  • Purpose: Despite the popularity of sales promotion as one of the key marketing tactics employed by many companies today, relatively little effort has been devoted to examining an interaction effect between promotion cues and promotion duration. Therefore, this study aims to examine how promotion cues and promotion duration will jointly affect consumers' attitudes toward promotions and purchase intentions. Research design, data, and methodology: The present study conducted an online experiment through the Qualtrics program in which a total of 141 participants were recruited from the Cloud panel members in the U.S. The experiment employed a 2(promotion cue: best-seller vs. limited edition) × 2(promotion duration: long vs. short) full factorial between-subjects design. Result: In the condition of best-selling sales promotion cue, a long promotion duration induced more positive promotion attitude and higher purchase intention, while in the condition of limited-edition sales promotion cue, the use of a short promotion duration contributed more positive promotion attitude and greater purchase intention. Conclusions: Marketers need to take the congruence between promotion cues and promotion duration into full consideration when designing effective sales promotion strategy.

Research design, data: The survey was conducted for about a month from March 1 to April 6, 2020, and a total of 300 copies were used in the analysis of the results. To verify the hypothesis, data was analyzed using the statistical package program SPSS 18.0, and frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: It is a study on the sales of face-to-face service of crews of global airlines. Non-verbal elements in airline service face-to-face sales have been shown to have a significant impact on service quality. Conclusions: In the face-to-face service sales of global airlines, communication has been shown to affect service quality. A face-to-face sale using mother tongue means important. The better the flight attendant's linguistic face-to-face selling ability, the more positive on the airline's quality of service. It suggests that the communication skills of managers in the aviation service market are important for repurchase.

  • Purpose - The domestic liquor market is steadily increasing, but locally made liquor markets remain stagnant. The market opening due to the FTA and westernized eating habits are expanding the consumption of imported liquor by Koreans and the demand for beer and soju is still high. Therefore, we analyzed the scale efficiency of Korean locally made liquor companies. Research design, data, and methodology - Based on a translog-cost function, a scale efficiency analysis was conducted using the government's information survey on the liquor industry. Data from 541 liquor companies analyzed from 2013 to 2014 were used for analysis. Results - As a result of the scale efficiency analysis, the average sales of the mid-sized locally made liquor companies is 171 million won, but the appropriate sales amount is 1 million won. It is estimated that there is a need to increase sales. Conclusions - The gap between the actual sales and the appropriate sales of mid-sized locally made liquor companies with 3~10 employees is larger, so it is necessary to reduce the average cost by increasing the sales of locally made liquor companies. In order to do so, it is necessary to acquire customer strategies such as product differentiation, advertising and publicity.

  • Purpose - This paper aims to examine several time series models to predict sales of department stores and discount store markets in South Korea, while other previous trial has performed sales of convenience stores and supermarkets. In addition, optimal predicted values on the underlying model can be got and be applied to distribution industry. Research design, data, and methodology - Two retailing types, under investigation, are homogeneous and comparable in size based on 86 realizations sampled from January 2010 to February in 2017. To accomplish the purpose of this research, both ARIMA model and exponential smoothing methods are, simultaneously, utilized. Furthermore, model-fit measures may be exploited as important tools of the optimal model-building. Results - By applying Holt-Winters' additive seasonality method to sales of two large-scale retailing types, persisting increasing trend and fluctuation around the constant level with seasonal pattern, respectively, will be predicted from May in 2017 to February in 2018. Conclusions - Considering 2017-2018 forecasts for sales of two large-scale retailing types, it is important to predict future sales magnitude and to produce the useful information for reforming financial conditions and related policies, so that the impacts of any marketing or management scheme can be compared against the do-nothing scenario.

  • Employees of sales departments of apparel makers play an important role in the success of a fashion-related business because they provide service through the direct contact with customers. This research tests several hypothesized relationships between internal marketing and its determinants, such as job satisfaction and organizational and job commitment, along with sales goal orientation. The subjects in this study were salespeople who worked at fashion stores in Yeosu and Sunchon. To measure the hypotheses, 200 questionnaires were handed out and 185 were collected. Finally, 163 questionnaires were used for the analysis, as 22 were found to be invalid. Frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression techniques were used after coding and cleaning the data with the software SPSS 18.0. It was found that job satisfaction in the subjects is affected by organizational and job commitment and by their sales goal orientation. Second, it was found that both organizational and job commitment have a significant impact on sales goal orientation. According the results of this study, the higher the salesperson's job satisfaction, the higher the organizational and job commitment are. This was also true for their sales goal orientation. Moreover, higher organizational and job commitment was correlated with a stronger sales goal orientation. On the basis of the results, marketing strategies related to personal management can be established.

Research design, data, and methodology: The current author conducted SPSS statistical analysis program to gauge the statistical association between two main constructs (Psychological Empowerment and Job performance) using 217 respondents. The main statistical tool was selected by a multiple regression methodology. Results: The statistical test from the analysis is presented in the finding section and shows that β values and P-values are greater than 0 and less than 0.05 respectively and thus, this research could reject null hypotheses which mention that psychological empowerment cannot be associated with job performance. Conclusions: All in all, this research could conclude that it will improve the attitudes of retail sales workers towards their job, making them self-committed to the tasks assigned through significant psychological empowerment factors. The retention of these workers would be enhanced because they would attain job satisfaction through a positive perception of the tasks assigned to them.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to deal with disputes between the seller and the buyer in connection with the Letter of Credit (LC) in a sales contract. The Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) provides the rules on the fundamental breaches which can lead to termination of the sales contract but the CISG is not enough to govern issues arising from the LC disputes when the sales contract is not clear about the payment terms. This paper tried to find some solutions to the disputes by considering international rules, such as the Principles of European Contract Law (PECL). Research design, data and methodology: The methodology applied in this study was an analysis of some court decisions and extended literature review. Results: The study revealed that in contracts for the sale of international goods, the buyer was obliged to open an LC as manner of payment. If the buyer failed to open an LC or amend the terms of the LC, the seller could avoid the contract because this could deprive the seller's expected interest. Conclusions: Few studies in Korea have been comprehensively analyzed in terms of the obligations of regarding the LC with respect to the CISG in court cases. This study suggests safeguarding the buyer and seller when the LC is considered absolute or conditional.
