antenna system, it requires arbitrary structure which forces to fix on system. However, arbitrary scatterer increases sidelobe level of elevation axis. To solve this problem, we need to predict which angle level is increased by arbitrary scatterer simply. Because conventional simulation method takes a long time to simulate parabolic antenna system and needs exclusive software. In this paper we can calculate sidelobe angle simply by using raytracing method, check coincidence between calculated and simulated result and show how arbitrary scatterer affects sidelobe lavel of elevation axis of offset parabolic antenna depending on angle and location of arbitrary structure.

  • Significant advancements in technology enhanced the reliability of navigation systems that are in use today. The GPS is the most widely used technique for satellite-based location estimation. However, systems based on GPS can only be accurate in providing location data when there is a clear view of the satellites. This paper proposes a self-contained navigation system that does not depend on any tracking infrastructure. Using the built-in sensors of a smartphone and a self-contained map, we implemented an accurate car locator. Evaluation results show that our proposed system outperforms GPS in providing accurate car location assistance.
