Many mobile sensing frameworks have been developed to help researcher doing their mobile sensing research. However, energy consumption is still an issue in the mobile sensing research, and the existing frameworks do not provide enough solution for solving the issue. We have surveyed several mobile sensing frameworks and carefully chose one framework to improve. We have designed an adaptive sampling module for a mobile sensing framework to help solve the energy consumption issue. However, in this study, we limit our design to an adaptive sampling module for the location and motion sensors. In our adaptive sampling module, we utilize the significant motion sensor to help the adaptive sampling. We experimented with two sampling strategies that utilized the significant motion sensor to achieve low-power consumption during the continuous sampling. The first strategy is to utilize the sensor naively only while the second one is to add the duty cycle to the naive approach. We show that both strategies achieve low energy consumption, but the one that is combined with the duty cycle achieves better result.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the incidence of blood hemolysis and repeated blood sampling and to identify factors contributing to hemolysis and repeated blood sampling in the emergency department. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive design was used. Participants were the patients who came to emergency department and are required a blood sampling for electrolyte level. All blood samples were collected by emergency department nurses and determined for hemolysis by experienced laboratory technologists. Data were analyzed using $x^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney u test and Binary Logistic Regression to determine significant differences. Results: A total of 402 valid samples were collected. Of these, 30 blood samples (7.5%) were found to be hemolyzed and 9 (2.2%) to be recollected. Statistically significant factors affecting on hemolysis and repeated blood sampling included the time of bloods sampling (night), the time of tourniquet application, and too-fast blood draw into the test tube. Conclusion: We recommend that nurses who take the blood sampling to consider the findings of the study and take the related factors into account as they set up the standardized care protocol in order for nursing quality improvement.

본 연구에서는 통계를 이용한 경안천유역의 최적 수질 측정망 구성이 제안된다. 분석을 위해서 필요한 수질 데이터는 QUAL2E 모형을 이용하여 모의하였으며, 경안천 유역의 2000년도 3월부터 11월까지의 월 평균자료를 이용하였다. QUAL2E 모형을 구축하는데 필요한 수리 매개변수는HEC-RAS모형을 이용하여 추정하였다. 수질매개변수의 경우 월평균 실측자료를 바탕으로 1차 신뢰성 분석(FORA)를 이용하여 민감도 분석을 실시하여 수질항목별로 민감하지 않은 매개변수를 제외한 후 보정이 이루어진다. QUAL2E 모형의 모의 결과를 바탕으로 크리깅 기법과 Branch and Boundary Method를 이용하여 평수량 일때와 갈수량 일때로 구분하여 관측지점의 개수와 위치가 결정된다. 또한 선정된 지점을 기준으로 proportional sampling method(비례표본추출법)를 이용하여 각각의 지점별 측정 빈도가 제시된다.

An empirical Bayesian approach is discussed for estimation of characteristics from the two-way balanced rotation sampling design which includes U.S. Current Population Survey and Canadian Labor Force Survey as special cases. An empirical Bayesian estimator is derived for monthly effect under presence of two types of biases and correlations It is shown that the marginal distribution of observation provides more general correlation structure than that frequentist has assumed. Consistent estimators are derived for hyper-parameters in Normal priors.

The agricultural machine estimated sales survey is a survey to estimate annual sales quantities of eight major agricultural machines such as tracter, combine, etc. The purpose of this study is to design a multipurpose sample for the agricultural machine estimated sales survey. Main achievements of this study are to present an efficient stratification criterion and to suggest a reasonable estimation method by using the concept of post-stratification.

In this paper, a sample design is studied for 2000 forestry management survey of five types forestry , tree felling, gathering of pine mushroom, growing of nut trees, growing of wild flowers, and lumbering industry. We introduce population stratification and a modified stratified cut-off sampling which deal with determination of sample size, sample allocation, and estimation of total and variance of estimator. Substitution of sample units and imputation of nonresponse units are discussed for reducing the nonsampling errors.

In the study, the design method of reconstruction filter is studied for synchronized sampling which is necessary for order tracking in rotating machinery. The original data sampled at constant intervals, using fixed anti- aliasing filters, is reconstructed by digital reconstruction filter and is resampled at new sampling times calculated by a suitable shaft angle encoder pulse arrival times in order to synchronize with shaft velocity. In addition to eliminating the tracking synthesizer and filters, this new method has no phase noise due to phase-locked loops.

This paper deals with a mixed logit model for vaccination data. The effect of a newly developed vaccine for a certain chicken disease can be evaluated by a noninfection rate after injecting chicken with the disease vaccine. But there are a lot of factors that might affect the noninfecton rate. Some of these are fixed and others are random. Random factors are sometimes coming from the sampling scheme for choosing experimental units. This paper suggests a mixed model when some fixed factors need to have different experimental sizes by an experimental design and illustrates how to estimate parameters in a suggested model.

This paper aimed at studying an efficient sampling design of the survey for non-consignment fishery products including both marine fisheries and seaculture. An analysis was done on the relationship between precision and sample size. On the basis of the analysis, the sample size was determined to be 1,080 fishery house holds with the expected precision of 4%-5%. The molluscs and seaculture were recognized to be correlated with the non-consignment products. An attempt was made to investigate the coverage of the fish kinds by the sample about 100 fish kinds were found in the 80 selected sample villages, whereas the population includes about 120 in total. This shows that the sample represents the population with satisfaction.

Often in a production process, the quality of items is serially dependent. We assume that the quality of items is an attribute which can be classified as good or bad with a Markovian dependence structure. In order to determine sampling inspection plan characteristics such as total inspection cost and average outgoing quality, we design an economic model and illustrate an efficient procedure for design of best inspection plan using graphs based on numerical calculations.
